Use interface rather than usb-serial device for debugging interface related operations. This gives more descriptive messages, such as [ 905.669436] pl2303 1-4.1:1.0: 0x40:0x1:0x8:0x0 0 rather than [ 341.943535] usb 1-4.1: 0x40:0x1:0x8:0x0 0 Signed-off-by: Johan Hovold <jhovold@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

2013-03-25USB: ftdi_sio: remove obsolete port data refcountingJohan Hovold
Remove the port data refcounting and release the private data explicitly at port remove. The port data refcounting was used to make sure the port data was not freed until the last tty reference was closed. Since moving over to tty ports, the underlying assumptions are no longer valid as close is now called as part of tty port shutdown, which can occur before the final tty reference is dropped on device disconnect. This means that the private port data refcounting is now completely useless, as the last reference will always be dropped on port_remove. 2013-03-25USB: serial: comments on suspend failureMing Lei
If suspend callback fails in system sleep context, usb core will ignore the failure and let system sleep go ahead further, so this patch comments on the case and requires that serial->type->suspend() MUST return 0 in system sleep context. 2013-03-21USB: ftdi_sio: fix use-after-free in TIOCMIWAITJohan Hovold
Use the port wait queue and make sure to check the serial disconnected flag before accessing private port data after waking up. This is is needed as the private port data (including the wait queue itself) can be gone when waking up after a disconnect. When switching to tty ports, some lifetime assumptions were changed. Specifically, close can now be called before the final tty reference is dropped as part of hangup at device disconnect. Even with the ftdi private-data refcounting this means that the port private data can be freed while a process is sleeping on modem-status changes and thus cannot be relied on to detect disconnects when woken up. 2013-03-13USB: quatech2: only write to the tty if the port is open.Bill Pemberton
The commit 2e124b4a390ca85325fae75764bef92f0547fa25 removed the checks that prevented qt2_process_read_urb() from trying to put chars into ttys that weren't actually opened. This resulted in 'tty is NULL' warnings from flush_to_ldisc() when the device was used. The devices use just one read urb for all ports. As a result qt2_process_read_urb() may be called with the current port set to a port number that has not been opened. Add a check if the port is open before calling tty_flip_buffer_push(). 2013-02-13USB: option: add Huawei "ACM" devices using protocol = vendorBjørn Mork
The USB device descriptor of one identity presented by a few Huawei morphing devices have serial functions with class codes 02/02/ff, indicating CDC ACM with a vendor specific protocol. This combination is often used for MSFT RNDIS functions, and the CDC ACM class driver will therefore ignore such functions. The CDC ACM class driver cannot support functions with only 2 endpoints. The underlying serial functions of these modems are also believed to be the same as for alternate device identities already supported by the option driver. Letting the same driver handle these functions independently of the current identity ensures consistent handling and user experience. There is no need to blacklist these devices in the rndis_host driver. Huawei serial functions will either have only 2 endpoints or a CDC ACM functional descriptor with bmCapabilities != 0, making them correctly ignored as "non RNDIS" by that driver. 2013-02-13USB: serial: fix null-pointer dereferences on disconnectJohan Hovold
Make sure serial-driver dtr_rts is called with disc_mutex held after checking the disconnected flag. Due to a bug in the tty layer, dtr_rts may get called after a device has been disconnected and the tty-device unregistered. Some drivers have had individual checks for disconnect to make sure the disconnected interface was not accessed, but this should really be handled in usb-serial core (at least until the long-standing tty-bug has been fixed). Note that the problem has been made more acute with commit 0998d0631001 ("device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound") as the port data is now also NULL when dtr_rts is called resulting in further oopses.
