2020-03-27x86, vmlinux.lds: Add RUNTIME_DISCARD_EXIT to generic DISCARDSH.J. Lu
In the x86 kernel, .exit.text and .exit.data sections are discarded at runtime, not by the linker. Add RUNTIME_DISCARD_EXIT to generic DISCARDS and define it in the x86 kernel linker script to keep them. The sections are added before the DISCARD directive so document here only the situation explicitly as this change doesn't have any effect on the generated kernel. Also, other architectures like ARM64 will use it too so generalize the approach with the RUNTIME_DISCARD_EXIT define. [ bp: Massage and extend commit message. ] Signed-off-by: H.J. 2020-03-27x86/split_lock: Avoid runtime reads of the TEST_CTRL MSRXiaoyao Li
In a context switch from a task that is detecting split locks to one that is not (or vice versa) we need to update the TEST_CTRL MSR. Currently this is done with the common sequence: read the MSR flip the bit write the MSR in order to avoid changing the value of any reserved bits in the MSR. Cache unused and reserved bits of TEST_CTRL MSR with SPLIT_LOCK_DETECT bit cleared during initialization, so we can avoid an expensive RDMSR instruction during context switch. 2020-03-27x86/split_lock: Rework the initialization flow of split lock detectionXiaoyao Li
Current initialization flow of split lock detection has following issues: 1. It assumes the initial value of MSR_TEST_CTRL.SPLIT_LOCK_DETECT to be zero. However, it's possible that BIOS/firmware has set it. 2. X86_FEATURE_SPLIT_LOCK_DETECT flag is unconditionally set even if there is a virtualization flaw that FMS indicates the existence while it's actually not supported. Rework the initialization flow to solve above issues. In detail, explicitly clear and set split_lock_detect bit to verify MSR_TEST_CTRL can be accessed, and rdmsr after wrmsr to ensure bit is cleared/set successfully. X86_FEATURE_SPLIT_LOCK_DETECT flag is set only when the feature does exist and the feature is not disabled with kernel param "split_lock_detect=off" On each processor, explicitly updating the SPLIT_LOCK_DETECT bit based on sld_sate in split_lock_init() since BIOS/firmware may touch it. 2020-03-27s390/gmap: return proper error code on ksm unsharingChristian Borntraeger
If a signal is pending we might return -ENOMEM instead of -EINTR. We should propagate the proper error during KSM unsharing. unmerge_ksm_pages returns -ERESTARTSYS on signal_pending. This gets translated by entry.S to -EINTR. It is important to get this error code so that userspace can retry. To make this clearer we also add -EINTR to the documentation of the PV_ENABLE call, which calls unmerge_ksm_pages. 2020-03-27gpio: tegra186: Add Tegra194 pin ranges for GG.0 and GG.1Thierry Reding
The GG.0 and GG.1 GPIOs serve as CLKREQ and RST pins, respectively, for PCIe controller 5 on Tegra194. When this controller is configured in endpoint mode, these pins need to be used as GPIOs by the PCIe endpoint driver. Typically the mode programming of these pins (GPIO vs. SFIO) is performed by early boot firmware to ensure that the configuration is consistent. However, the GG.0 and GG.1 pins are part of a special power partition that is not enabled during early boot, and hence the early boot firmware cannot program these pins to be GPIOs (they are SFIO by default). Adding them as pin ranges for the pin controller allows the pin controller to be involved when these pins are requested as GPIOs and allows the proper programming to take place. 2020-03-27s390/zcrypt: use kvmalloc instead of kmalloc for 256k allocHarald Freudenberger
Tests showed that it may happen that a 256k kmalloc may fail due to a temporary shortage on 256k slab entries. The find functions for cca and ep11 use a 256k array to fetch the states of all possible crypto cards and their domains in one piece. With the patch now kvmalloc is used to allocate this temporary memory as there is no need to have this memory area physical continuously. 2020-03-27iwlwifi: add trans_cfg for devices with long latencyLuca Coelho
A couple of SoCs, which can be recognized by PCI device IDs 0xA0F0 and 0x43F0, need a longer wait for the xtal to stabilize. To handle this, add a new trans_cfg structure for Qu devices with a larger xtal_latency value and apply them to the devices recognized by these IDs. 2020-03-27iwlwifi: add support for version 2 of SOC_CONFIGURATION_CMDLuca Coelho
This new command is mostly backwards compatible, with the exception that the device_type element was changed into a bitmask. The device type bit remains the same (because we only had 0 and 1 anyway), but when using v1 we can't set any other bits, because that would change the integer. Other than that, the struct remains the same and the driver can set the device_type bit in both cases, but it can only set the low_latency bit if VER_2 is used. 2020-03-27iwlwifi: convert all Qu with Jf devices to the new config tableLuca Coelho
Add new generic iwl_trans structures for these devices and apply the correct cfg depending on the device characteristics. Since we have to match Qu with IWL_CONFIG_ANY, we also need to move the Hr devices to the new table, but for now we keep matching on PCI device and subsystem device IDs. 2020-03-27iwlwifi: move integrated, extra_phy and soc_latency to trans_cfgLuca Coelho
These values are selected based on the PCI device ID, so the decision to use them can be made early. By moving them to the trans_cfg, we avoid duplicating the large cfg structs for small pieces of data (sometimes a single boolean). This will also allow us to make more decisions based on, for instance, the SoC type in used. The trans_cfg concept changes a bit, because previously it was used only to boot the device before reading further characteristics and now it also contains more data that is associated with the device ID.
