Commit fb59581404ab7ec5075299065c22cb211a9262a9 removed xfs_flushinval_pages() and changed its callers to use filemap_write_and_wait() and truncate_pagecache_range() directly. But in xfs_swap_extents() this change accidental switched the argument for 'tip' to 'ip'. The code terminate processing when the limit is reached regardless the txstatus value read from the device register. When that status is is flagged as being valid it must be processed as the hardware will clear it after is has been read. Running AIO is pinning inode in memory using file reference. Once AIO is completed using aio_complete(), file reference is put and inode can be freed from memory. So we have to be sure that calling aio_complete() is the last thing we do with the inode. When the new inode verify in xfs_iread() fails, the create transaction is aborted and a shutdown occurs. The subsequent unmount then hangs in xfs_wait_buftarg() on a buffer that has an elevated hold count. You can see at transaction abort the bli is dirty and only has a single reference. The item is not pinned, and it's not in the AIL. Hence the only reference to it is this transaction. The problem is that the xfs_buf_item_unlock() call is dropping the last reference to the xfs_buf_log_item attached to the buffer (which holds a reference to the buffer), but it is not freeing the xfs_buf_log_item. Hence nothing will ever release the buffer, and the unmount hangs waiting for this reference to go away. The fix is simple - xfs_buf_item_unlock needs to detect the last reference going away in this case and free the xfs_buf_log_item to release the reference it holds on the buffer. 2013-01-28xfs: limit speculative prealloc near ENOSPC thresholdsDave Chinner
There is a window on small filesytsems where specualtive preallocation can be larger than that ENOSPC throttling thresholds, resulting in specualtive preallocation trying to reserve more space than there is space available. This causes immediate ENOSPC to be triggered, prealloc to be turned off and flushing to occur. One the next write (i.e. next 4k page), we do exactly the same thing, and so effective drive into synchronous 4k writes by triggering ENOSPC flushing on every page while in the window between the prealloc size and the ENOSPC prealloc throttle threshold. Fix this by checking to see if the prealloc size would consume all free space, and throttle it appropriately to avoid premature ENOSPC... 2013-01-28xfs: fix _xfs_buf_find oops on blocks beyond the filesystem endDave Chinner
When _xfs_buf_find is passed an out of range address, it will fail to find a relevant struct xfs_perag and oops with a null dereference. This can happen when trying to walk a filesystem with a metadata inode that has a partially corrupted extent map (i.e. the block number returned is corrupt, but is otherwise intact) and we try to read from the corrupted block address. In this case, just fail the lookup. If it is readahead being issued, it will simply not be done, but if it is real read that fails we will get an error being reported. Ideally this case should result in an EFSCORRUPTED error being reported, but we cannot return an error through xfs_buf_read() or xfs_buf_get() so this lookup failure may result in ENOMEM or EIO errors being reported instead. 2013-01-28x86: Enable ARCH_USE_BUILTIN_BSWAPDavid Woodhouse
With -mmovbe enabled (implicit with -march=atom), this allows the compiler to use the movbe instruction. This doesn't have a significant effect on code size (unlike on PowerPC), because the movbe instruction actually takes as many bytes to encode as a simple mov and a bswap. But for Atom in particular I believe it should give a performance win over the mov+bswap alternative. That was kind of why movbe was invented in the first place, after all... I've done basic functionality testing with IPv6 and Legacy IP, but no performance testing. The EFI firmware on my test box unfortunately no longer starts up. The IOMMU may stop processing page translations due to a perceived lack of credits for writing upstream peripheral page service request (PPR) or event logs. If the L2B miscellaneous clock gating feature is enabled the IOMMU does not properly register credits after the log request has completed, leading to a potential system hang. BIOSes are supposed to disable L2B micellaneous clock gating by setting L2_L2B_CK_GATE_CONTROL[CKGateL2BMiscDisable](D0F2xF4_x90[2]) = 1b. This patch corrects that for those which do not enable this workaround. The cookie is now used to indicate if dma_unmap_sg shall be done in post_request. At DMA errors, the DMA job is immediately not only terminated but also unmapped. To indicate that this has been done the cookie is reset to zero. post_request will thus only do dma_umap_sg for requests which has a cookie not set to zero. Some corresponding duplicated code could then be removed and moreover some corrections at DMA errors for terminating the same DMA job twice has also been fixed. When unlocking a spinlock, all we need to do is increment the owner field of the lock. Since only one CPU can be performing an unlock() operation for a given lock, this doesn't need to be exclusive. The Versatile Express IOFPGA as shipped on VECD 5.0 (bitfiles v108/208 and v116/216) contains a modified version of the PL180 MMCI, with PeriphID Configuration value changed to 0x2. This version adds an optional "hardware flow control" feature. When enabled MMC card clock will be automatically disabled when FIFO is about to over/underflow and re-enabled once the host retrieved some data. This makes the controller immune to over/underrun errors caused by big interrupt handling latencies. This patch adds relevant device variant in the driver. This call-back points to the right function for initializing the msi_msg structure. The old code for msi_msg generation was split up into the irq-remapped and the default case. The irq-remapped case just calls into the specific Intel or AMD implementation when the device is behind an IOMMU. Otherwise the default function is called. 2013-01-28igbvf: be sane about random MAC addressesMitch A Williams
Tighten up some of the code surrounding MAC addresses. Since the PF is now giving all zeros instead of a random address, check for this case and generate a random address. This ensures that we always know when we have a random address and udev won't get upset about it. Additionally, tighten up some of the log messages and clean up the formatting.
