This reverts commit 318df36e57c0ca9f2146660d41ff28e8650af423. This commit caused Steven Rostedt's hackbench runs to run out of memory due to a leak. As noted by Joonsoo Kim, it is buggy in the following scenario: "I guess, you may set 0 to all kmem caches's cpu_partial via sysfs, doesn't it? In this case, memory leak is possible in following case. Code flow of possible leak is follwing case. * in __slab_free() 1. (!new.inuse || !prior) && !was_frozen 2. !kmem_cache_debug && !prior 3. new.frozen = 1 4. after cmpxchg_double_slab, run the (!n) case with new.frozen=1 5. with this patch, put_cpu_partial() doesn't do anything, because this cache's cpu_partial is 0 6. return In step 5, leak occur" And Steven does indeed have cpu_partial set to 0 due to RT testing. Joonsoo is cooking up a patch, but everybody agrees that reverting this for now is the right thing to do. 2013-08-08drm/i915: Pull some watermarks state into a separate structureVille Syrjälä
There is a bunch of global state that needs to be considered when checking watermarks for validity. Move most of that to a new structure intel_wm_config, to avoid having to pass around so many variables. Refactor the code a bit to split the watermark level validity check into a separate function. Also add hack there that allows us to use it even for LP0 watermarks. formerly: "drm/i915: Create VMAs (part 4) - Error capture" Since the active/inactive lists are per VM, we need to modify the error capture code to be aware of this, and also extend it to capture the buffers from all the VMs. For now all the code assumes only 1 VM, but it will become more generic over the next few patches. NOTE: If the number of VMs in a real world system grows significantly we'll have to focus on only capturing the guilty VM, or else it's likely there won't be enough space for error capture. v2: Squashed in the "part 6" which had dependencies on the mm_list change. formerly: "drm/i915: Create VMAs (part 5) - move mm_list" The mm_list is used for the active/inactive LRUs. Since those LRUs are per address space, the link should be per VMx . Because we'll only ever have 1 VMA before this point, it's not incorrect to defer this change until this point in the patch series, and doing it here makes the change much easier to understand. Shamelessly manipulated out of Daniel: "active/inactive stuff is used by eviction when we run out of address space, so needs to be per-vma and per-address space. Bound/unbound otoh is used by the shrinker which only cares about the amount of memory used and not one bit about in which address space this memory is all used in. formerly: "drm/i915: Create VMAs (part 3.5) - map and fenceable tracking" The map_and_fenceable tracking is per object. GTT mapping, and fences only apply to global GTT. As such, object operations which are not performed on the global GTT should not effect mappable or fenceable characteristics. Functionally, this commit could very well be squashed in to a previous patch which updated object operations to take a VM argument. This commit is split out because it's a bit tricky (or at least it was for me). From CEA-861: Data Byte 1, bit A0 indicates whether Active Format Data is present in Data Byte 2 bits R3 through R0. A source device shall set A0=1 when any of the AFD bits are set. ie. if we want to set active_aspect, we need to set the active_info_valid bit to 1 as well. 2013-08-08video/hmdi: Clear the whole incoming buffer, not just the infoframe sizeDamien Lespiau
If the user if this API is providing a bigger buffer than the infoframe size, it could be for a could reason. For instance it could be because it gives the buffer that will be written to the hardware, up to the maximum of an infoframe size. Instead of just zeroing up to the infoframe size, let's zero the whole incoming buffer as those extra bytes are also used to compute the ECC and need to be 0. As alluded to in several patches, and it will be reiterated later... A VMA is an abstraction for a GEM BO bound into an address space. Therefore it stands to reason, that the existing bind, and unbind are the ones which will be the most impacted. This patch implements this, and updates all callers which weren't already updated in the series (because it was too messy). This patch represents the bulk of an earlier, larger patch. I've pulled out a bunch of things by the request of Daniel. The history is preserved for posterity with the email convention of ">" One big change from the original patch aside from a bunch of cropping is I've created an i915_vma_unbind() function. That is because we always have the VMA anyway, and doing an extra lookup is useful. 2013-08-08ALSA: usb-audio: do not trust too-big wMaxPacketSize valuesClemens Ladisch
The driver used to assume that the streaming endpoint's wMaxPacketSize value would be an indication of how much data the endpoint expects or sends, and compute the number of packets per URB using this value. However, the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 declares a value of 1024 bytes, while only about 88 or 44 bytes are be actually used. This discrepancy would result in URBs with far too few packets, which would not work correctly on the EHCI driver. To get correct URBs, use wMaxPacketSize only as an upper limit on the packet size. 2013-08-07arm64: KVM: fix 2-level page tables unmappingMarc Zyngier
When using 64kB pages, we only have two levels of page tables, meaning that PGD, PUD and PMD are fused. In this case, trying to refcount PUDs and PMDs independently is a a complete disaster, as they are the same. We manage to get it right for the allocation (stage2_set_pte uses {pmd,pud}_none), but the unmapping path clears both pud and pmd refcounts, which fails spectacularly with 2-level page tables. The fix is to avoid calling clear_pud_entry when both the pmd and pud pages are empty. For this, and instead of introducing another pud_empty function, consolidate both pte_empty and pmd_empty into page_empty (the code is actually identical) and use that to also test the validity of the pud. The unmap_range function did not properly cover the case when the start address was not aligned to PMD_SIZE or PUD_SIZE and an entire pte table or pmd table was cleared, causing us to leak memory when incrementing the addr. The fix is to always move onto the next page table entry boundary instead of adding the full size of the VA range covered by the corresponding table level entry.
