2024-02-09of: property: Improve finding the supplier of a remote-endpoint propertySaravana Kannan
After commit 4a032827daa8 ("of: property: Simplify of_link_to_phandle()"), remote-endpoint properties created a fwnode link from the consumer device to the supplier endpoint. This is a tiny bit inefficient (not buggy) when trying to create device links or detecting cycles. So, improve this the same way we improved finding the consumer of a remote-endpoint property. 2024-02-05net: marvell,prestera: Fix example PCI bus addressingRob Herring
The example for PCI devices has some addressing errors. 'reg' is written as if the parent bus is PCI, but the default bus for examples is 1 address and size cell. 'ranges' is defining config space with a size of 0. Generally, config space should not be defined in 'ranges', only PCI memory and I/O spaces. Fix these issues by updating the values with made-up, but valid values. This was uncovered with recent dtschema changes. 2024-01-22kselftest: dt: Stop relying on dirname to improve performanceNícolas F. R. A. Prado
When walking directory trees, instead of looking for specific files and running dirname to get the parent folder, traverse all folders and ignore the ones not containing the desired files. This avoids the need to call dirname inside the loop, which drastically decreases run time: Running locally on a mt8192-asurada-spherion, which reports 160 test cases, has gone from 5.5s to 2.9s, while running remotely with an nfsroot has gone from 13.5s to 5.5s. This change has a side-effect, which is that the root DT node now also shows in the output, even though it isn't expected to bind to a driver. The wording in the current documentation is a little strong. The intention was not to fix any particular interrupt as wakeup capable but leave those details to the device. It wasn't intended to enforce any rules as what can be or can't be a wakeup interrupt. Soften the wording to not mandate that the 'wakeup-source' property be used, and clarify what it means when an interrupt is marked (or not marked) for wakeup. In of_parse_phandle_with_args_map() the inner loop that iterates through the map entries calls of_node_put(new) to free the reference acquired by the previous iteration of the inner loop. This assumes that the value of "new" is NULL on the first iteration of the inner loop. Make sure that this is true in all iterations of the outer loop by setting "new" to NULL after its value is assigned to "cur". Extend the unittest to detect the double free and add an additional test case that actually triggers this path. 2024-01-09dt-bindings: ignore paths outside kernel for DT_SCHEMA_FILESAndré Draszik
If the location of the kernel sources contains the string that we're filtering for using DT_SCHEMA_FILES, then all schemas will currently be matched, returned and checked, not just the ones we actually expected. As an example, if the kernel sources happen to be below a directory 'google', and DT_SCHEMA_FILES=google, everything is checked. More common examples might be having the sources below people's home directories that contain the string st or arm and then searching for those. The list is endless. Fix this by only matching for schemas below the kernel source's bindings directory. Note that I opted for the implementation here so as to not having to deal with escaping DT_SCHEMA_FILES, which would have been the alternative if the grep match itself had been updated. 2024-01-09dt-bindings: tpm: Convert Google Cr50 bindings to DT schemaLukas Wunner
Convert the devicetree bindings for the Google Security Chip H1 running Cr50 firmware to DT schema. The chip can be attached to SPI or I²C. Existing devicetrees use the same "google,cr50" compatible string for both cases without additionally specifying a generic "tcg,tpm_tis-spi" or "tcg,tpm-tis-i2c" compatible. The chip therefore cannot be documented in the tcg,tpm_tis-spi.yaml and tcg,tpm-tis-i2c.yaml schemas: The validator would select both of them and complain about SPI properties when the chip is an I²C peripheral. So document the chip in a schema of its own which includes both, SPI and I²C properties by reference. 2024-01-09dt-bindings: tpm: Consolidate TCG TIS bindingsLukas Wunner
A significant number of Trusted Platform Modules conform to the "TIS" specification published by the Trusted Computing Group ("TCG PC Client Specific TPM Interface Specification"). These chips typically use an SPI, I²C or LPC bus as transport (via MMIO in the latter case). Some of them even support multiple of those buses (selectable through a config strap) or the same chip is available in multiple SKUs, each with a different bus interface. The devicetree bindings for these TPMs have not been converted to DT schema yet and are spread out across 3 generic files and 2 chip-specific files. A few TPM compatible strings were added to trivial-devices.yaml even though additional properties are documented in the plaintext bindings. Consolidate the devicetree bindings into 3 yaml files, one per bus. Move common properties to a separate tpm-common.yaml. Document compatible strings which are supported by the TPM TIS driver but were neglected to be added to the devicetree bindings. Document the memory-region property recently introduced by commit 1e2714bb83fc ("tpm: Add reserved memory event log"). The iommus and iommu-names property schemas have several issues. First, 'iommus-names' in the if/then schemas is the wrong name. As all the names are the same, they can be defined at the top level instead. Then the if/then schemas just need to define how many entries. The iommus if/then schemas are also redundant. Best I can tell, the desire was to require 2 entries for "samsung,exynos5433-mfc", "samsung,mfc-v5", "samsung,mfc-v6", and "samsung,mfc-v8". 2023-12-07of/platform: Disable sysfb if a simple-framebuffer node is foundJavier Martinez Canillas
Some DT platforms use EFI to boot and in this case the EFI Boot Services may register a EFI_GRAPHICS_OUTPUT_PROTOCOL handle, that will later be queried by the Linux EFI stub to fill the global struct screen_info data. The data is used by the Generic System Framebuffers (sysfb) framework to add a platform device with platform data about the system framebuffer. But if there is a "simple-framebuffer" node in the DT, the OF core will also do the same and add another device for the system framebuffer. This could lead for example, to two platform devices ("simple-framebuffer" and "efi-framebuffer") to be added and matched with their corresponding drivers. [ 3.295896] simple-framebuffer bd58dc000.framebuffer: [drm] *ERROR* could not acquire memory range [??? 0xffff79f30a29ee40-0x2a5000001a7 flags 0x0]: -16 [ 3.298018] simple-framebuffer: probe of bd58dc000.framebuffer failed with error -16 To prevent the issue, make the OF core to disable sysfb if there is a node with a "simple-framebuffer" compatible. That way only this device will be registered and sysfb would not attempt to register another one using the screen_info data even if this has been filled. This seems the correct thing to do in this case because: a) On a DT platform, the DTB is the single source of truth since is what describes the hardware topology. Even if EFI Boot Services are used to boot the machine. b) The of_platform_default_populate_init() function is called in the arch_initcall_sync() initcall level while the sysfb_init() function is called later in the subsys_initcall() initcall level.
