The 4fb71074a570 (perf ui/hist: Consolidate hpp helpers) cset introduced a cast of percent_color_snprintf to a function pointer type with varargs. Change percent_color_snprintf to be variadic and remove the cast. The symptom of this was all percentages being reported as 0.00% in perf report --stdio output on the armhf arch. 2013-11-01ixgbe: Reduce memory consumption with larger page sizesAnton Blanchard
The ixgbe driver allocates pages for its receive rings. It currently uses 512 pages, regardless of page size. During receive handling it adds the unused part of the page back into the rx ring, avoiding the need for a new allocation. On a ppc64 box with 64 threads and 64kB pages, we end up with 512 entries * 64 rx queues * 64kB = 2GB memory used. Even more of a concern is that we use up 2GB of IOMMU space in order to map all this memory. The driver makes a number of decisions based on if PAGE_SIZE is less than 8kB, so use this as the breakpoint and only allocate 128 entries on 8kB or larger page sizes. 2013-11-01iommu/vt-d: Fixed interaction of VFIO_IOMMU_MAP_DMA with IOMMU address limitsJulian Stecklina
The BUG_ON in drivers/iommu/intel-iommu.c:785 can be triggered from userspace via VFIO by calling the VFIO_IOMMU_MAP_DMA ioctl on a vfio device with any address beyond the addressing capabilities of the IOMMU. The problem is that the ioctl code calls iommu_iova_to_phys before it calls iommu_map. iommu_map handles the case that it gets addresses beyond the addressing capabilities of its IOMMU. intel_iommu_iova_to_phys does not. This patch fixes iommu_iova_to_phys to return NULL for addresses beyond what the IOMMU can handle. This in turn causes the ioctl call to fail in iommu_map and (correctly) return EFAULT to the user with a helpful warning message in the kernel log. 2013-11-01ALSA: hda - not choose assigned converters for unused pins of ValleyviewMengdong Lin
For Valleyview display codec, if an unused pin chooses an assgined converter selected by a used pin, playback on the unused pin can also give sound to the output device of the used pin. It's because data flows from the same convertor to the display port of the used pin. This issue is same as Haswell. So this patch avoids using assinged convertors for unused pins. On some codepaths the skb does not have a dst entry when xfrm_decode_session() is called. So check for a valid skb_dst() before dereferencing the device interface index. 2013-10-31dm mpath: fix race condition between multipath_dtr and pg_init_doneShiva Krishna Merla
Whenever multipath_dtr() is happening we must prevent queueing any further path activation work. Implement this by adding a new 'pg_init_disabled' flag to the multipath structure that denotes future path activation work should be skipped if it is set. By disabling pg_init and then re-enabling in flush_multipath_work() we also avoid the potential for pg_init to be initiated while suspending an mpath device. Commit b1adaf65ba03 ("[SCSI] block: add sg buffer copy helper functions") introduces two sg buffer copy helpers, and calls flush_kernel_dcache_page() on pages in SG list after these pages are written to. Unfortunately, the commit may introduce a potential bug: - Before sending some SCSI commands, kmalloc() buffer may be passed to block layper, so flush_kernel_dcache_page() can see a slab page finally - According to cachetlb.txt, flush_kernel_dcache_page() is only called on "a user page", which surely can't be a slab page. - ARCH's implementation of flush_kernel_dcache_page() may use page mapping information to do optimization so page_mapping() will see the slab page, then VM_BUG_ON() is triggered. Aaro Koskinen reported the bug on ARM/kirkwood when DEBUG_VM is enabled, and this patch fixes the bug by adding test of '!PageSlab(miter->page)' before calling flush_kernel_dcache_page(). Racing with deletion could mean a spurious -EBUSY, no problem. Racing with addition is handled just fine as well through the memcg_create_mutex: if the child group is not on the list after the mutex is acquired, it won't be initialized from the parent's attributes until after the unlock. 2013-10-31mm: memcg: use proper memcg in limit bypassJohannes Weiner
Commit 84235de394d9 ("fs: buffer: move allocation failure loop into the allocator") allowed __GFP_NOFAIL allocations to bypass the limit if they fail to reclaim enough memory for the charge. But because the main test case was on a 3.2-based system, the patch missed the fact that on newer kernels the charge function needs to return root_mem_cgroup when bypassing the limit, and not NULL. This will corrupt whatever memory is at NULL + percpu pointer offset. Fix this quickly before problems are reported. 2013-10-31vfs: decrapify dput(), fix cache behavior under normal loadLinus Torvalds
We do not want to dirty the dentry->d_flags cacheline in dput() just to set the DCACHE_REFERENCED flag when it is already set in the common case anyway. This way the first cacheline of the dentry (which contains the RCU lookup information etc) can stay shared among multiple CPU's. This finishes off some of the details of all the scalability patches merged during the merge window. Also don't mark dentry_kill() for inlining, since it's the uncommon path and inlining it just makes the common path slower due to extra function entry/exit overhead. At xfs_iext_add(), if extent(s) are being appended to the last page in the indirection array and the new extent(s) don't fit in the page, the number of extents(erp->er_extcount) in a new allocated entry should be the minimum value between count and XFS_LINEAR_EXTS, instead of count. For now, there is no existing test case can demonstrates a problem with the er_extcount being set incorrectly here, but it obviously like a bug. 2013-10-31sfc: Fix DMA unmapping issue with firmware assisted TSOAlexandre Rames
When using firmware assisted TSO, we use a single DMA mapping for the linear area of a TSO skb. We still have to segment the super-packet and insert a descriptor containing the original headers before each segment of payload, so we can unmap the linear area only after the last segment is completed. The unmapping information for the linear area is therefore associated with the last header descriptor. We calculate the DMA address to unmap from using the map length and the invariant that the end of the DMA mapping matches the end of the data referenced by the last descriptor. 2013-10-31can: c_can: Fix RX message handling, handle lost message before EOBMarkus Pargmann
If we handle end of block messages with higher priority than a lost message, we can run into an endless interrupt loop. This is reproducable with a am335x processor and "cansequence -r" at 1Mbit. As soon as we loose a packet we can't escape from an interrupt loop. This patch fixes the problem by handling lost packets before EOB packets.
