2017-01-17partitions/efi: Fix integer overflow in GPT size calculationAlden Tondettar
If a GUID Partition Table claims to have more than 2**25 entries, the calculation of the partition table size in alloc_read_gpt_entries() will overflow a 32-bit integer and not enough space will be allocated for the table. Nothing seems to get written out of bounds, but later efi_partition() will read up to 32768 bytes from a 128 byte buffer, possibly OOPSing or exposing information to /proc/partitions and uevents. The problem exists on both 64-bit and 32-bit platforms. Fix the overflow and also print a meaningful debug message if the table size is too large. 2017-01-17iommu: Handle default domain attach failureRobin Murphy
We wouldn't normally expect ops->attach_dev() to fail, but on IOMMUs with limited hardware resources, or generally misconfigured systems, it is certainly possible. We report failure correctly from the external iommu_attach_device() interface, but do not do so in iommu_group_add() when attaching to the default domain. The result of failure there is that the device, group and domain all get left in a broken, part-configured state which leads to weird errors and misbehaviour down the line when IOMMU API calls sort-of-but-don't-quite work. Check the return value of __iommu_attach_device() on the default domain, and refactor the error handling paths to cope with its failure and clean up correctly in such cases. 2017-01-17perf tools: Move two variables usied in libperf from perf.cSoramichi AKIYAMA
The use_browser and perf_version_string variables are both declared in perf.c but they are also referenced by other functions of libperf.a. Therefore a user linking an own main() with libperf.a must declare those two variables in their files even if the files never use the browser or the version information. This patch fixes this issue by moving use_browser and perf_version_string out of perf.c to some other files. 2017-01-17ubifs: Fix journal replay wrt. xattr nodesRichard Weinberger
When replaying the journal it can happen that a journal entry points to a garbage collected node. This is the case when a power-cut occurred between a garbage collect run and a commit. In such a case nodes have to be read using the failable read functions to detect whether the found node matches what we expect. One corner case was forgotten, when the journal contains an entry to remove an inode all xattrs have to be removed too. UBIFS models xattr like directory entries, so the TNC code iterates over all xattrs of the inode and removes them too. This code re-uses the functions for walking directories and calls ubifs_tnc_next_ent(). ubifs_tnc_next_ent() expects to be used only after the journal and aborts when a node does not match the expected result. This behavior can render an UBIFS volume unmountable after a power-cut when xattrs are used. Fix this issue by using failable read functions in ubifs_tnc_next_ent() too when replaying the journal. This reverts commit 4c81acab3816 ("bcma: init serial console directly from ChipCommon code") as it broke IRQ assignment. Getting IRQ with bcma_core_irq helper on SoC requires MIPS core to be set. It happens *after* ChipCommon initialization so we can't do this so early. This fixes a user reported regression. It wasn't critical as serial was still somehow working but lack of IRQs was making in unreliable. Commit b67a8b29df introduced logic to skip swiotlb allocation when all memory is DMA accessible anyway. While this is a great idea, __dma_alloc still calls swiotlb code unconditionally to allocate memory when there is no CMA memory available. The swiotlb code is called to ensure that we at least try get_free_pages(). Without initialization, swiotlb allocation code tries to access io_tlb_list which is NULL. We copy the unvalidated ioctl arguments from the user into kernel temporary memory to run the validation from, to avoid a race where the user updates the unvalidate contents in between validating them and copying them into the validated BO. However, in setting up the layout of the kernel side, we failed to check one of the additions (the roundup() for shader_rec_offset) against integer overflow, allowing a nearly MAX_UINT value of bin_cl_size to cause us to under-allocate the temporary space that we then copy_from_user into. 2017-01-17perf/x86/intel: Handle exclusive threadid correctly on CPU hotplugZhou Chengming
The CPU hotplug function intel_pmu_cpu_starting() sets cpu_hw_events.excl_thread_id unconditionally to 1 when the shared exclusive counters data structure is already availabe for the sibling thread. This works during the boot process because the first sibling gets threadid 0 assigned and the second sibling which shares the data structure gets 1. But when the first thread of the core is offlined and onlined again it shares the data structure with the second thread and gets exclusive thread id 1 assigned as well. Prevent this by checking the threadid of the already online thread. RCU_EXPEDITE_BOOT should speed up the boot process by enforcing synchronize_rcu_expedited() instead of synchronize_rcu() during the boot process. There should be no reason why one does not want this and there is no need worry about real time latency at this point. Therefore make it default. Note that users wishing to avoid expediting entirely, for example when bringing up new hardware possibly having flaky IPIs, can use the rcu_normal boot parameter to override boot-time expediting.
