2023-03-22xdp: bpf_xdp_metadata use EOPNOTSUPP for no driver supportJesper Dangaard Brouer
When driver doesn't implement a bpf_xdp_metadata kfunc the fallback implementation returns EOPNOTSUPP, which indicate device driver doesn't implement this kfunc. Currently many drivers also return EOPNOTSUPP when the hint isn't available, which is ambiguous from an API point of view. Instead change drivers to return ENODATA in these cases. There can be natural cases why a driver doesn't provide any hardware info for a specific hint, even on a frame to frame basis (e.g. PTP). Lets keep these cases as separate return codes. When describing the return values, adjust the function kernel-doc layout to get proper rendering for the return values. 2023-03-22hvc/xen: prevent concurrent accesses to the shared ringRoger Pau Monne
The hvc machinery registers both a console and a tty device based on the hv ops provided by the specific implementation. Those two interfaces however have different locks, and there's no single locks that's shared between the tty and the console implementations, hence the driver needs to protect itself against concurrent accesses. Otherwise concurrent calls using the split interfaces are likely to corrupt the ring indexes, leaving the console unusable. Introduce a lock to xencons_info to serialize accesses to the shared ring. This is only required when using the shared memory console, concurrent accesses to the hypercall based console implementation are not an issue. Note the conditional logic in domU_read_console() is slightly modified so the notify_daemon() call can be done outside of the locked region: it's an hypercall and there's no need for it to be done with the lock held. 2023-03-22mtd: rawnand: nandsim: Artificially prevent sequential page readsMiquel Raynal
The continuous read support added recently makes nandsim unhappy. Indeed, all the supported commands should be re-encoded into internal commands, so of course there is currently no support for the commands and patterns needed for continuous reads to work. I tried to add support for them but nandsim (which is more a tool to develop/debug upper layers rather than the raw NAND core) suffers from a big limitation: it's internal parser needs to know what exact operation is happening when the address cycles are performed. The research is then sequential from the start up to the address cycles, but does not check what's coming next even though the information is available. This is a limitation which is related to the old API used by the core which kind of forced the controllers to guess what operation was being performed rather early. Today the core uses a more transparent API called ->exec_op() which no longer requires controller drivers to do any more guessing, but despite being updated to ->exec_op(), nandsim is still a bit constrained on this regard and thus cannot handle sequential page reads because the start sequence beginning is identical to a regular page read. When compound pages are enabled, although the mm layer still returns an array of page pointers, a subset (or all) of them may have the same page head since a max 180kb skb can span 2 hugepages if it is on the boundary, be a mix of pages and 1 hugepage, or fit completely in a hugepage. Instead of referencing page head on all page pointers, use page length arithmetic to only call page head when referencing a known different page head to avoid touching a cold cacheline. 2023-03-22thermal: core: Introduce thermal_cooling_device_update()Rafael J. Wysocki
Introduce a core thermal API function, thermal_cooling_device_update(), for updating the max_state value for a cooling device and rearranging its statistics in sysfs after a possible change of its ->get_max_state() callback return value. That callback is now invoked only once, during cooling device registration, to populate the max_state field in the cooling device object, so if its return value changes, it needs to be invoked again and the new return value needs to be stored as max_state. Moreover, the statistics presented in sysfs need to be rearranged in general, because there may not be enough room in them to store data for all of the possible states (in the case when max_state grows). The new function takes care of that (and some other minor things related to it), but some extra locking and lockdep annotations are added in several places too to protect against crashes in the cases when the statistics are not present or when a stale max_state value might be used by sysfs attributes. The cpufreq policy notifier in the ACPI processor driver may as well be registered before the driver itself, which causes acpi_processor_cpufreq_init to be true (unless the notifier registration fails, which is unlikely at that point) when the ACPI CPU thermal cooling devices are registered, so the processor_get_max_state() result does not change while acpi_processor_driver_init() is running. Change the ordering in acpi_processor_driver_init() accordingly to prevent the max_state value from remaining 0 permanently for all ACPI CPU cooling devices due to setting acpi_processor_cpufreq_init too late. Drivers must call ieee80211_beacon_free_ema_list() to free the memory. No change in the prototype for the existing API, ieee80211_beacon_get_template(), which should be used for non-EMA AP. - ieee80211_beacon_get_template_ema_index() - Generate a beacon which includes the multiple BSSID element at the given index. Drivers can use this function in a loop until NULL is returned which indicates end of available MBSSID elements. - ieee80211_beacon_free_ema_list() - free the memory allocated for the list of EMA beacon templates. Modify existing functions ieee80211_beacon_get_ap(), ieee80211_get_mbssid_beacon_len() and ieee80211_beacon_add_mbssid() to accept a new parameter for EMA index. 2023-03-22wifi: mac80211: mesh fast xmit supportFelix Fietkau
Previously, fast xmit only worked on interface types where initially a sta lookup is performed, and a cached header can be attached to the sta, requiring only some fields to be updated at runtime. This technique is not directly applicable for a mesh device type due to the dynamic nature of the topology and protocol. There are more addresses that need to be filled, and there is an extra header with a dynamic length based on the addressing mode. Change the code to cache entries contain a copy of the mesh subframe header + bridge tunnel header, as well as an embedded struct ieee80211_fast_tx, which contains the information for building the 802.11 header. Add a mesh specific early fast xmit call, which looks up a cached entry and adds only the mesh subframe header, before passing it over to the generic fast xmit code. 2023-03-22wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: Don't send MAC CTXT cmd after deauthorizationMiri Korenblit
We used to send a MAC CTXT cmd to ask the FW to not pass MCAST frames if we're associated but not authorized, because we don't have the keys in that stage, and after authorization - we sent the cmd again to ask the FW to pass MCAST, as we have the keys now. The patch linked below was changing this strategy to always allow MCAST frames, and if we're not authorized - the driver will drop them. But we're still sending the MAC CTXT cmd after deaouthorization even though we don't tell the FW to not pass MCAST frames anymore. Basically we don't tell the FW anything new with this cmd. Fix this by not sending MAC CTXT command after deauthorization. For authorization we're sending the cmd to configure other changes too, so keep it. iwl_mvm_get_sync_time() reads the gp2 from the device and then reads the system clock. Since the two reads are not done atomically, unexpected delays may happen between the two reads (e.g. context switch) which make it inaccurate. In order to improve the accuracy of the cross timestamp, call iwl_mvm_get_sync_time() multiple times in a loop and take the result in which the difference between the two clock is the smallest.
