2013-02-19xen: Send spinlock IPI to all waitersStefan Bader
There is a loophole between Xen's current implementation of pv-spinlocks and the scheduler. This was triggerable through a testcase until v3.6 changed the TLB flushing code. The problem potentially is still there just not observable in the same way. What could happen was (is): 1. CPU n tries to schedule task x away and goes into a slow wait for the runq lock of CPU n-# (must be one with a lower number). 2. CPU n-#, while processing softirqs, tries to balance domains and goes into a slow wait for its own runq lock (for updating some records). Since this is a spin_lock_irqsave in softirq context, interrupts will be re-enabled for the duration of the poll_irq hypercall used by Xen. 3. Before the runq lock of CPU n-# is unlocked, CPU n-1 receives an interrupt (e.g. endio) and when processing the interrupt, tries to wake up task x. But that is in schedule and still on_cpu, so try_to_wake_up goes into a tight loop. 4. The runq lock of CPU n-# gets unlocked, but the message only gets sent to the first waiter, which is CPU n-# and that is busily stuck. 5. CPU n-# never returns from the nested interruption to take and release the lock because the scheduler uses a busy wait. And CPU n never finishes the task migration because the unlock notification only went to CPU n-#. To avoid this and since the unlocking code has no real sense of which waiter is best suited to grab the lock, just send the IPI to all of them. This causes the waiters to return from the hyper- call (those not interrupted at least) and do active spinlocking. 2013-02-19xen: introduce xen_remap, use it instead of ioremapStefano Stabellini
ioremap can't be used to map ring pages on ARM because it uses device memory caching attributes (MT_DEVICE*). Introduce a Xen specific abstraction to map ring pages, called xen_remap, that is defined as ioremap on x86 (no behavioral changes). On ARM it explicitly calls __arm_ioremap with the right caching attributes: MT_MEMORY. This patch implement real Xen ACPI cpu hotplug driver as module. When loaded, it replaces Xen stub driver. For booting existed cpus, the driver enumerates them. For hotadded cpus, which added at runtime and notify OS via device or container event, the driver is invoked to add them, parsing cpu information, hypercalling to Xen hypervisor to add them, and finally setting up new /sys interface for them. This patch create a file (xen-stub.c) for Xen stub drivers. Xen stub drivers are used to reserve space for Xen drivers, i.e. memory hotplug and cpu hotplug, and to block native drivers loaded, so that real Xen drivers can be modular and loaded on demand. This patch is specific for Xen memory hotplug (other Xen logic can add stub drivers on their own). The xen stub driver will occupied earlier via subsys_initcall (than native memory hotplug driver via module_init and so blocking native). Later real Xen memory hotplug logic will unregister the stub driver and register itself to take effect on demand. The PV and PVH code CPU init code share some functionality. The PVH code ("xen/pvh: Extend vcpu_guest_context, p2m, event, and XenBus") sets some of these up, but not all. To make it easier to read, this patch removes the PV specific out of the generic way. No functional change - just code movement. 2013-02-19iscsi-target: Enforce individual network portal export once per TargetNameNicholas Bellinger
This patch enforces individual network portal export on a once per TargetName basis, thus preventing a network portal from being exported multiple times across multiple TargetPortalGroups in a single TargetName instance. This is done in iscsit_tpg_check_network_portal() by walking tiqn->tiqn_tpg_list and tpg->tpg_gnp_list using iscsit_check_np_match() looking for an existing network portal mapping from iscsit_tpg_add_network_portal() context, but only when no pre-existing tpg_np_parent pointer is present. 2013-02-20drm/i915: Implement pipe CSC based limited range RGB outputVille Syrjälä
HSW no longer has the PIPECONF bit for limited range RGB output. Instead the pipe CSC unit must be used to perform that task. The CSC pre offset are set to 0, since the incoming data is full [0:255] range RGB, the coefficients are programmed to compress the data into [0:219] range, and then we use either the CSC_MODE black screen offset bit, or the CSC post offsets to shift the data to the correct [16:235] range. Also have to change the confiuration of all planes so that the data is sent through the pipe CSC unit. For simplicity send the plane data through the pipe CSC unit always, and in case full range output is requested, the pipe CSC unit is set up with an identity transform to pass the plane data through unchanged. I've been told by some hardware people that the use of the pipe CSC unit shouldn't result in any measurable increase in power consumption numbers. The bit controlling whether PIPE_CONTROL DW/QW write targets the global GTT or PPGTT moved moved from DW 2 bit 2 to DW 1 bit 24 on IVB. I verified on IVB that the fix is in fact effective. Without the fix none of the scratch writes actually landed in the pipe control page. 2013-02-20drm/i915: Preserve the FDI line reversal override bit on CPTDamien Lespiau
The FDI link has supported link reversal to make the PCB layout engineer's life easier for quite a while and we have always presered this bit as we programmed FDI_RX_CTL with a read/modify/write sequence. We're trying to take a bit more control over what the BIOS leaves in various register and with the introduction of DDI, started to program FDI_RX_CTL fully. There's a fused bit to indicate DMI link reversal and FDI defaults to mirroring that configuration. We have a bit to override that behaviour that we need to preserve from the BIOS. 2013-02-20drm/i915: don't clflush gem objects in stolen memoryImre Deak
As explained by Chris Wilson gem objects in stolen memory are always coherent with the GPU so we don't need to ever flush the CPU caches for these. This fixes a breakage - at least with the compact sg patches applied - during the resume/restore gtt mappings path, when we tried to clflush an FB object in stolen memory, but since stolen objects don't have backing pages we passed an invalid page pointer to drm_clflush_page(). If a GPU reset occurs while a page flip has been submitted to the ring, the flip will never complete once the ring has been reset. The GPU reset can be detected by sampling the reset_counter before the flip is submitted, and then while waiting for the flip, the sampled counter is compared with the current reset_counter value. 2013-02-20drm/i915: clean up panel fitter handling in lvdsMika Kuoppala
With the previous patch "drm/i915: disable shared panel fitter for pipe" we now disable the panel fitter at the right spot in the modeset sequence in the crtc functions on all platforms. Hence the disabling in intel_disable_lvds is no longer required and potentially harmful (since the plane is still enabled at this point). Similarly on the enabling side we enable the panel fitter in the lvds callback only once the plane is enabled. Which is too late. Hence move this into a new intel_pre_enable_lvds callback. Finally we can ditch lvds_encoder->pfit_dirty - this was required to work around the crtc helper semantics, but with the new i915 modeset infrastructure we should enable/disable the pfit only when enabling or disabling the entire output pipeline. So separate state tracking for the pfit is no longer required.
