2018-05-23gpio: Remove VLA from gpiolibLaura Abbott
The new challenge is to remove VLAs from the kernel (see https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/3/7/621) to eventually turn on -Wvla. Using a kmalloc array is the easy way to fix this but kmalloc is still more expensive than stack allocation. Introduce a fast path with a fixed size stack array to cover most chip with gpios below some fixed amount. The slow path dynamically allocates an array to cover those chips with a large number of gpios. 2018-05-23gpio: aspeed: Use a cache of output data registersBenjamin Herrenschmidt
The current driver does a read/modify/write of the output registers when changing a bit in __aspeed_gpio_set(). This is sub-optimal for a couple of reasons: - If any of the neighbouring GPIOs (sharing the shared register) isn't (yet) configured as an output, it will read the current input value, and then apply it to the output latch, which may not be what the user expects. There should be no bug in practice as aspeed_gpio_dir_out() will establish a new value but it's not great either. - The GPIO block in the aspeed chip is clocked rather slowly (typically 25Mhz). That extra MMIO read halves the maximum speed at which we can toggle the GPIO. This provides a significant performance improvement to the GPIO based FSI master. 2018-05-23gpio: pca953x: fix address calculation for pcal6524H. Nikolaus Schaller
The register constants are so far defined in a way that they fit for the pcal9555a when shifted by the number of banks, i.e. are multiplied by 2 in the accessor function. Now, the pcal6524 has 3 banks which means the relative offset is multiplied by 4 for the standard registers. Simply applying the bit shift to the extended registers gives a wrong result, since the base offset is already included in the offset. Therefore, we have to add code to the 24 bit accessor functions that adjusts the register number for these exended registers. 2018-05-23bpf: btf: Remove unused bits from uapi/linux/btf.hMartin KaFai Lau
This patch does the followings: 1. Limit BTF_MAX_TYPES and BTF_MAX_NAME_OFFSET to 64k. We can raise it later. 2. Remove the BTF_TYPE_PARENT and BTF_STR_TBL_ELF_ID. They are currently encoded at the highest bit of a u32. It is because the current use case does not require supporting parent type (i.e type_id referring to a type in another BTF file). It also does not support referring to a string in ELF. The BTF_TYPE_PARENT and BTF_STR_TBL_ELF_ID checks are replaced by BTF_TYPE_ID_CHECK and BTF_STR_OFFSET_CHECK which are defined in btf.c instead of uapi/linux/btf.h. 3. Limit the BTF_INFO_KIND from 5 bits to 4 bits which is enough. There is unused bits headroom if we ever needed it later. 4. The root bit in BTF_INFO is also removed because it is not used in the current use case. 5. Remove BTF_INT_VARARGS since func type is not supported now. The BTF_INT_ENCODING is limited to 4 bits instead of 8 bits. The above can be added back later because the verifier ensures the unused bits are zeros. 2018-05-23bpf: btf: Change how section is supported in btf_headerMartin KaFai Lau
There are currently unused section descriptions in the btf_header. Those sections are here to support future BTF use cases. For example, the func section (func_off) is to support function signature (e.g. the BPF prog function signature). Instead of spelling out all potential sections up-front in the btf_header. This patch makes changes to btf_header such that extending it (e.g. adding a section) is possible later. The unused ones can be removed for now and they can be added back later. This patch: 1. adds a hdr_len to the btf_header. It will allow adding sections (and other info like parent_label and parent_name) later. The check is similar to the existing bpf_attr. If a user passes in a longer hdr_len, the kernel ensures the extra tailing bytes are 0. 2. allows the section order in the BTF object to be different from its sec_off order in btf_header. 3. each sec_off is followed by a sec_len. It must not have gap or overlapping among sections. The string section is ensured to be at the end due to the 4 bytes alignment requirement of the type section. The above changes will allow enough flexibility to add new sections (and other info) to the btf_header later. This patch also removes an unnecessary !err check at the end of btf_parse(). 2018-05-23nl80211: Reject disconnect commands except from conn_ownerAndrew Zaborowski
Reject NL80211_CMD_DISCONNECT, NL80211_CMD_DISASSOCIATE, NL80211_CMD_DEAUTHENTICATE and NL80211_CMD_ASSOCIATE commands from clients other than the connection owner set in the connect, authenticate or associate commands, if it was set. The main point of this check is to prevent chaos when two processes try to use nl80211 at the same time, it's not a security measure. The same thing should possibly be done for JOIN_IBSS/LEAVE_IBSS and START_AP/STOP_AP. 2018-05-23gpio: pca953x: Clear irq trigger type on irq shutdownGrigoryev Denis
The driver stores the result of irq_set_type() in the internal variables irq_trig_raise and irq_trig_fall, which later are used to determine the GPIOs that must be re-configured as input. These variables retain their value between gpiolib's export / unexport, resulting in an incorrect state in some cases. The corresponding bits in the variables irq_trig_raise and irq_trig_fall should be cleared in irq_shutdown(). 2018-05-23gpio: zynq: Setup chip->base based on alias IDMichal Simek
In past Xilinx gpio-zynq driver was setting up gpio chip->base as 0 which was chagned to autodetection when driver was upstreamed. Older systems, which were using this old version, setup SW stack which expects zynq gpio base as 0 and right now there is no way how to set this up. The patch is adding an option to setup chip->base based on aliases which is something what some other drivers are doing too. It means when gpio0 alias is setup then chip->base is 0. When gpio alias is not setup gpiochip_find_base() set it up properly which is current behavior. Could only support PIN_CONFIG_INPUT_DEBOUNCE now as the HW block is too simple to support others. But even wrt. debounce capability, it now could only support very limited period of time to satisfy the real usecase. But still be useful to enable the crippled HW debounce to prevent any spurious glitches from waking up the system if the gpio is conguired as wakeup interrupt source. 2018-05-23ipvs: fix buffer overflow with sync daemon and serviceJulian Anastasov
syzkaller reports for buffer overflow for interface name when starting sync daemons [1] What we do is that we copy user structure into larger stack buffer but later we search NUL past the stack buffer. The same happens for sched_name when adding/editing virtual server. We are restricted by IP_VS_SCHEDNAME_MAXLEN and IP_VS_IFNAME_MAXLEN being used as size in include/uapi/linux/ip_vs.h, so they include the space for NUL. As using strlcpy is wrong for unsafe source, replace it with strscpy and add checks to return EINVAL if source string is not NUL-terminated. The incomplete strlcpy fix comes from 2.6.13. 2018-05-23pinctrl: mvebu: update use "nand" function for "rb" pinChris Packham
The Armada 98dx3236 SoCs don't have a different MPP sel value for nand specific pins so "dev" was technically correct. 2018-05-23mac80211: Support adding duration for prepare_tx() callbackIlan Peer
There are specific cases, such as SAE authentication exchange, that might require long duration to complete. For such cases, add support for indicating to the driver the required duration of the prepare_tx() operation, so the driver would still be able to complete the frame exchange. Currently, indicate the duration only for SAE authentication exchange, as SAE authentication can take up to 2000 msec (as defined in IEEE P802.11-REVmd D1.0 p. 3504). As the patch modified the prepare_tx() callback API, also modify the relevant code in iwlwifi. 2018-05-23x86/speculation: Simplify the CPU bug detection logicDominik Brodowski
Only CPUs which speculate can speculate. Therefore, it seems prudent to test for cpu_no_speculation first and only then determine whether a specific speculating CPU is susceptible to store bypass speculation. This is underlined by all CPUs currently listed in cpu_no_speculation were present in cpu_no_spec_store_bypass as well. 2018-05-23schedutil: Allow cpufreq requests to be made even when kthread kickedJoel Fernandes (Google)
Currently there is a chance of a schedutil cpufreq update request to be dropped if there is a pending update request. This pending request can be delayed if there is a scheduling delay of the irq_work and the wake up of the schedutil governor kthread. A very bad scenario is when a schedutil request was already just made, such as to reduce the CPU frequency, then a newer request to increase CPU frequency (even sched deadline urgent frequency increase requests) can be dropped, even though the rate limits suggest that its Ok to process a request. This is because of the way the work_in_progress flag is used. This patch improves the situation by allowing new requests to happen even though the old one is still being processed. Note that in this approach, if an irq_work was already issued, we just update next_freq and don't bother to queue another request so there's no extra work being done to make this happen. This adds a pair of context save/restore functions to save/restore the state of a set of pinctrl registers. The context is lost during rtc only suspend with ddr in self-refresh on am43xx. Currently the save/restore is being done unconditionally. This will be optimized later with a pdata-quirk function which will allow is to save/restore only when doing the rtc only mode with ddr in self refresh. This allows using bcm47xxpart parser to find partitions on flash described in DT using the "brcm,bcm947xx-cfe-partitions" compatible property. It means this parser doesn't have to be explicitly selected by a flash driver anymore. It can be used e.g. together with a generic m25p80 / spi-nor if device is just properly described. Syscon nodes can be a simple-mfd and the syscon-users then be declared as children of this node. That way the parent-child structure can be better represented for devices that are fully embedded in the syscon.
