2019-06-13ASoC: SOF: Add DMIC token for unmute gain ramp timeSeppo Ingalsuo
The settling time of DMIC DC level is both platform and used microphone model specific. The unmute gain ramp is used to conceal most of the large DC level seen in beginning of capture. This patch adds into the DMIC DAI IPC struct a new field called unmute_ramp_time and a new token SOF_TKN_INTEL_DMIC_UNMUTE_RAMP_TIME. The value is the ramp length in milliseconds (ms). The ABI minor version is incremented for this backwards compatible change. 2019-06-06ASoC: soc-core: use snd_soc_dai_link_component for CPUKuninori Morimoto
current ALSA SoC is starting to support modern style dai_linke (= struct snd_soc_dai_link_component) which is mainly used for multipul DAI/component connection. Now Codec has full multi-codec support, Platform is using modern style but still for single Platform. Only CPU is not yet supporting modern style yet. If we could support it for CPU, we can switch to modern style dai_link on all CPU/Codec/Platform, and remove legacy style from ALSA SoC. Multi-CPU will be supported in the future. Timer will be reset when DSP is powered down. So the time stamp of trace log will be reset after resume. Send time stamp to FW can align the time stamp and avoid reset time stamp in trace log. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound into for-linus ASoC: Updates for v5.2 This is a pretty huge set of changes, it's been a pretty active release all round but the big thing with this release is the Sound Open Firmware changes from Intel, providing another DSP framework for use with the DSPs in their SoCs. This one works with the firmware of the same name which is free software (unlike the previous DSP firmwares and framework) and there has been some interest in adoption by other systems already so hopefully we will see adoption by other vendors in the future. 2019-04-28ASoC: SOF: Add Sound Open Firmware driver coreLiam Girdwood
The Sound Open Firmware driver core is a generic architecture independent layer that allows SOF to be used on many different architectures and platforms. It abstracts DSP operations and IO methods so that the target DSP can be an internal memory mapped or external SPI or I2C based device. This abstraction also allows SOF to be run on many different VMs on the same physical HW. SOF also requires some data in ASoC PCM runtime data for looking up SOF data during ASoC PCM operations. 2019-04-17ALSA: core: Don't refer to snd_cards array directlyTakashi Iwai
The snd_cards[] array holds the card pointers that have been currently registered, and it's exported for the external modules that may need to refer a card object. But accessing to this array can be racy against the driver probe or removal, as the card registration or free may happen concurrently. This patch gets rid of the direct access to snd_cards[] array and provides a helper function to give the card object from the index number with a refcount management. Then the caller can access to the given card object safely, and releases it via snd_card_unref(). This is essentially a revert of the commit a7588c896b05 ("ALSA: timer: Check ack_list emptiness instead of bit flag"). The intended change by the commit turns out to be insufficient, as snd_timer_close*() always calls snd_timer_stop() that deletes the ack_list beforehand. In theory, we can change the behavior of snd_timer_stop() to sync the pending ack_list, but this will become a deadlock for the callback like sequencer that calls again snd_timer_stop() from itself. So, reverting the change is a more straightforward solution. 2019-04-08ASoC: core: conditionally increase module refcount on component openRanjani Sridharan
Recently, for Intel platforms the "ignore_module_refcount" field was introduced for the component driver. In order to avoid a deadlock preventing the PCI modules from being removed even when the card was idle, the refcounts were not incremented for the device driver module during component probe. However, this change introduced a nasty side effect: the device driver module can be unloaded while a pcm stream is open. This patch proposes to change the field to be renamed as "module_get_upon_open". When this field is set, the module refcount should be incremented on pcm open amd decremented upon pcm close. This will enable modules to be removed when no PCM playback/capture happens and prevent removal when the component is actually in use. Also, align with the skylake component driver with the new name. 2019-03-27ALSA: Replace snd_malloc_pages() and snd_free_pages() with standard helpers, ↵Takashi Iwai
take#2 snd_malloc_pages() and snd_free_pages() are merely thin wrappers of the standard page allocator / free functions. Even the arguments are compatible with some standard helpers, so there is little merit of keeping these wrappers. This patch replaces the all existing callers of snd_malloc_pages() and snd_free_pages() with the direct calls of the standard helper functions. In this version, we use a recently introduced one, alloc_pages_exact(), which suits better than the old snd_malloc_pages() implementation for our purposes. Then we can avoid the waste of pages by alignment to power-of-two. Since alloc_pages_exact() does split pages, we need no longer __GFP_COMP flag; or better to say, we must not pass __GFP_COMP to alloc_pages_exact(). So the former unconditional addition of __GFP_COMP flag in snd_malloc_pages() is dropped, as well as in most other places.
