2010-05-25ALSA: hda: Fix model quirk for Dell M1730Daniel T Chen
BugLink: https://launchpad.net/bugs/576160 Symptom: Currently (2.6.32.12) the Dell M1730 uses the 3stack model quirk. Unfortunately this means that capture is not functional out- of-the-box despite ensuring that capture settings are unmuted and raised fully. Test case: boot from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS live cd; capture does not work. Resolution: Correct the model quirk for Dell M1730 to rely on the BIOS configuration. This patch also trivially sorts the quirk into the correct section based on the comments. First issue: With the original patch, I've noticed by unmuting the mic (and even having it muted), there is a distorted("Noise") coming from the internal speakers, even when the headphones are plugged in. Second issue: alc885_mbp_4ch_modes The original patch does a good job with the HP pin automute function, but from what I noticed is I would have to manually change the channel form 2 to 4 after plugging the headphones in. And not to mention having odd moments to where I was jamming out with the headphones on, then later realized I had sound blasting out of the speakers as well. My findings revealed that changing alc885_mbp_4ch_modes to alc885_mba21_ch_modes and setting - spec->autocfg.speaker_pins[0] = 0x15; + spec->autocfg.speaker_pins[0] = 0x18; gets the automute function when the headphones plugged in working flawlessly(and the no need to manually change the channel number afterwards). Third issue: alc885_imac91_mixer There probably doesnt need to be anything changed with this (esspecially if your one to like lots of sliders),but my findings revealed that mac osx only has a master on the top right, another switch on itunes, and then a slider for the mic. So the changes I did below try and mimic osx as much as possible (only thing I had an issue with is just having one mute switch on the master, instead of having two(still investigating)). fourth issue: alc882_capture_source I endeded up creating alc889A_imac91_capture_source() only because looking at alc882_capture_source I see that the mic is set to 0x1 while this works, I also noticed that adding 0x1 and 0x01 and testing that 0x1 somehow stops working, and 0x01 works(so I figured 0x01 was more of the alpha of the numbers(still need to figure out where that valuse is)). In any case the microphone does work with the original, and with the below patch, but both still record not as clean(lots of "Noise", which I would like to look into too). 2010-05-25spi: move bitbang txrx utility functions to private headerhartleys
A number of files in drivers/spi fail checkincludes.pl due to the double include of <linux/spi/spi_bitbang.h>. The first include is needed to get the struct spi_bitbang definition and the spi_bitbang_* function prototypes. The second include happens after defining EXPAND_BITBANG_TXRX to get the inlined bitbang_txrx_* utility functions. The <linux/spi/spi_bitbang.h> header is also included by a number of other spi drivers, as well as some arch/ code, in order to use struct spi_bitbang and the associated functions. To fix the double include, and remove any potential confusion about it, move the inlined bitbang_txrx_* functions to a new private header in drivers/spi and also remove the need to define EXPAND_BITBANG_TXRX. 2010-05-25powerpc/mpc5121: move PSC FIFO memory init to platform codeAnatolij Gustschin
Since PSC could also be used in other modes than UART mode we move PSC FIFO memory initialization from serial driver to common platform code. The initialized FIFO memory slices may not overlap, so the most easy way would be to configure them all at once at init time for all PSC devices. This is now done by this patch. 2010-05-25spi/omap2_mcspi: add turbo mode supportRoman Tereshonkov
Turbo mode allows to read data to shift register when rx-buffer is full thus improving the perfomance. This feature is available for RX-only mode. In PIO turbo mode when the penultimate word is available in RX-buffer the controller should be disabled before reading data to prevent the next transaction triggering. The controller itself handles the last word to be correctly loaded to shift-register and then transferred to RX-buffer. The turbo mode is enabled by setting turbo_mode parameter to 1. This parameter is a part of omap2_mcspi_device_config structure which is passed through the spi_device controller_data pointer. QE mode uses Little Endian so words > 8 bits are byte swapped. Workaround this by always enforcing wordsize 8 for words > 8 bits. Unfortunately this will not work for LSB transfers where wordsize is > 8 bits so disable these for now. Also move the different quirks into its own function to keep mpc8xxx_spi_setup_transfer() sane. The low-memory corruption checker triggers during suspend/resume, so we need to reserve the low 64k. Don't be fooled that the BIOS identifies itself as "Dell Inc.", it's still Phoenix BIOS. Bits set in cpu_possible_mask prior to the execution of prefill_possible_map() (i.e. when parsing ACPI or MPS tables) would prevent the SMP alternatives logic from switching to UP mode, plus unnecessary setup of per-CPU data for CPUs that can never come online. Additionally, without CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU disabled CPUs can never come online, and hence setting cpu_possible_mask bits for them is again a simple waste of resources. 2010-05-24x86, apic: ack all pending irqs when crashed/on kexecKerstin Jonsson
When the SMP kernel decides to crash_kexec() the local APICs may have pending interrupts in their vector tables. The setup routine for the local APIC has a deficient mechanism for clearing these interrupts, it only handles interrupts that has already been dispatched to the local core for servicing (the ISR register) safely, it doesn't consider lower prioritized queued interrupts stored in the IRR register. If you have more than one pending interrupt within the same 32 bit word in the LAPIC vector table registers you may find yourself entering the IO APIC setup with pending interrupts left in the LAPIC. This is a situation for wich the IO APIC setup is not prepared. Depending of what/which interrupt vector/vectors are stuck in the APIC tables your system may show various degrees of malfunctioning. That was the reason why the check_timer() failed in our system, the timer interrupts was blocked by pending interrupts from the old kernel when routed trough the IO APIC.
