2016-07-19ath6kl: Unset IFF_LOWER_UP flag on AP mode leave.Pierre Le Magourou
When disabling tethering after having enabled it, the ath6kl driver does not set the IFF_LOWER_UP flag to 0 (carrier off) on the wlan interface. The upper layers (eg. connman) are not notified of the tethering mode status change. So, tethering can not be activated anymore. One minute after a successful connection, the kernel checks if the frequency and the channel width are well configured for the country we are in. (regulatory domain) ath6kl driver was setting the NL80211_CHAN_HT20 channel without checking for the HT capabilities. (we should have NL80211_CHAN_NO_HT in our case because the firmware did not support HT) This patch adds a check on ht_cap.ht_supported in order to create the channel corresponding to the firmware capabilities. 2016-07-19ath6kl: Fix WLAN tethering authentication problem.Pierre Le Magourou
When enabling WLAN tethering, a new AP is visible and a STA could connect to it. When the STA tries to authenticate to the newly created AP, the WPA authentication mechanism is stuck in the 1/4 msg of 4-Way Handshake. In ath6kl_rx(), the ath6kl_find_sta() function is looking for the h_source field of the Ethernet frame header received by the STA. The datap pointer that points to the Ethernet frame header is incorrect, and was pointing at the wrong offset in the buffer. This commit adds a pad_before_data_start offset to set the datap pointer to the Ethernet frame header. datap->h_source parameter is now really pointing to the source ethernet address and the authentication process can continue. Ideally wake_tx_queue should be used regardless as it is a requirement for reducing bufferbloat and implementing airtime fairness in the future. However some setups (typically low-end platforms hosting QCA988X) suffer performance regressions with the current wake_tx_queue implementation. Therefore disable it unless it is really beneficial with current codebase (which is when firmware supports smart pull-push tx scheduling). 2016-07-19tick/nohz: Optimize nohz idle enterGaurav Jindal
tick_nohz_start_idle is called before checking whether the idle tick can be stopped. If the tick cannot be stopped, calling tick_nohz_start_idle() is pointless and just wasting CPU cycles. Only invoke tick_nohz_start_idle() when can_stop_idle_tick() returns true. A short one minute observation of the effect on ARM64 shows a reduction of calls by 1.5% thus optimizing the idle entry sequence. In the current code, the RELOCATABLE will be forcedly enabled when enabling CRASH_DUMP. But for ppc32, the RELOCABLE also depend on ADVANCED_OPTIONS and select NONSTATIC_KERNEL. This will cause the following build error when CRASH_DUMP=y && ADVANCED_OPTIONS=n because the select of NONSTATIC_KERNEL doesn't take effect. arch/powerpc/include/asm/io.h: In function 'virt_to_phys': arch/powerpc/include/asm/page.h:113:26: error: 'virt_phys_offset' undeclared (first use in this function) #define VIRT_PHYS_OFFSET virt_phys_offset ^ It doesn't have any strong reasons to make the RELOCATABLE depend on ADVANCED_OPTIONS. The sysfs interface used to handle PowerVM hotplug events should use the hotplug queue as well. PRRN events will soon be placing many hotplug events on the queue at once and we will need ordinary hotplug events to use the queue as well in order to ensure these events will still be handled and that proper serialization is maintained during the PRRN event. Add handler for new hotplug interrupt. For memory and CPU hotplug events, we will add the hotplug errorlog to the hotplug workqueue. Since PCI hotplug is not currently supported in the kernel, PCI hotplug events are written to the rtas_log_bug and are handled by rtas_errd. If kzalloc() fails when allocating adapter->guest in cxl_guest_init_adapter(), we call free_adapter() before erroring out. free_adapter() in turn attempts to dereference adapter->guest, which in this case is NULL. 2016-07-19powerpc/powernv: Fix pci-cxl.c build when CONFIG_MODULES=nIan Munsie
pnv_cxl_enable_phb_kernel_api() grabs a reference to the cxl module to prevent it from being unloaded after the PHB has been switched to CX4 mode. This breaks the build when CONFIG_MODULES=n as module_mutex doesn't exist. However, if we don't have modules, we don't need to protect against the case of the cxl module being unloaded. As such, split the relevant code out into a function surrounded with #if IS_MODULE(CXL) so we don't try to compile it if cxl isn't being compiled as a module. Up to now, the watchdog status function called a driver function, which was supposed to return the watchdog status. All but one driver using the watchdog core did not implement this function, and the driver implementing it did not implement it correctly (the function is supposed to return WDIOF_ flags). At the same time, at least some of the status information can be provided by the watchdog core. Provide the available status bits directly from the watchdog driver core. Call the driver status function if it exists to get the boot status, but always provide WDIOF_MAGICCLOSE and WDIOF_KEEPALIVEPING internally. This patch makes the 'status' sysfs attribute always available. This attribute is now displayed as hex number with 0x prepended to be easier to decode. The ADV7511 driver's conversion from slave encoder to bridge meant that its users (the rcar-du kms driver) should use the bridge interface too. 2016-07-19drm/i915: Enable polling when we don't have hpdLyude
Unfortunately, there's two situations where we lose hpd right now: - Runtime suspend - When we've shut off all of the power wells on Valleyview/Cherryview While it would be nice if this didn't cause issues, this has the ability to get us in some awkward states where a user won't be able to get their display to turn on. For instance; if we boot a Valleyview system without any monitors connected, it won't need any of it's power wells and thus shut them off. Since this causes us to lose HPD, this means that unless the user knows how to ssh into their machine and do a manual reprobe for monitors, none of the monitors they connect after booting will actually work. Eventually we should come up with a better fix then having to enable polling for this, since this makes rpm a lot less useful, but for now the infrastructure in i915 just isn't there yet to get hpd in these situations. One of the things preventing us from using polling is the fact that calling valleyview_crt_detect_hotplug() when there's a VGA cable connected results in sending another hotplug. With polling enabled when HPD is disabled, this results in a scenario like this: - We enable power wells and reset the ADPA - output_poll_exec does force probe on VGA, triggering a hpd - HPD handler waits for poll to unlock dev->mode_config.mutex - output_poll_exec shuts off the ADPA, unlocks dev->mode_config.mutex - HPD handler runs, resets ADPA and brings us back to the start This results in an endless irq storm getting sent from the ADPA whenever a VGA connector gets detected in the middle of polling. 2016-07-19drm/i915/vlv: Reset the ADPA in vlv_display_power_well_init()Lyude
While VGA hotplugging worked(ish) before, it looks like that was mainly because we'd unintentionally enable it in valleyview_crt_detect_hotplug() when we did a force trigger. This doesn't work reliably enough because whenever the display powerwell on vlv gets disabled, the values set in VLV_ADPA get cleared and consequently VGA hotplugging gets disabled. This causes bugs such as one we found on an Intel NUC, where doing the following sequence of hotplugs: - Disconnect all monitors - Connect VGA - Disconnect VGA - Connect HDMI Would result in VGA hotplugging becoming disabled, due to the powerwells getting toggled in the process of connecting HDMI.
