2013-01-07parisc: improve ptrace support for gdb single-stepJohn David Anglin
Various GCC tests use gdb to simulate a multithreaded application. Many of these tests have been failing on parisc linux. GCC does this by using gdb to single-step the application, then gdb is used to call other test specific code. Where this fails is when the application is stepped into the delay slot of a taken branch. This sets the PSW B bit. When the test specific code is executed, this usually clears the PSW B bit. Currently, gdb is not allowed to set the B bit. So, the code falls through what should be a taken branch. The attached patch adds the PSW B bit to the set of bits that gdb is allowed to set. In order to set the B bit, the trace system call must return using an interrupt restore. The patch also modifies this code to use the saved IAOQ values when they are saved by a ptrace syscall or interruption. 2013-01-07parisc: avoid undefined shift in cnv_float.hJohn David Anglin
The attached change fixes a float conversion problem found running the GCC testsuite with GCC configured with --with-arch=2.0. The actual problem occurs for an exponent value of 63. This is the maximum exponent value that can be passed. This causes a left shift by 32 in the else hunk of the macro. This causes undefined behavior and the wrong value is returned for dresultB. The fix is the check "exponent <= 62". If the exponent is 63, dresultB is set to 0. The patch also optimizes the operation a bit by copying "Sall(sgl_value) << SGL_EXP_LENGTH" to val, so that sgl_value is not modified. 2013-01-07staging: drm/omap: use omapdss low level APIRob Clark
This patch changes the omapdrm KMS to bypass the omapdss "compat" layer and use the core omapdss API directly. This solves some layering issues that would cause unpin confusion vs GO bit status, because we would not know whether a particular pageflip or overlay update has hit the screen or not. Now instead we explicitly manage the GO bits in dispc and handle the vblank/framedone interrupts ourself so that we always know which buffers are being scanned out at any given time, and so on. 2013-01-07b43: Fix firmware loading when driver is built into the kernelLarry Finger
Recent versions of udev cause synchronous firmware loading from the probe routine to fail because the request to user space would time out. The original fix for b43 (commit 6b6fa58) moved the firmware load from the probe routine to a work queue, but it still used synchronous firmware loading. This method is OK when b43 is built as a module; however, it fails when the driver is compiled into the kernel. This version changes the code to load the initial firmware file using request_firmware_nowait(). A completion event is used to hold the work queue until that file is available. This driver reads several firmware files - the remainder can be read synchronously. On some test systems, the async read fails; however, a following synch read works, thus the async failure falls through to the sync try. Debug port in-use determination must be done before the controller gets reset the first time, i.e. before the call to ehci_setup() as of commit 1a49e2ac9651df7349867a5cf44e2c83de1046af. That commit effectively rendered commit 9fa5780beea1274d498a224822397100022da7d4 useless. While moving that code around, also fix the BAR determination - the respective capability field is a 3- rather than a 2-bit one -, and use PCI_CAP_ID_DBG instead of the literal 0x0a. It's unclear to me whether the debug port functionality is important enough to warrant fixing this in stable kernels too. A minor bug fix on dwc3's debugfs interface which would make us read wrong addresses when dumping all registers. dummy_hcd learned how to enumerate g_multi. s3c-hsotg now understands that we shouldn't kfree() memory allocated with devm_*. Other than that, there are a bunch of other minor fixes on renesas_usbhs, tcm_usb_gadget and amd5536udc. All patches have been pending on mailing for many weeks and shouldn't cause any problems.

2013-01-07asus-laptop: Do not call HWRS on initBen Hutchings
Since commit 8871e99f89b7 ('asus-laptop: HRWS/HWRS typo'), module initialisation is very slow on the Asus UL30A. The HWRS method takes about 12 seconds to run, and subsequent initialisation also seems to be delayed. Since we don't really need the result, don't bother calling it on init. Those who are curious can still get the result through the 'infos' device attribute. Update the comment about HWRS in show_infos(). 2013-01-07staging: Make SystemBase PCI Multiport UART only for x86Steven Rostedt
The sb105x SystemBase PCI UART driver in staging has code specific for x86. This breaks allyesconfig builds for other archs. For now, the quick fix is simply to make this driver depend on x86. When I get time, I'll swap this card out of my main machine and put it into my PowerPC64 box, and get it working there. Then it may become a good samaritan and play nice with other archs. 2013-01-07sctp: fix Kconfig bug in default cookie hmac selectionAlex Elder
Commit 0d0863b02002 ("sctp: Change defaults on cookie hmac selection") added a "choice" to the sctp Kconfig file. It introduced a bug which led to an infinite loop when while running "make oldconfig". The problem is that the wrong symbol was defined as the default value for the choice. Using the correct value gets rid of the infinite loop. Note: if CONFIG_SCTP_COOKIE_HMAC_SHA1=y was present in the input config file, both that and CONFIG_SCTP_COOKIE_HMAC_MD5=y be present in the generated config file. 2013-01-07EDAC: Fix EDAC Kconfig menuBorislav Petkov
After f65aad41772f("MIPS: Cavium: Add EDAC support."), when entering the "Device Drivers" toplevel menu in menuconfig, the suboptions behind EDAC appeared merged with the rest of the device drivers types. This was because the menuconfig option EDAC is querying an EDAC_SUPPORT Kconfig bool which was defined after the menu definition. When pushing EDAC_SUPPORT up, before the menu definition, the variable is defined earlier and the above menuconfig artifact doesn't happen. Drop a useless menuconfig comment while at it. This patch fixes use-after-free and double-free bugs in edac_mc_sysfs_exit(). mci_pdev has single reference and put_device() calls mc_attr_release() which calls kfree(). The following device_del() works with already released memory. An another kfree() in edac_mc_sysfs_exit() releses the same memory again. Great.
