The PCI IRQs were regressing due to two things:
- The PCI glue layer was using an hard-coded IRQ 27 offset.
This caused the immediate regression.
- The SIC IRQ mask was inverted (i.e. a bit was indeed set to
one for each valid IRQ on the SIC, but accidentally inverted
in the init call). This has been around forever, but we have
been saved by some other forgiving code that would reserve
IRQ descriptors in this range, as the versatile is
non-sparse.
When the IRQs were bumped up 32 steps so as to avoid using IRQ
zero and avoid touching the 16 legacy IRQs, things broke.
Introduce an explicit valid mask for the IRQs that are active
on the PIC/SIC, and pass that. Use the BIT() macro from
<linux/bitops.h> to make sure we hit the right bits, readily
defined in <mach/platform.h>.

As the default, we blackhole packets until the key manager resolves
the states. This patch implements a packet queue where IPsec packets
are queued until the states are resolved. We generate a dummy xfrm
bundle, the output routine of the returned route enqueues the packet
to a per policy queue and arms a timer that checks for state resolution
when dst_output() is called. Once the states are resolved, the packets
are sent out of the queue. If the states are not resolved after some
time, the queue is flushed.
This patch keeps the defaut behaviour to blackhole packets as long
as we have no states. To enable the packet queue the sysctl
xfrm_larval_drop must be switched off.

As of commit fea82210 ("m68k: switch to saner kernel_execve() semantics")
the non-mmu m68k targets have trapped on booting. The execing of /bin/init
causes the exec path to try and return through a 0x0 return address - thus
trapping or otherwise hanging or crashing.
The problem isn't in the exec path as such though, but rather in the
m68knommu start_thread() macro. It is trying to clear the a6 register that
it assumes is part of a struct switch_stack below the thread registers on
our stack. But that is not what the stack frames look like when this is run.
So it ends up corrupting our call stack and zeroing out a function return
address that is sitting there.
The clearing of a6 was introduced many years ago in commit 7bf9a37d8d
("m68knommu: force stack alignment on ColdFire"). It used to work because
the kernel init exec code path had a short cut back to the exception return
code, and it didn't need to return through the calls on the stack.

In our test lab, we have a simple SCTP client connecting to a SCTP
server via an IPVS load balancer. On some machines, load balancing
works, but on others the initial handshake just fails, thus no
SCTP connection whatsoever can be established!
We observed that the SCTP INIT-ACK handshake reply from the IPVS
machine to the client had a correct IP checksum, but corrupt SCTP
checksum when forwarded, thus on the client-side the packet was
dropped and an intial handshake retriggered until all attempts
run into the void.
To fix this issue, this patch i) adds a missing CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY
after the full checksum (re-)calculation (as done in IPVS TCP and UDP
code as well), ii) calculates the checksum in little-endian format
(as fixed with the SCTP code in commit 4458f04c: sctp: Clean up sctp
checksumming code) and iii) refactors duplicate checksum code into a
common function. Tested by myself.

"cpufreq" directory in policy->cpu is never created using
sysfs_create_link(), but using kobject_init_and_add(). And so we
shouldn't call sysfs_remove_link() for policy->cpu(). sysfs stuff
for policy->cpu is automatically removed when we call kobject_put()
for dying policy.

We specifically do not update the disk i_size if there are ordered extents
outstanding for any area between the current disk_i_size and our ordered
extent so that we do not expose stale data. The problem is the check we
have only checks if the ordered extent starts at or after the current
disk_i_size, which doesn't take into account an ordered extent that starts
before the current disk_i_size and ends past the disk_i_size. Fix this by
checking if the extent ends past the disk_i_size. Thanks,

If we have an ordered extent before the ordered extent we are currently
completing that is after the current disk_i_size we will put our i_size
update into that ordered extent so that we do not expose stale data. The
problem is that if our disk i_size is updated past the previous ordered
extent we won't update the i_size with the pending i_size update. So check
the pending i_size update and if its above the current disk i_size we need
to go ahead and try to update. Thanks,

While running snapshot testscript created by Mitch and David,
the race between autodefrag and snapshot deletion can lead to
corruption of dead_root list so that we can get crash on
btrfs_clean_old_snapshots().
And besides autodefrag, scrub also does the same thing, ie. read
root first and get inode.
Here is the story(take autodefrag as an example):
(1) when we delete a snapshot or subvolume, it will set its root's
refs to zero and do a iput() on its own inode, and if this inode happens
to be the only active in-meory one in root's inode rbtree, it will add
itself to the global dead_roots list for later cleanup.
(2) after (1), the autodefrag thread may read another inode for defrag
and the inode is just in the deleted snapshot/subvolume, but all of these
are without checking if the root is still valid(refs > 0). So the end up
result is adding the deleted snapshot/subvolume's root to the global
dead_roots list AGAIN.
Fortunately, we already have a srcu lock to avoid the race, ie. subvol_srcu.
So all we need to do is to take the lock to protect 'read root and get inode',
since we synchronize to wait for the rcu grace period before adding something
to the global dead_roots list.

You can run into this problem where if somebody is fsyncing and writing out
the existing extents you will have removed the extent map from the em tree,
but it's still valid for the current fsync so we go ahead and write it. The
problem is we unconditionally try to merge it back into the em tree, but if
we've removed it from the em tree that will cause use after free problems.
Fix this to only merge if we are still a part of the tree. Thanks,

fixes from Josh Hay, resolved a possible NULL pointer dereference and
resolved Smatch warnings by fixing return values and memcpy parameters.
Alex provides 2 fixes, the first is to replace rmb() with
read_barrier_depends() in the Tx cleanup. The second fixes an MTU
warning when using SR-IOV which corrects the fact that we were using 1522

size. Lastly, a patch from Emil which is based on a community patch from

TCP Appropriate Byte Count was added by me, but later disabled.
There is no point in maintaining it since it is a potential source
of bugs and Linux already implements other better window protection
heuristics.

All in-tree ipv4 protocol implementations are now namespace
aware. Therefore all the run-time checks are superfluous.
Reject registry of any non-namespace aware ipv4 protocol.
Eventually we'll remove prot->netns_ok and this registry
time check as well.

The infrastructure is already pretty much entirely there
to allow this conversion.
The tunnel and session lookups have per-namespace tables,
and the ipv4 bind lookup includes the namespace in the
lookup key.

When creating unmanaged tunnel sockets we should honour the network namespace
passed to l2tp_tunnel_create. Furthermore, unmanaged tunnel sockets should
not hold a reference to the network namespace lest they accidentally keep
alive a namespace which should otherwise have been released.
Unmanaged tunnel sockets now drop their namespace reference via sk_change_net,
and are released in a new pernet exit callback, l2tp_exit_net.

l2tp_tunnel_create is passed a pointer to the network namespace for the
tunnel, along with an optional file descriptor for the tunnel which may
be passed in from userspace via. netlink.
In the case where the file descriptor is defined, ensure that the namespace
associated with that socket matches the namespace explicitly passed to
l2tp_tunnel_create.

To allow l2tp_tunnel_delete to be called from an atomic context, place the
tunnel socket release calls on a workqueue for asynchronous execution.
Tunnel memory is eventually freed in the tunnel socket destructor.

The ipv6 route.c conflict is simple, just ignore the 'net' side change
as we fixed the same problem in 'net-next' by eliminating cached
neighbours from ipv6 routes.
The e1000e conflict is an addition of a new statistic in the ethtool
code, trivial.
The vmxnet3 conflict is about one change in 'net' removing a guarding
conditional, whilst in 'net-next' we had a netdev_info() conversion.
The iwlwifi conflict is dealing with a WARN_ON() conversion in
'net-next' vs. a revert happening in 'net'.

Commit 08ff32352d6f ("mlx4: 64-byte CQE/EQE support") introduced a
regression where older guest VF drivers failed to load even when
64-byte EQEs/CQEs are disabled, since the PF wrongly advertises the
new context behaviour anyway. The failure looks like:
mlx4_core 0000:00:07.0: Unknown pf context behaviour
mlx4_core 0000:00:07.0: Failed to obtain slave caps
mlx4_core: probe of 0000:00:07.0 failed with error -38
Fix this by basing this advertisement on dev->caps.flags, which is the
operational capabilities used by the QUERY_FUNC_CAP command wrapper
(dev_cap->flags holds the firmware capabilities).

After commit b13912bbb4a2 ("IPoIB: Call skb_dst_drop() once skb is
enqueued for sending"), using connected mode and running multithreaded
iperf for long time, ie
iperf -c <IP> -P 16 -t 3600
results in a crash.
After the above-mentioned patch, the driver is calling skb_orphan() and
skb_dst_drop() after calling post_send() in ipoib_cm.c::ipoib_cm_send()
(also in ipoib_ib.c::ipoib_send())
The problem with this is, as is written in a comment in both routines,
"it's entirely possible that the completion handler will run before we
execute anything after the post_send()." This leads to running the
skb cleanup routines simultaneously in two different contexts.
The solution is to always perform the skb_orphan() and skb_dst_drop()
before queueing the send work request. If an error occurs, then it
will be no different than the regular case where dev_free_skb_any() in
the completion path, which is assumed to be after these two routines.

This SPI controller does not support keeping CS asserted after sending
a transfer.
Since messages expected on this SPI controller are rather short, we can
work around it for normal use cases by sending all transfers at once in
a big full duplex stream.
This means that we cannot change the speed between transfers if they
require CS to be kept asserted, but these would have been rejected
before anyway because of the inability of keeping CS asserted.

With RT pre-empt patch applied to Linux kernel, the irq handler will be
force converted to an irq thread. spi driver can get back to back messages
from the slave device. In such cases, IRQ thread doesn't get a chance to
run to read the slave data. Hence the irq handler must be run in hard irq
context to read/write data from slave device. Otherwise, the kernel goes
into a deadlock. This patch fixes this issue when PREEMPT_RT_FULL is
enabled in the kernel. A dummy thread function is provided to satisfy the
request_threaded_irq() API. Passing a NULL for function also causes the
irq handler to be executed in the thread context.

The TIS specification (pg 47) says the valid bit must be set, but
the TPM will not set it until it has completed its internal startup.
The driver checks that the valid bit is set during request_locality,
but it issues a TPM_ACCESS_REQUEST_USE without validating the
valid bit is set.
Some TPMs will ignore the TPM_ACCESS_REQUEST_USE, until valid is
set which causes the request_locality to timeout, which breaks the
driver attach.
Wait one timeout unit for valid to assert. If valid does not assert
then assume -ENODEV.
Seen on embedded with a:
1.2 TPM (device-id 0x3204, rev-id 64)

On one of my machines the cancellation of TPM commands does not work.
The reason is that by writing into sysfs 'cancel' the tpm_tis_ready
call causes the status flag TPM_STS_VALID to be set in the statusregister.
However, the TIS driver seems to wait for TPM_STS_COMMAND_READY.
Once a 2nd time sysfs 'cancel' is written to, the TPM_STS_COMMAND_READY flag
also gets set, resulting in TPM_STS_VALID|TPM_STS_COMMAND_READY to be
read from the status register.
This patch now converts req_canceled into a function to enable more complex
comparisons against possible cancellation status codes.

We've been testing an alternative TPM for our embedded products and
found random kernel boot failures due to time outs after the continue
self test command.
This was happening randomly, and has been *very* hard to track down, but
it
looks like with this chip there is some kind of race with the
tpm_tis_status()
check of TPM_STS_COMMAND_READY. If things get there 'too fast' then
it sees the chip is ready, or tpm_tis_ready() works. Otherwise it takes
somewhere over 400ms before the chip will return TPM_STS_COMMAND_READY.
Adding some delay after tpm_continue_selftest() makes things reliably
hit the failure path, otherwise it is a crapshot.

When no i2c bus exists, user-space can cause an oops by triggering a
device probe through a message sent to an i2c "new_device" sysfs entry.
Adding a check for a NULL i2c client structure in the probe function
closes the hole.
This patch also fixes accessing the NULL client struct in the print
function call reporting the error.

This is the driver for TPM chip from ST Microelectronics.
If you have a TPM security chip from STMicroelectronics working with
an I2C, in menuconfig or .config choose the tpm driver on
device --> tpm and activate the protocol of your choice before compiling
the kernel.
The driver will be accessible from within Linux.
Tested on linux x86/x64, beagleboard REV B & XM REV C and CHROMIUM OS
