2013-10-29virtio-net: correctly handle cpu hotplug notifier during resumingJason Wang
commit 3ab098df35f8b98b6553edc2e40234af512ba877 (virtio-net: don't respond to cpu hotplug notifier if we're not ready) tries to bypass the cpu hotplug notifier by checking the config_enable and does nothing is it was false. 2013-10-29staging: ft1000: return values corrected in scram_start_dwnldKelley Nielsen
The ft1000 usb driver ignores expected Linux error codes, and uses two values defined in ft1000_usb.h: STATUS_SUCCESS 0, and STATUS_FAILURE 0x1001; and sometimes -1. This patch changes the return values of the function scram_start_dwnld to match the status of the handshake returned by its helper functions, get_handshake and get_handshake_usb. If the handshake fails, -ENETRESET is returned instead of the inappropriate STATUS_FAILURE. Also, a new test has been added to differentiate failure due to timeout from failure due to net reset (the default). -ETIMEDOUT is returned in this case. Finally, 0 is returned on success instead of STATUS_SUCCESS. 2013-10-29staging: ft1000: change values of status return variable in ↵Kelley Nielsen
write_dpram32_and_check The ft1000 usb driver ignores expected Linux error codes, and uses two values defined in ft1000_usb.h: STATUS_SUCCESS 0, and STATUS_FAILURE 0x1001; and sometimes -1. This patch changes the return value of the function write_dpram_32_and check to 0 or -EREMOTEIO, respectively. The relevant change was made in the helper function check_buffers (which is only called from write_dpram32_and_check); it now returns 0 on success and -EREMOTEIO on failure, and this is allowed to propagate through write_dpram32_and_check. Assignments to the return variable status that are no longer needed were removed as well. In one function up the call chain, dsp_reload in ft1000_hw.c, the status variable was changed from u16 to int to avoid collecting a signed value in an unsigned variable. sig_cfg.clk_pol controls the 'di0_polarity_disp_clk' bit of register IPUx_DI0_GENERAL through the following code in imx-drm/ipu-v3/ipu-di.c: if (!sig->clk_pol) di_gen |= DI_GEN_POLARITY_DISP_CLK; With 'di0_polarity_disp_clk' bit set we do not have stable HDMI output on mx6solo: contours of pictures look jittery and the white colour does not appear really white. 2013-10-29usb: cdc-wdm: ignore speed change notificationsBjørn Mork
The only notification supported by the Device Management class is Response Available. But this driver is also used as a subdriver of other CDC classes, allowing notifications like Speed Change and Network Connection. This results in log messages which are only confusing to an end user: [66255.801874] cdc_mbim 1-3:1.5: unknown notification 42 received: index 5 len 8 These drivers use cdc-wdm as a subdriver to allow access to an embedded management protocol, and all management is expected to use this protocol. There is therefore no need to handle any of these optional CDC notifications. Instead we can let the cdc-wdm driver recognize them and log a debug level message instead of an error. suppressed" messages pr_debug_ratelimited should be coded similarly to dev_dbg_ratelimited to reduce the "callbacks suppressed" messages. Add #include <linux/dynamic_debug.h> to printk.h. Unfortunately, this new #include must be after the prototype/declaration of function printk. It may be better to split out these _ratelimited declarations into a separate file one day. Any use of these pr_<foo>_ratelimited functions must also have another specific #include <ratelimited.h>. Most users have this done indirectly via #include <linux/kernel.h> printk.h may not #include <linux/ratelimit.h> as it causes circular dependencies and compilation failures. If RS-485 is enabled, make the OMAP UART fire THR interrupts when both TX FIFO and TX shift register are empty instead of polling the equivalent status bit. This removes the burst of interrupt requests seen at every end of transmission. Also: the comment said that the TX FIFO trigger level was set at 16 characters when it's 32 in reality. 2013-10-29serial: omap: Add support for optional wake-upTony Lindgren
With the recent pinctrl-single changes, omaps can treat wake-up events from deeper idle states as interrupts. There's a separate "io chain" controller on most omaps that stays enabled when the device hits off-idle and the regular interrupt controller is powered off. Let's add support for the optional second interrupt for wake-up events. And then serial-omap can manage the wake-up interrupt from it's runtime PM calls to avoid spurious interrupts during runtime. Note that the wake interrupt is board specific as it uses the UART RX pin, and for omap3, there are six pin options for UART3 RX pin. Also Note that the legacy platform based booting handles the wake-ups in the legacy mux driver and does not need to pass the wake-up interrupt to the driver. And finally, to pass the wake-up interrupt in the dts file, either interrupt-map or the pending interrupts-extended property needs to be passed. It's probably best to use interrupts-extended when it's available. When CONFIG_FRAME_WARN is set low (e.g. some ARM builds), the hard-coded stack buffer size used for kernel stack over run testing triggers build warnings. Instead, avoid the warning by recalcuating the buffer size and recursion count needed to trigger the test. Also uses the recursion counter indirectly to avoid changing the parameter during the test. 2013-10-29sysfs: merge sysfs_elem_bin_attr into sysfs_elem_attrTejun Heo
3124eb1679 ("sysfs: merge regular and bin file handling") folded bin file handling into regular file handling. Among other things, bin file now shares the same open path including sysfs_open_dirent association using sysfs_dirent->s_attr.open. This is buggy because ->s_bin_attr lives in the same union and doesn't have the field. This bug doesn't trigger because sysfs_elem_bin_attr doesn't have an active field at the conflicting position. It does have a field "buffers" but it isn't used anymore. This patch collapses sysfs_elem_bin_attr into sysfs_elem_attr so that the bin_attr is accessed through ->s_attr.bin_attr which lives with ->s_attr.attr in an anonymous union. The code paths already assume bin_attr contains attr as the first element, so this doesn't add any more assumptions while making it explicit that the two types are handled together. Currently multicast code attempts to extrace the vlan id from the skb even when vlan filtering is disabled. This can lead to mdb entries being created with the wrong vlan id. Pass the already extracted vlan id to the multicast filtering code to make the correct id is used in creation as well as lookup.
