2017-06-14ALSA: pcm: remove SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL1_GSTATE internal commandTakashi Sakamoto
SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL1_GSTATE was firstly introduced in v0.9.0, however never be used and the purpose is missing. This commit removes the long-abandoned command, bye. Signed-off-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2017-06-14ALSA: pcm: remove SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL1_INFO internal commandTakashi Sakamoto
Drivers can implement 'struct snd_pcm_ops.ioctl' to handle some requests from ALSA PCM core. These requests are internal purpose in kernel land. Usually common set of operations are used for it. SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL1_INFO is one of the requests. According to code comment, it has been obsoleted in the old days. We can see old releases in ftp.alsa-project.org. The command was firstly introduced in v0.5.0 release as SND_PCM_IOCTL1_INFO, to allow drivers to fill data of 'struct snd_pcm_channel_info' type. In v0.9.0 release, this was obsoleted by the other commands for ioctl(2) such as SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_CHANNEL_INFO. This commit removes the long-abandoned command, bye. 2017-06-14Staging: rtl8723bs: fix an error code in isFileReadable()Dan Carpenter
The caller only cares about zero vs non-zero so this code actually works fine but we should be returning a negative error code instead of a valid pointer casted to int. 2017-06-14xfrm: NULL dereference on allocation failureDan Carpenter
The default error code in pfkey_msg2xfrm_state() is -ENOBUFS. We added a new call to security_xfrm_state_alloc() which sets "err" to zero so there several places where we can return ERR_PTR(0) if kmalloc() fails. The caller is expecting error pointers so it leads to a NULL dereference. Fixes: df71837d5024 ("[LSM-IPSec]: Security association restriction.") The sgtl5000 features an automatic volume control block (AVC), which reduces loud signals and amplifies low level signals for easier listening. This patch adds support for this AVC block to the driver. Apart from the "AVC Switch" control which enables the block following controls for the configuration of AVC are added: + AVC Threshold Volume: threshold where audio is compressed when the measured level is above or expanded when below + AVC Max Gain Volume: maximum gain which can be applied when the measured audio level is below threshold + AVC Hard Limiter Switch: when enabled the signal is limited to the programmed threshold. + AVC Integrator Response: response time of the integrator The AVC block is enabled and configured using the DAP_AVC_CTRL and DAP_AVC_THRESHOLD registers. 2017-06-14wireless: wext: remove ndo_do_ioctl fallbackJohannes Berg
There are no longer any drivers (in the tree proper, I didn't check all the staging drivers) that take WEXT ioctls through this API, the only remaining ones that even have ndo_do_ioctl are using it only for private ioctls. Therefore, we can remove this call. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2017-06-14ALSA: pcm: Skip ack callback without actual appl_ptr updateTakashi Iwai
We call ack callback whenever appl_ptr gets updated via pcm_lib_apply_appl_ptr(). There are various code paths to call this function. A part of them are for read/write/forward/rewind, where the appl_ptr is always changed and thus the call of ack is mandatory. OTOH, another part of code paths are from the explicit user call, e.g. via SYNC_PTR ioctl. There, we may receive the same appl_ptr value, and in such a case, calling ack is obviously superfluous. This patch adds the check of the given appl_ptr value, and returns immediately if it's no real update. 2017-06-14ALSA: pcm: Preprocess PAUSED or SUSPENDED stream before PREPARETakashi Iwai
Calling PREPARE ioctl to the stream in either PAUSED or SUSPENDED state may confuse some drivers that don't handle the state properly. Instead of fixing each driver, PCM core should take care of the proper state change before actually trying to (re-)prepare the stream. Namely, when the stream is in PAUSED state, it triggers PAUSE_RELEASE, and when in SUSPENDED state, it triggers STOP, before calling prepare callbacks. 2017-06-14ALSA: pcm: Allow dropping stream directly after resumeTakashi Iwai
So far, the PCM core refuses DROP ioctl when the stream in the suspended state. This was basically to avoid the invalid state change *during* the suspend. But since we protect the power change globally in the common PCM ioctl caller side, it's guaranteed that snd_pcm_drop() is called at the right power state. So we can assume that the drop of stream is safe immediately after SUSPENDED state. Reviewed-by: Takashi Sakamoto <o-takashi@sakamocchi.jp> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

2017-06-14powerpc/npu-dma: Remove spurious WARN_ON when a PCI device has no of_nodeAlistair Popple
Commit 4c3b89effc28 ("powerpc/powernv: Add sanity checks to pnv_pci_get_{gpu|npu}_dev") introduced explicit warnings in pnv_pci_get_npu_dev() when a PCIe device has no associated device-tree node. However not all PCIe devices have an of_node and pnv_pci_get_npu_dev() gets indirectly called at least once for every PCIe device in the system. This results in spurious WARN_ON()'s so remove it. The same situation should not exist for pnv_pci_get_gpu_dev() as any NPU based PCIe device requires a device-tree node.
