2020-05-07xfs: simplify inode flush error handlingBrian Foster
The inode flush code has several layers of error handling between the inode and cluster flushing code. If the inode flush fails before acquiring the backing buffer, the inode flush is aborted. If the cluster flush fails, the current inode flush is aborted and the cluster buffer is failed to handle the initial inode and any others that might have been attached before the error. Since xfs_iflush() is the only caller of xfs_iflush_cluster(), the error handling between the two can be condensed in the top-level function. If we update xfs_iflush_int() to always fall through to the log item update and attach the item completion handler to the buffer, any errors that occur after the first call to xfs_iflush_int() can be handled with a buffer I/O failure. Lift the error handling from xfs_iflush_cluster() into xfs_iflush() and consolidate with the existing error handling. This also replaces the need to release the buffer because failing the buffer with XBF_ASYNC drops the current reference. 2020-05-07xfs: refactor failed buffer resubmission into xfsaildBrian Foster
Flush locked log items whose underlying buffers fail metadata writeback are tagged with a special flag to indicate that the flush lock is already held. This is currently implemented in the type specific ->iop_push() callback, but the processing required for such items is not type specific because we're only doing basic state management on the underlying buffer. Factor the failed log item handling out of the inode and dquot ->iop_push() callbacks and open code the buffer resubmit helper into a single helper called from xfsaild_push_item(). This provides a generic mechanism for handling failed metadata buffer writeback with a bit less code. 2020-05-06eventfd: convert to f_op->read_iter()Jens Axboe
eventfd is using ->read() as it's file_operations read handler, but this prevents passing in information about whether a given IO operation is blocking or not. We can only use the file flags for that. To support async (-EAGAIN/poll based) retries for io_uring, we need ->read_iter() support. Convert eventfd to using ->read_iter(). With ->read_iter(), we can support IOCB_NOWAIT. Ensure the fd setup is done such that we set file->f_mode with FMODE_NOWAIT. 2020-05-06gfs2: fix withdraw sequence deadlockBob Peterson
After a gfs2 file system withdraw, any attempt to read metadata is automatically rejected by function gfs2_meta_read() except for reads of the journal inode. This turns out to be a problem because function signal_our_withdraw() repeatedly calls check_journal_clean() which reads the metadata (both its dinode and indirect blocks) to see if the entire journal is mapped. The dinode read works, but reading the indirect blocks returns -EIO which gets sent back up and causes a consistency error. This results in withdraw-from-withdraw, which becomes a deadlock. This patch changes the test in gfs2_meta_read() to allow all metadata reads for the journal. Instead of checking the journal block, it now checks for the journal inode glock which is the same for all blocks in the journal. This allows check_journal_clean() to properly check the journal without trying to withdraw recursively. 2020-05-05binfmt_elf: remove the set_fs in fill_siginfo_noteEric W. Biederman
The code in binfmt_elf.c is differnt from the rest of the code that processes siginfo, as it sends siginfo from a kernel buffer to a file rather than from kernel memory to userspace buffers. To remove it's use of set_fs the code needs some different siginfo helpers. Add the helper copy_siginfo_to_external to copy from the kernel's internal siginfo layout to a buffer in the siginfo layout that userspace expects. Modify fill_siginfo_note to use copy_siginfo_to_external instead of set_fs and copy_siginfo_to_user. 2020-05-05io_uring: handle -EFAULT properly in io_uring_setup()Xiaoguang Wang
If copy_to_user() in io_uring_setup() failed, we'll leak many kernel resources, which will be recycled until process terminates. This bug can be reproduced by using mprotect to set params to PROT_READ. To fix this issue, refactor io_uring_create() a bit to add a new 'struct io_uring_params __user *params' parameter and move the copy_to_user() in io_uring_setup() to io_uring_setup(), if copy_to_user() failed, we can free kernel resource properly. 2020-05-04fs/xfs: Combine xfs_diflags_to_linux() and xfs_diflags_to_iflags()Ira Weiny
The functionality in xfs_diflags_to_linux() and xfs_diflags_to_iflags() are nearly identical. The only difference is that *_to_linux() is called after inode setup and disallows changing the DAX flag. Combining them can be done with a flag which indicates if this is the initial setup to allow the DAX flag to be properly set only at init time. So remove xfs_diflags_to_linux() and call the modified xfs_diflags_to_iflags() directly. While we are here simplify xfs_diflags_to_iflags() to take struct xfs_inode and use xfs_ip2xflags() to ensure future diflags are included correctly.
