2012-09-22ASoC: omap-pcm, omap-dmic: Change the use of omap_pcm_dma_data->data_typePeter Ujfalusi
Instead of the OMAP DMA data type definition the data_type will be used to specify the number of bits the DMA word should be configured or 0 in case when based on the stream's format the omap-pcm can decide the needed DMA word size. This feature is needed for the omap-hdmi where the sDMA need to be configured for 32bit word type regardless of the audio format used. 2012-09-22ASoC: omap-pcm: Prepare to configure the DMA data_type based on stream ↵Peter Ujfalusi
properties Based on the format of the stream the omap-pcm can decide alone what data type should be used with by the sDMA. Keep the possibility for OMAP dai drivers to tell omap-pcm if they want to use different data type. This is needed for the omap-hdmi for example which needs 32bit data type even if the stream format is S16_LE. The check if (dma_data->data_type) is safe at the moment since omap-pcm does not support 8bit samples (OMAP_DMA_DATA_TYPE_S8 == 0x00). The next step is to redefine the meaning of dma_data->data_type to unblock this limitation. When requested (DMA_PREP_INTERRUPT is cleared in flags) disable all DMA interrupts for the channel. In this mode user space does not expect periodic reports from kernel about the progress of the audio stream. PulseAudio for example support this type of mode. 2012-09-22gpio: introduce gpio-mvebu driver for Marvell SoCsThomas Petazzoni
This driver aims at replacing the arch/arm/plat-orion/gpio.c driver, and is designed to be compatible with all Marvell EBU SoCs: Orion, Kirkwood, Dove, Armada 370/XP and Discovery. It has been successfully tested on Dove and Armada XP at the moment. Compared to the plat-orion driver, this new driver has the following added benefits: *) Support for Armada 370 and Armada XP *) It is integrated with the mvebu pinctrl driver so that GPIO pins are properly muxed, and the GPIO driver knows which GPIO pins are output-only or input-only. *) Properly placed in drivers/gpio *) More extensible mechanism to support platform differences. The plat-orion driver uses a simple mask-offset DT property, which works fine for Discovery MV78200 but not for Armada XP. The new driver uses different compatible strings to identify the different variants of the GPIO controllers. 2012-09-22arm: mvebu: split Kconfig options for Armada 370 and XPThomas Petazzoni
Until now, all the code for Armada 370 and XP was common, so we had a single Kconfig option to support all boards using both SoCs. With the addition of pinctrl drivers, this situation has changed: those two SoCs are radically different in terms of pinctrl, so they have two separate drivers. Since pinctrl drivers are typically select-ed from the SoC Kconfig option, it makes sense to split the 370/XP option into two separate options: one for Armada 370 and another for Armada XP. We keep an hidden option selected by both ARMADA_370 and ARMADA_XP in order to easily compile common code. A followup patch actually makes use of this split to select the appropriate pinctrl drivers. 2012-09-22ARM: mvebu: Add pinctrl support to Armada XP SoCsThomas Petazzoni
This commits adds the necessary device tree information to define the compatible property for the pinctrl driver instance of Armada XP SoCs. Until now, the device tree representation considered the Armada XP as a single SoC. But in fact, there are three different SoCs in the Armada XP families, with different number of CPU cores, different number of Ethernet interfaces... and different number of muxable pins or functions. We therefore introduce three armada-xp-mv78xx0.dtsi for the three SoCs of the Armada XP family. The current armada-xp-db.dts evaluation board uses the MV78460 variant of the SoC. Add support for the STE modem shared memory driver. This driver hooks into the remoteproc framework in order to manage configuration and the virtio devices. This driver adds custom firmware handlers, because STE modem uses a custom firmware layout. 2012-09-22igb: Use dma_unmap_addr and dma_unmap_len definesAlexander Duyck
This change is meant to improve performance on systems that do not require the DMA unmap calls. On those systems we do not need to make use of the unmap address for Tx or the unmap length so we can drop both thereby reducing the size of the Tx buffer info structure. In addition I have changed the logic to check for unmap length instead of unmap address when checking to see if a buffer needs to be unmapped from DMA use. The reasons for this change is that on some platforms it is possible to receive a valid DMA address of 0 from an IOMMU. 2012-09-22igb: Simplify how we populate the RSS keyAlexander Duyck
Instead of storing the RSS key as a character array we can simplify the configuration by making it a u32 array. This allows us to just write one value per register without any unnecessary operations to construct the value. This change will produce the same exact key, the only difference is that I translated the u8 array to a u32 array which will be correctly ordered on writes to hardware by the cpu_to_le32 operations that are built into the writel calls. 2012-09-22igb: Change how we populate the RSS indirection tableAlexander Duyck
This patch cleans up our RSS indirection table configuration so that we generate the same table regardless of CPU endianness. In addition it changes the table setup so that instead of doing a modulo based setup it is instead a divisor based setup. The advantage to this is that we should be able to take the Rx hash and compute the Rx queue with very little CPU overhead if needed. 2012-09-22staging:iio:dummy: Fix potential NULL pointer dereferenceLars-Peter Clausen
If the config contains CONFIG_IIO_BUFFER=y and CONFIG_IIO_SIMPLE_DUMMY_BUFFER=n iio_simple_dummy_configure_buffer() is stubbed out and iio_buffer_register() is not. As a result we try to register a buffer which has not been configured. This will causes a NULL pointer deref in iio_buffer_register. To solve this issue move the iio_buffer_register() call to iio_simple_dummy_configure_buffer(), so it will only be called if iio_simple_dummy_configure_buffer() has been called. Driver to allow use of the ADC drivers supported by the IIO subsystem for battery status monitoring. Connecting this driver to the relevant IIO device requires registration of the appropriate iio_map structure array by the IIO device driver (usually from platform data). If specified the driver will also make use of a gpio to provide interrupt driven notification that the battery is fully charged. 2012-09-22iio: adc: add new lp8788 adc driverKim, Milo
TI LP8788 PMU provides regulators, battery charger, ADC, RTC, backlight driver and current sinks. This patch enables the LP8788 ADC functions. The LP8788 ADC has several ADC input selection and supports 12bit resolution. Internal operation of getting ADC is access to registers of LP8788. The LP8788 ADC uses exported functions for accessing these registers. (exported by LP8788 MFD device driver) This driver supports IIO_CHAN_INFO_RAW and SCALE. So the IIO consumer can calculate the value with raw and scale. The unit of scale is micro. (ADC Input Selection) Voltage: battery voltage (MAX 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0V) charger input voltage four general ADC inputs coin cell voltage Current: battery charging current Temperature: IC temperature (The IIO map for the IIO consumer) The ADC input is configurable in the platform side. Even though this platform data is not defined, the default IIO map is created for supporting the power supply driver. The battery voltage and temperature are used inside this driver. (History) Patch v6. (a) Fix scale value for each ADC input selection Voltage and current type are mili unit and temperature is degree. To calculate the IC temperature, temp = raw * scaleint + (raw * scalepart)/ 1000000, scaleint is always 0. = raw * 0.061050, raw: 0 ~ 4095 Then range of IC temperature(ADC result) is 0 ~ 250'C (b) Reorganization of the IIO channel Spec Remove address, scan_type and scan_index and rollback the datasheet name. The reason why 'address' field is unnecessary is no relation with each channel. Moreover, to get the raw ADC value, the address info is not only one register but also several registers. Therefore specific function(lp8788_get_adc_result) is called rather than using one 'address' field. (c) Fix coding style Remove duplicated checking routine while unregistering the IIO map.
