Unfortunately the 'flags' parameter was reused for the inner lock, clobbering the originally saved IRQ state. This patch fixes the issue by changing the inner lock to plain spin_lock without irqsave. 2015-05-25net: dp83640: fix broken calibration routine.Richard Cochran
Currently, the calibration function that corrects the initial offsets among multiple devices only works the first time. If the function is called more than once, the calibration fails and bogus offsets will be programmed into the devices. In a well hidden spot, the device documentation tells that trigger indexes 0 and 1 are special in allowing the TRIG_IF_LATE flag to actually work. stmmac DebugFS entries are currently global to the driver. As a result, having more than one stmmac device in the system creates the following error: * ERROR stmmaceth, debugfs create directory failed * stmmac_hw_setup: failed debugFS registration This also results in being able to access the debugfs information for the first registered device only. This patch changes the debugfs structure to have one sub-directory per net-device. Files under "/sys/kernel/debug/stmmaceth" will now show-up under /sys/kernel/debug/stmmaceth/ethN/. 2015-05-25x86: bpf_jit: fix compilation of large bpf programsAlexei Starovoitov
x86 has variable length encoding. x86 JIT compiler is trying to pick the shortest encoding for given bpf instruction. While doing so the jump targets are changing, so JIT is doing multiple passes over the program. Typical program needs 3 passes. Some very short programs converge with 2 passes. Large programs may need 4 or 5. But specially crafted bpf programs may hit the pass limit and if the program converges on the last iteration the JIT compiler will be producing an image full of 'int 3' insns. Fix this corner case by doing final iteration over bpf program. 2015-05-25net: phy: bcm7xxx: Fix 7425 PHY ID and flagsFlorian Fainelli
While adding support for 7425 PHY in the 7xxx PHY driver, the ID that was used was actually coming from an external PHY: a BCM5461x. Fix this by using the proper ID for the internal 7425 PHY and set the PHY_IS_INTERNAL flag, otherwise consumers of this PHY driver would not be able to properly identify it as such. 2015-05-24serial: imx: Fix DMA handling for IDLE condition abortsPhilipp Zabel
The driver configures the IDLE condition to interrupt the SDMA engine. Since the SDMA UART ROM script doesn't clear the IDLE bit itself, this caused repeated 1-byte DMA transfers, regardless of available data in the RX FIFO. Also, when returning due to the IDLE condition, the UART ROM script already increased its counter, causing residue to be off by one. This patch clears the IDLE condition to avoid repeated 1-byte DMA transfers and decreases count by when the DMA transfer was aborted due to the IDLE condition, fixing serial transfers using DMA on i.MX6Q. 2015-05-24serial/amba-pl011: Unconditionally poll for FIFO space before each TX charDave Martin
Commit 734745caeb9f155ab58918834a8c70e83fa6afd3 serial/amba-pl011: (Activate TX IRQ passively) introduces a race which causes the driver sometimes to attempt to write a character to the TX FIFO when the FIFO is already full. The PL011 does not guarantee its behaviour when the FIFO is overfilled. In practice, this can cause duplicate and/or dropped characters to be output on the wire. The problem is common enough to be readily observable on the ARM Juno platform when the PL011 UART is used as the console and DMA is not in use. This patch fixes this problem by always polling for space before each character is written to the FIFO. This will be amended to a less brute-force approach in a later commit, but this patch should help ensure correct behaviour for now. Regression in commit 638139eb95d2 ("usb: hub: allow to process more usb hub events in parallel") The regression resulted in intermittent failure to initialise a 10-port hub (with three internal VL812 4-port hub controllers) on boot, with a failure rate of around 8%, due to multiple race conditions when accessing addr_dev and slot_id in struct xhci_hcd. This regression also exposed a problem with xhci_setup_device, which "should be protected by the usb_address0_mutex" but no longer is due to commit 6fecd4f2a58c ("USB: separate usb_address0 mutexes for each bus") With separate buses (and locks) it is no longer the case that a single lock will protect xhci_setup_device from accesses by two parallel threads processing events on the two buses. Fix this by adding a mutex to protect addr_dev and slot_id in struct xhci_hcd, and by making the assignment of slot_id atomic. This reverts commit 7290006d8c0900c56d8c58428134f02c35109d17. Through the regression report, it was revealed that the tpacpi_led_set() call to thinkpad_acpi helper doesn't only toggle the mute LED but actually mutes the sound. This is contradiction to the expectation, and rather confuses user. According to Henrique, it's not trivial to judge which TP model behaves "LED-only" and which model does whatever more intrusive, as Lenovo's implementations vary model by model. So, from the safety reason, we should revert the patch for now. 2015-05-24ALSA: firewire-lib: use dev_err() when detecting incoming streaming errorTakashi Sakamoto
When detecting invalid value in 'dbs' field of CIP header or packet discontinuity, current implementation reports the status by err_info(). In most cases this state is caused by model-specific issue due to vendor's customization and should be reported to developers. This commit use dev_err() instead of dev_info() for this purpose. In the cases, packet streaming is aborted, thus no message floading occurs. This commit passes the number of data blocks from incoming packet processing to outgoing packet processing for the synchronization. For normal mode, isochronous callback handler is changed to generate the values of syt and data blocks. blocks than expected In IEC 61883-6, the number of data blocks in a packet is limited up to the value of SYT_INTERVAL. Current implementation is compliant to the limitation, while it can cause buffer-over-run when the value of dbs field in received packet is illegally large. This commit adds a validator to detect such illegal packets to prevent the buffer-over-run. Actually, the buffer is aligned to the size of memory page, thus this issue hardly causes system errors due to the room to page alignment, as long as a few packets includes such jumbo payload; i.e. a packet to several received packets. Here, Behringer F-Control Audio 202 (based on OXFW 960) has a quirk to postpone transferring isochronous packet till finish handling any asynchronous packets. In this case, this model is lazy, transfers no packets according to several cycle-start packets. After finishing, this model pushes required data in next isochronous packet. As a result, the packet include more data blocks than IEC 61883-6 defines. To continue to support this model, this commit adds a new flag to extend the length of calculated payload. This flag allows the size of payload 5 times as large as IEC 61883-6 defines. As a result, packets from this model passed the validator successfully.
