Above error on line number 69 that reports "Bad substitution" is: <<>> link=${build_id_dir}/.build-id/${id:0:2}/${id:2} <<>> Here the way of getting first two characters from id ie, ${id:0:2} and similarly expressions like ${id:2} is not recognised in "sh". So the line errors and instead of hitting failure, the test gets skipped as shown in logs. So the syntax issue causes test not to be executed in such cases. Similarly usage : "${@: -1}" [ to pick last argument passed to a function] in “test_record” doesn’t work in all distros. Fix this by using alternative way with shell substitution to pick required characters from the string. Also fix the usage of “${@: -1}” to work in all cases. Another usage in “test_record” is: <<>> ${perf} record --buildid-all -o ${data} $@ &> ${log} <<>> This causes the 'perf record' to start in background and Results in the data file not being created by the time "check" function is invoked. The statement above about the result being incorrect looks weird, and it is due to that particular perf build missing commit 3e11300cdfd5f1 ("perf test: Fix bpf test sample mismatch reporting"). In reality, due to commit 4b04e0decd2518 ("perf test: Fix basic bpf filtering test"), perf expects there to be 56*3 samples. However, the number of samples we receive is going to be dependent on where the probes are installed, which is dependent on where do_epoll_wait gets inlined. On s390x, it looks like probes at all the inlined locations are hit. But, that is not the case on ppc64le. Fix this by switching the test to instead use the syscall tracepoint. 2023-01-23ipv6: fix reachability confirmation with proxy_ndpGergely Risko
When proxying IPv6 NDP requests, the adverts to the initial multicast solicits are correct and working. On the other hand, when later a reachability confirmation is requested (on unicast), no reply is sent. This causes the neighbor entry expiring on the sending node, which is mostly a non-issue, as a new multicast request is sent. There are routers, where the multicast requests are intentionally delayed, and in these environments the current implementation causes periodic packet loss for the proxied endpoints. The root cause is the erroneous decrease of the hop limit, as this is checked in ndisc.c and no answer is generated when it's 254 instead of the correct 255. 2023-01-23net: ethtool: netlink: introduce ethnl_update_bool()Vladimir Oltean
Due to the fact that the kernel-side data structures have been carried over from the ioctl-based ethtool, we are now in the situation where we have an ethnl_update_bool32() function, but the plain function that operates on a boolean value kept in an actual u8 netlink attribute doesn't exist. With new ethtool features that are exposed solely over netlink, the kernel data structures will use the "bool" type, so we will need this kind of helper. 2023-01-23net: fec: Use page_pool_put_full_page when freeing rx buffersWei Fang
The page_pool_release_page was used when freeing rx buffers, and this function just unmaps the page (if mapped) and does not recycle the page. So after hundreds of down/up the eth0, the system will out of memory. For more details, please refer to the following reproduce steps and bug logs. To solve this issue and refer to the doc of page pool, the page_pool_put_full_page should be used to replace page_pool_release_page. Because this API will try to recycle the page if the page refcnt equal to 1. After testing 20000 times, the issue can not be reproduced anymore (about testing 391 times the issue will occur on i.MX8MN-EVK before). Reproduce steps: Create the test script and run the script. 2023-01-23ALSA: hda: Do not unset preset when cleaning up codecCezary Rojewski
Several functions that take part in codec's initialization and removal are re-used by ASoC codec drivers implementations. Drivers mimic the behavior of hda_codec_driver_probe/remove() found in sound/pci/hda/hda_bind.c with their component->probe/remove() instead. One of the reasons for that is the expectation of snd_hda_codec_device_new() to receive a valid pointer to an instance of struct snd_card. This expectation can be met only once sound card components probing commences. As ASoC sound card may be unbound without codec device being actually removed from the system, unsetting ->preset in snd_hda_codec_cleanup_for_unbind() interferes with module unload -> load scenario causing null-ptr-deref. Preset is assigned only once, during device/driver matching whereas ASoC codec driver's module reloading may occur several times throughout the lifetime of an audio stack. 2023-01-22perf cs-etm: Ensure that Coresight timestamps don't go backwardsJames Clark
There are some edge cases around estimated timestamps that can result in them going backwards. One is that after a discontinuity, the last used timestamp is set to 0. The duration of the next range is then subtracted which could result in an earlier timestamp than the last instruction. Fix this by not resetting the last timestamp used on a discontinuity, and make sure that new estimated timestamps are clamped to be later than that. Another case is that estimated timestamps could compound over time to end up being more than the next real timestamp in the trace. Fix this by clamping the estimates in cs_etm_decoder__do_soft_timestamp() to be no later than it. cs_etm_decoder__do_soft_timestamp() also updated next_cs_timestamp, which meant that the next real timestamp was lost and not stored anywhere. Fix that by only updating cs_timestamp for estimates and keep next_cs_timestamp untouched. Finally, use next_cs_timestamp to signify if a timestamp has been received previously. Because cs_timestamp has the first range subtracted, it could technically go to 0 which would break the logic. Testing ======= It can be verified that timestamps don't go backwards when tracing on a single core with the following commands. 2023-01-22perf test: Add Symbols testAdrian Hunter
Add a test to check function symbols do not overlap and are not zero length. The main motivation for the test is to make it easier to review changes to PLT symbol synthesis i.e. changes to dso__synthesize_plt_symbols(). By default the test uses the perf executable as a test DSO, but a specific DSO can be specified via a new perf test option "--dso". The test is useful in the following ways: - Any DSO can be tested, even ones that do not run on the current architecture. For example, using cross-compiled DSOs to see how well perf handles different architectures. - With verbose > 1 (e.g. -vv), all the symbols are printed, which makes it easier to see issues. - perf removes duplicate symbols and expands zero-length symbols to reach the next symbol, however that is done before adding synthesized symbols, so the test is checking those also. 2023-01-22KVM: x86/vmx: Do not skip segment attributes if unusable bit is setHendrik Borghorst
When serializing and deserializing kvm_sregs, attributes of the segment descriptors are stored by user space. For unusable segments, vmx_segment_access_rights skips all attributes and sets them to 0. This means we zero out the DPL (Descriptor Privilege Level) for unusable entries. Unusable segments are - contrary to their name - usable in 64bit mode and are used by guests to for example create a linear map through the NULL selector. VMENTER checks if SS.DPL is correct depending on the CS segment type. For types 9 (Execute Only) and 11 (Execute Read), CS.DPL must be equal to SS.DPL [1]. We have seen real world guests setting CS to a usable segment with DPL=3 and SS to an unusable segment with DPL=3. Once we go through an sregs get/set cycle, SS.DPL turns to 0. This causes the virtual machine to crash reproducibly. This commit changes the attribute logic to always preserve attributes for unusable segments. According to [2] SS.DPL is always saved on VM exits, regardless of the unusable bit so user space applications should have saved the information on serialization correctly. [3] specifies that besides SS.DPL the rest of the attributes of the descriptors are undefined after VM entry if unusable bit is set. So, there should be no harm in setting them all to the previous state. Commit b2b0a5e97855 switched from generic_writepages() to filemap_fdatawrite_wbc() in gfs2_ail1_start_one() on the path to replacing ->writepage() with ->writepages() and eventually eliminating the former. Function gfs2_ail1_start_one() is called from gfs2_log_flush(), our main function for flushing the filesystem log. Unfortunately, at least as implemented today, ->writepage() and ->writepages() are entirely different operations for journaled data inodes: while the former creates and submits transactions covering the data to be written, the latter flushes dirty buffers out to disk. With gfs2_ail1_start_one() now calling ->writepages(), we end up creating filesystem transactions while we are in the course of a log flush, which immediately deadlocks on the sdp->sd_log_flush_lock semaphore. Work around that by going back to how things used to work before commit b2b0a5e97855 for now; figuring out a superior solution will take time we don't have available right now. However ... Since the removal of generic_writepages() is imminent, open-code it here. We're already inside a blk_start_plug() ... blk_finish_plug() section here, so skip that part of the original generic_writepages(). This reverts commit b2b0a5e978552e348f85ad9c7568b630a5ede659. +/-1200uT is a MAGN sensor full measurement range. Magnetometer scale is the magnetic sensitivity parameter. It is referenced as 0.1uT according to datasheet and magnetometer channel unit is Gauss in sysfs-bus-iio documentation. Gauss and uTesla unit conversion relationship as follows: 0.1uT = 0.001Gs. Set magnetometer scale and available magnetometer scale as fixed 0.001Gs.
