2023-12-22Bluetooth: ISO: Avoid creating child socket if PA sync is terminatingIulia Tanasescu
When a PA sync socket is closed, the associated hcon is also unlinked and cleaned up. If there are no other hcons marked with the HCI_CONN_PA_SYNC flag, HCI_OP_LE_PA_TERM_SYNC is sent to controller. Between the time of the command and the moment PA sync is terminated in controller, residual BIGInfo reports might continue to come. This causes a new PA sync hcon to be added, and a new socket to be notified to user space. This commit fixs this by adding a flag on a Broadcast listening socket to mark when the PA sync child has been closed. This flag is checked when BIGInfo reports are indicated in iso_connect_ind, to avoid recreating a hcon and socket if residual reports arrive before PA sync is terminated. 2023-12-22Bluetooth: ISO: Reassociate a socket with an active BISIulia Tanasescu
For ISO Broadcast, all BISes from a BIG have the same lifespan - they cannot be created or terminated independently from each other. This links together all BIS hcons that are part of the same BIG, so all hcons are kept alive as long as the BIG is active. If multiple BIS sockets are opened for a BIG handle, and only part of them are closed at some point, the associated hcons will be marked as open. If new sockets will later be opened for the same BIG, they will be reassociated with the open BIS hcons. All BIS hcons will be cleaned up and the BIG will be terminated when the last BIS socket is closed from userspace. 2023-12-22tracing/selftests: Add ownership modification tests for eventfsSteven Rostedt (Google)
As there were bugs found with the ownership of eventfs dynamic file creation. Add a test to test it. It will remount tracefs with a different gid and check the ownership of the eventfs directory, as well as the system and event directories. It will also check the event file directories. It then does a chgrp on each of these as well to see if they all get updated as expected. Then it remounts the tracefs file system back to the original group and makes sure that all the updated files and directories were reset back to the original ownership. It does the same for instances that change the ownership of he instance directory. Note, because the uid is not reset by a remount, it is tested for every file by switching it to a new owner and then back again. Having a platform need a mach-* directory should be seen as a negative, it means the platform needs special non-standard handling. ARM64 support does not allow mach-* directories at all. While we may not get to that given all the non-standard architectures we support, we should still try to get as close as we can and reduce the number of mach directories. The mach-nspire/ directory and files, provides just one "feature": having the kernel print the machine name if the DTB does not also contain a "model" string (which they always do). To reduce the number of mach-* directories let's do without that feature and remove this directory. NOTE: The default l2c_aux_mask is now ~0 but these devices never have this type of cache controller so this is safe. 2023-12-22block: skip start/end time stamping for passthrough IOKundan Kumar
commit 41fa722239b4 ("blk-mq: do not include passthrough requests in I/O accounting")' disables I/O accounting for passthrough requests. Since tools like 'iostat' do not show anything useful for passthrough I/O, it's wasteful to do start/end time-stamping. So do away with that. It was reported that when mounting the tracefs file system with a gid other than root, the ownership did not carry down to the eventfs directory due to the dynamic nature of it. A fix was done to solve this, but it had two issues. (a) if the attr passed into update_inode_attr() was NULL, it didn't do anything. But this does not handle the case of: # chgrp tracing instances # mkdir instances/foo If the superblock was used, then the group ownership would be that of what it was when it was mounted, when it should instead be "tracing". Instead, set a flag for the top level eventfs directory ("events") to flag which eventfs_inode belongs to it. Since the "events" directory's dentry and inode are never freed, it does not need to use its attr field to restore its mode and ownership. Use the this eventfs_inode's attr as the default ownership for all the files and directories underneath it. When the events eventfs_inode is created, it sets its ownership to its parent uid and gid. As the events directory is created at boot up before it gets mounted, this will always be uid=0 and gid=0. If it's created via an instance, then it will take the ownership of the instance directory. When the file system is mounted, it will update all the gids if one is specified. This will have a callback to update the events evenfs_inode's default entries. When a file or directory is created under the events directory, it will walk the ei->dentry parents until it finds the evenfs_inode that belongs to the events directory to retrieve the default uid and gid values. IPQ9574 also gains description of its LEDs and WPS busttons. MSM8916 finally gets the DSP-based audio described, and this is enabled for a variety of boards. Acer Iconia Talk S and Loncheer L8910 gains notification LED, battery and charger support is added to Loncheer L8150, and GPU is enabled for Samsung Galaxy Tab A. Similariy DSP-based audio is added on MSM8939, the BAM-DMUX support is enabled as well. The Longcheer L9100 gains RGB notification LED support, and the wireless subsystem is enabled. Missing SPI controllers are described on MSM8953. On MSM8996 the MPM is enabled, to allow using wakeup interrupts. Interconnect providers, MPM and display are added to QCM2290. UFS, remoteprocs and WiFi is enabled for Fairphone FP5. On Fairphone FP3 audio, WiFi and Bluetooth are enabled. On the Robotics RB1, HDMI and the CAN bus controller are added. On Robotics RB2 Bluetooth, the modem remoteproc and WiFi are enabled. Bluetooth is enabled on the Robotics RB5. On SA8775P tsens and thermal is added, as well as the random number generator. Sound and RTC support is added for the Acer Aspire 1. On SC7280 DeviceTree is refactored, in order to allow non-Chrome devices to inherit the base dtsi. Support for UFS, crypto, TrustZone based remoteprocs, the Camera Control Interface (CCI) and random number generator support are added. Additionally a variety of smaller fixes are introduced. A variety of fixes are introduced for SC8180X, in particular missing power-domains and interconnects. On SC8280XP the camera clock controller is added, and a number of smaller fixes are introduced. The display subsystem in SDM670 is described. On SDX75 interconnect providers are added, as is USB3 and the related PHY, which is then enabled on the IDP device. This ARM11 SMP configuration was one of the first SMP configurations the ARM kernel supported, but it has the downside of odd DMA handling, odd cache tagging, and often (as of recent) completely broken cache handling on the ARM RealView PB11MPCore test chips. To boot the platform it was necessary to completely disable the cache. When it comes to the EB 11MPCore it is unclear if this ever worked. These reference designs are now the only ARMv6K SMP platforms. As only reference designs of purely academic interest remain, and since the special-cased DMA and PMU code is hard to maintain and doesn't really work, it is not really worth our time. Delete the ARM11MPCore support along with: - The special DMA quirk CONFIG_DMA_CACHE_RWFO that is only used on ARMv6K SMP, and we are the last ARMV6K system leaving the building and the cache handling is awkward, so good-bye. - The special PMU handling that was only used by ARM11MPCore. The following is left behind: - TIMER_OF_DECLARE(arm_twd_11mp, "arm,arm11mp-twd-timer", ...) in arch/arm/kernel/smp_twd.c, this is still in use by Marvell MMP3 arch/arm/boot/dts/marvell/mmp3.dtsi - IRQCHIP_DECLARE(arm11mp_gic, "arm,arm11mp-gic", ...) in drivers/irqchip/irq-gic.c, this is still in use by Marvell MMP3 arch/arm/boot/dts/marvell/mmp3.dtsi - A compatible for the arm11mpcore SCU, since this was mistakedly used for the Cortex-A9 version of RealView EB. These are unfortunate but will need to be kept around for compatibility. New Marvell-specific compatibles should however probably be added. 2023-12-22mtd: rawnand: Fix core interference with sequential readsMiquel Raynal
A couple of reports pointed at some strange failures happening a bit randomly since the introduction of sequential page reads support. After investigation it turned out the most likely reason for these issues was the fact that sometimes a (longer) read might happen, starting at the same page that was read previously. This is optimized by the raw NAND core, by not sending the READ_PAGE command to the NAND device and just reading out the data in a local cache. When this page is also flagged as being the starting point for a sequential read, it means the page right next will be accessed without the right instructions. The NAND chip will be confused and will not output correct data. In order to avoid such situation from happening anymore, we can however handle this case with a bit of additional logic, to postpone the initialization of the read sequence by one page. The ONFI specification states that devices do not need to support sequential reads across LUN boundaries. In order to prevent such event from happening and possibly failing, let's introduce the concept of "pause" in the sequential read to handle these cases. The first/last pages remain the same but any time we cross a LUN boundary we will end and restart (if relevant) the sequential read operation.
