2023-08-21efi/arm64: Move EFI runtime call setup/teardown helpers out of lineArd Biesheuvel
Only the arch_efi_call_virt() macro that some architectures override needs to be a macro, given that it is variadic and encapsulates calls via function pointers that have different prototypes. The associated setup and teardown code are not special in this regard, and don't need to be instantiated at each call site. So turn them into ordinary C functions and move them out of line. 2023-08-21tracing: Introduce pipe_cpumask to avoid race on trace_pipesZheng Yejian
There is race issue when concurrently splice_read main trace_pipe and per_cpu trace_pipes which will result in data read out being different from what actually writen. As suggested by Steven: > I believe we should add a ref count to trace_pipe and the per_cpu > trace_pipes, where if they are opened, nothing else can read it. > > Opening trace_pipe locks all per_cpu ref counts, if any of them are > open, then the trace_pipe open will fail (and releases any ref counts > it had taken). > > Opening a per_cpu trace_pipe will up the ref count for just that > CPU buffer. This will allow multiple tasks to read different per_cpu > trace_pipe files, but will prevent the main trace_pipe file from > being opened. But because we only need to know whether per_cpu trace_pipe is open or not, using a cpumask instead of using ref count may be easier. After this patch, users will find that: - Main trace_pipe can be opened by only one user, and if it is opened, all per_cpu trace_pipes cannot be opened; - Per_cpu trace_pipes can be opened by multiple users, but each per_cpu trace_pipe can only be opened by one user. And if one of them is opened, main trace_pipe cannot be opened. 2023-08-21hwmon: pmbus: Fix -EIO seen on pli1209Patrick Rudolph
After doing performance optimizations the pli1209 driver failed to probe with a probabilty of 2%. It wasn't able to read the PMBUS_OPERATION register due to an -EIO error. An investigation showed that the PLI1209 takes 230 usec to execute the CLEAR_FAULTS command. During that time it's busy and NACKs all requests on the SMBUS interface. It also NACKs reads on PMBUS_STATUS_BYTE making it impossible to poll the BUSY flag. Add a custom write_data function to just wait for not BUSY unconditionally after sending a CLEAR_FAULTS command. TEST: Verified using an I2C bus analyser that no more NACKs are seen after sending a CLEAR_FAULTS command. 2023-08-21hwmon: pmbus: Drop unnecessary clear fault pagePatrick Rudolph
The pmbus_check_byte_register function already calls clear fault page, so there's no need to do it again in pmbus_identify_common. TEST: Verified using an I2C bus analyser to confirm that only one clear fault page is being send instead of two in a row.
