In _scsih_sas_host_add, the number of HBA phys are determined and then later used to allocate an array of struct _sas_phy's. If the routine sets ioc->sas_hba.num_phys, but then fails to allocate the ioc->sas_hba.phy array (by kcalloc error or other intermediate error/exit path), ioc->sas_hba is left in a dangerous state: all readers of ioc->sas_hba.phy[] do so by indexing it from 0..ioc->sas_hba.num_phys without checking that the space was ever allocated. Modify _scsih_sas_host_add to set ioc->sas_hba.num_phys only after successfully allocating ioc->sas_hba.phy[]. 2016-07-12nvme: Limit command retriesKeith Busch
Many controller implementations will return errors to commands that will not succeed, but without the DNR bit set. The driver previously retried these commands an unlimited number of times until the command timeout has exceeded, which takes an unnecessarilly long period of time. This patch limits the number of retries a command can have, defaulting to 5, but is user tunable at load or runtime. The struct request's 'retries' field is used to track the number of retries attempted. This is in contrast with scsi's use of this field, which indicates how many retries are allowed. 2016-07-12clk: imx7d: do not set parent of ethernet time/ref clocksStefan Agner
All device trees currently in mainline specify the time clock parent using the assigned-clocks/assigned-clock-parents method, there is no need to statically assign the parent in the core clock driver. Also all current boards provide an Ethernet reference clock for the PHY externally, hence configuring the internal PHY reference clock. Furthermore, and the actual driver of this patch, specify ethernet related parents at that early point in boot leads to a warning: bad: scheduling from the idle thread! The reason for the warning is that setting the parent enables the ENET PLL since we are using CLK_OPS_PARENT_ENABLE. Enabling the ENET PLL can cause clk_pllv3_wait_lock to sleep. See also: commit fc8726a2c021 ("clk: core: support clocks which requires parents enable (part 2)"). Note that setting the ENET AXI root clock parent also requires ENET PLL to be enabled. However, U-Boot typically leaves the ENET PLL on, hence when the framework sets the parent of the first clock, it does not need to wait for the PLL to come up. But because there is currently no user of that clock, the PLL gets disabled after setting the parent. Therefore, subsequent reparenting calls of any clock which somehow rely on the ENET PLL, need to reenable the ENET PLL which leads to a sleep. Removing those subsequent reparenting calls works around this issue. Also remove comments. The code is really verbose enough. By converting the driver to regmap, we can use regmap to cache non-volatile registers. Stop caching the temperature register; while potentially reading it more often can result in reading it more often than necessary, this is offset by the gain due to not re-reading the limit registers. A positive side effect of this change is that limit registers can now be read and updated before the first temperature conversion is complete. So far the chip was forced into polarity 0, even if it was preconfigured differently. Do not touch the polarity when configuring the chip. Also, the configuration register was read beack to check if the configuration 'sticks'. Ultimately, that is similar to checking if the chip is a tmp102 in the first place. Checking if a write into the configuration register was successful is really not the way to do it, and quite risky if the chip is not a tmp102, so drop that check. If the chip was in shutdown mode when the driver was loaded, the first conversion is ready no more than 35 milli-seconds after the chip was taken out of shutdown. The driver delay was so far set to 333 ms (HZ / 3), which is much higher than the maximum time needed by the chip. Reduce the time to 35 milli-seconds. Introduce a 'valid' flag to ensure that sensor data is actually read even if requested less than 333 ms after the driver was loaded. 2016-07-12cifs: Check for existing directory when opening file with O_CREATSachin Prabhu
When opening a file with O_CREAT flag, check to see if the file opened is an existing directory. This prevents the directory from being opened which subsequently causes a crash when the close function for directories cifs_closedir() is called which frees up the file->private_data memory while the file is still listed on the open file list for the tcon. 2016-07-12libata-scsi: avoid repeated calculation of number of TRIM rangesTom Yan
Currently libata statically allows only 1-block (512-byte) payload for each TRIM command. Each payload can carry 64 TRIM ranges since each range requires 8 bytes. It is silly to keep doing the calculation (512 / 8) in different places. Hence, define the new ATA_MAX_TRIM_RNUM for the result. 2016-07-12libata-scsi: reject WRITE SAME (16) with n_block that exceeds limitTom Yan
Currently if a WRITE SAME (16) command is issued to the SATL with "number of blocks" that is larger than the "Maximum write same length" (which is the maximum number of blocks per TRIM command allowed in libata, currently 65535 * 512 / 8 blocks), the SATL will accept the command and translate it to a TRIM command with the upper limit. However, according to SBC (as of sbc4r11.pdf), the "device server" should terminate the command with "Invalid field in CDB" in that case. Add a 'CPU' special field to allow the filter in trace-cmd report to filter on the task's CPU. By adding a special field 'CPU' (all caps) the user can now filter out tasks based on which CPU they are on.
