2025-02-19cifs: Treat unhandled directory name surrogate reparse points as mount ↵Pali Rohár
directory nodes If the reparse point was not handled (indicated by the -EOPNOTSUPP from ops->parse_reparse_point() call) but reparse tag is of type name surrogate directory type, then treat is as a new mount point. Name surrogate reparse point represents another named entity in the system. From SMB client point of view, this another entity is resolved on the SMB server, and server serves its content automatically. Therefore from Linux client point of view, this name surrogate reparse point of directory type crosses mount point. 2024-09-29smb: Update comments about some reparse point tagsPali Rohár
NFS-style reparse points are recognized only by the Windows NFS server 2012 and new. Windows 8 does not contain Windows NFS server, so these reparse points are not used on Windows 8. Reparse points with IO_REPARSE_TAG_AF_UNIX tag were primarily introduced for native Win32 AF_UNIX sockets and later were re-used by also by WSL: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/commandline/af_unix-comes-to-windows/ https://devblogs.microsoft.com/commandline/windowswsl-interop-with-af_unix/ Signed-off-by: Pali Rohár <pali@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Steve French <stfrench@microsoft.com>
2024-03-10smb: client: add support for WSL reparse pointsPaulo Alcantara
Add support for creating special files via WSL reparse points when using 'reparse=wsl' mount option. They're faster than NFS reparse points because they don't require extra roundtrips to figure out what ->d_type a specific dirent is as such information is already stored in query dir responses and then making getdents() calls faster.
