2021-03-24ASoC: intel: atom: Stop advertising non working S24LE supportHans de Goede
The SST firmware's media and deep-buffer inputs are hardcoded to S16LE, the corresponding DAIs don't have a hw_params callback and their prepare callback also does not take the format into account. So far the advertising of non working S24LE support has not caused issues because pulseaudio defaults to S16LE, but changing pulse-audio's config to use S24LE will result in broken sound. Pipewire is replacing pulse now and pipewire prefers S24LE over S16LE when available, causing the problem of the broken S24LE support to come to the surface now. 2021-03-24drm/i915: Distinction of memory regionsZbigniew Kempczyński
In preparation for Xe HP multi-tile architecture with multiple memory regions, we need to be able differentiate multiple instances of device local-memory. Note that the region name is just to give it a human friendly identifier, instead of using class/instance which also uniquely identifies the region. We have not seen an occurrence of the false restart state recenty, and if we did see such an event from inside engine-reset, it would deadlock on trying to suspend the tasklet to read the register state (from inside the tasklet). Instead, we inspect the context state before submission which will alert us to any issues prior to execution on HW. The largest possible order is (63-PAGE_SHIFT), given that our min chunk size is PAGE_SIZE. 2021-03-24drm/i915/gt: Move the defer_request waiter active assertionChris Wilson
In defer_request() we start with the request we just unsubmitted (that should be the active request on the gpu) and then defer all of its waiters. No waiter should be ahead of the active request, so none should be marked as active. That assert failed. Of particular note this machine was undergoing persistent GPU resets due to underlying HW issues, so that may be a clue. A request is also marked as active when it is retired, regardless of current queue status, and so this assertion failure may be a result of the queue being completed by the reset and then subsequently processed by the tasklet. We can filter out retired requests here by doing the assertion check after the is-ready check (active is a subset of being ready). Update logic to program AUD_FREQ_CNTRL register based on new guidance. Earlier this register was configured by BIOS and driver discovered the value at init. This is no longer recommended and instead driver should set the values based on the hardware revision. Add the recommended values for all supported hardware. This change applies for all GEN12+ hardware. For TGL, some special case handling is needed to not break existing systems. Extend the debug print to also include values of the register as written by BIOS. This can help debug rare cases where BIOS has configured the link settings to incorrect values. Christoph reported that we'll likely trigger the WARN_ON_ONCE() checking that we're not submitting a bvec with REQ_OP_ZONE_APPEND in bio_iov_iter_get_pages() some time ago using zoned btrfs, but I couldn't reproduce it back then. Now Naohiro was able to trigger the bug as well with xfstests generic/095 on a zoned btrfs. There is nothing that prevents bvec submissions via REQ_OP_ZONE_APPEND if the hardware's zone append limit is met. 2021-03-24KVM: arm64: Fix CPU interface MMIO compatibility detectionMarc Zyngier
In order to detect whether a GICv3 CPU interface is MMIO capable, we switch ICC_SRE_EL1.SRE to 0 and check whether it sticks. However, this is only possible if *ALL* of the HCR_EL2 interrupt overrides are set, and the CPU is perfectly allowed to ignore the write to ICC_SRE_EL1 otherwise. This leads KVM to pretend that a whole bunch of ARMv8.0 CPUs aren't MMIO-capable, and breaks VMs that should work correctly otherwise. Fix this by setting IMO/FMO/IMO before touching ICC_SRE_EL1, and clear them afterwards. This allows us to reliably detect the CPU interface capabilities. Disable guest access to the Trace Filter control registers. We do not advertise the Trace filter feature to the guest (ID_AA64DFR0_EL1: TRACE_FILT is cleared) already, but the guest can still access the TRFCR_EL1 unless we trap it. This will also make sure that the guest cannot fiddle with the filtering controls set by a nvhe host.
