i915: bail out earlier when shrinker cannot acquire mutex
SHRINK_STOP was added to tell the core shrinker code to bail out and
go to the next shrinker since the i915 shrinker couldn't acquire
required locks. But the SHRINK_STOP return code was added to the
->count_objects callback and not the ->scan_objects callback as it
should have been, resulting in tons of dmesg noise like
shrink_slab: i915_gem_inactive_scan+0x0/0x9c negative objects to delete nr=-xxxxxxxxx

made the executive decision to include just because I can (and I'm
sure you won't object .... right ?).
They fix a couple of annoying and long standing "issues":
- We had separate zImages for when booting via Open Firmware vs.
booting via a flat device-tree, while it's trivial to make one that
deals with both
- We wasted a ton of cycles spinning secondary CPUs uselessly at boot

This patch does two things,
1. enumerate the ideapad device node to platform bus.
2. convert the current driver from ACPI bus to platform bus.
Note, with this patch, the platform device node created by ACPI,
with the name VPC2004:00, is used as the parent device of
the input, backlight, rfkill sysfs class device.
Plus the ideapad_platform private sysfs attributes,
i.e. camera_power and fan_mode, are also moved to the new
platform device node.
The previous platform device node "ideapad" is removed.

The current code use ideapad_handle and ideapad_priv to store
some information for the ideapad device.
But as they are global/static variables, the driver will be broken
if there are more than one ideapad ACPI device node on a platform.
Although this does not happen for now and may not happen in the future,
but still, this is a software bug.
Remove these two variables in this patch.

The libbfd C++ demangler doesn't seem to deal with cloned functions,
like symbol.clone.NUM.
Just strip the dot part before demangling and add it back later.

The ASID is represented as an unsigned int in mm_context_t and we
currently use the mmid assembler macro to access this element of the
struct. This should be accessed with a register of 32-bit width. If
the incorrect register width is used the ASID will be returned in
bits[32:63] of the register when running under big-endian.
Fix a use of the mmid macro in tlb.S to use a 32-bit access.

get_user() is defined as a function macro in arm64, and trace_get_user()
calls it as followed:
get_user(ch, ptr++);
Since the second parameter occurs twice in the definition, 'ptr++' is
unexpectedly evaluated twice and trace_get_user() will generate a bogus
string from user-provided one. As a result, some ftrace sysfs operations,
like "echo FUNCNAME > set_ftrace_filter," hit this case and eventually fail.
This patch fixes the issue both in get_user() and put_user().

Fix perf probe to probe on some symbols which have some optimzation
suffixes, e.g. ".part", ".isra", and ".constprop".
To fix this issue, instead of using the DIE name, perf probe uses the
symbol name found by dwfl_module_addrsym().
This also involves a perf probe --vars operation update which now shows
the symbol name instead of the DIE name.
Without this patch, putting a probe on an inlined function which was
compiled with a suffixed symbol will fail like this:
$ perf probe -v getname_flags

Because the debuginfo knows only the original (non suffix) symbol name,
it uses the original symbol for probe address but the kernel (kallsyms)
knows only suffixed symbol. Then, the kernel rejects that original
symbol.
This patch uses dwfl_module_addrsym() to get the correct (suffixed)
symbol from symtab when a probe point is found.

According to the design, GPE sysfs attributes should accept "disable",
"enable", "clear" and integer numbers as params. Current code checks
"disable", "enable" and "clear" first. If the param doesn't match,
pass it to strtoul() as a string representing an integer number and
assign the return value to the given GPE count. It is missing the check
of whether or not the param really represents an integer number and
strtoul() will return 0 if the string is not a number. This causes any
params except for "enable", "disable", "clear" and a number to make the
GPE count become 0. This patch is to use kstrtoul() to replace strtoul()
and check the return value. If the convertion is successful, use as the
new GPE count. If not, return an error.

Currently, acpi_os_sleep() uses schedule_timeout_interruptible()
which can be interrupted by a signal, and that causes the real sleep
time to be shorter.
According to the ACPI spec:
The Sleep term is used to implement long-term timing requirements.
Execution is delayed for at least the required number of milliseconds.
The sleeping time should be at least the required number msecs, so use
msleep() which guarantees that to implement it.

The check cpu_needs_post_dma_flush() in mips_dma_sync_sg_for_cpu() and
the check !plat_device_is_coherent() in mips_dma_sync_sg_for_device()
can be moved outside the for loop.
As a side effect, this also avoids a GCC bug that caused kernel compile
to fail with the error:

This gcc failure is seen in Code Sourcery toolchains [e.g. gcc version

Current ACPI tables in initrd is limited to 10, that is too small.
64 should be good enough as we have 35 sigs and could have several
SSDT.
Two problems in current code prevent us from increasing limit:
1. The cpio file info array is put in stack, as every element is 32
bytes, could run out of stack if we have that array size to 64.
We can move it out from stack, make it global and put it into the
__initdata section.
2. early_ioremap() only can remap 256k one time. Current code maps
10 tables at a time. If we increased that limit, the whole size
could be more than 256k, so early_ioremap() would fail with that.
We can map chunks one by one during copying, instead of mapping
all of them together.

x86_pkg_temp receives thermal notifications via a callback from a
therm_throt driver, where thermal interrupts are processed.
This callback is pkg_temp_thermal_platform_thermal_notify. Here to
avoid multiple interrupts from cores in a package, we disable the
source and also set a variable to avoid scheduling delayed work function.
This variable is protected via spin_lock_irqsave. On one buggy platform,
we still receiving interrupts even if the source is disabled. This
can cause deadlock/lockdep warning, when interrupt is generated while under
spinlock in work function.
Change spin_lock to spin_lock_irqsave and spin_unlock to
spin_unlock_irqrestore as the data it is trying to protect can also
be modified in a notification call called from interrupt handler.

On hosts with more than 168 GB of memory, a 32-bit guest may attempt
to grant map an MFN that is error cannot lookup in its mapping of the
m2p table. There is an m2p lookup as part of m2p_add_override() and
m2p_remove_override(). The lookup falls off the end of the mapped
portion of the m2p and (because the mapping is at the highest virtual
address) wraps around and the lookup causes a fault on what appears to
be a user space address.
do_page_fault() (thinking it's a fault to a userspace address), tries
to lock mm->mmap_sem. If the gntdev device is used for the grant map,
m2p_add_override() is called from from gnttab_mmap() with mm->mmap_sem
already locked. do_page_fault() then deadlocks.
The deadlock would most commonly occur when a 64-bit guest is started
and xenconsoled attempts to grant map its console ring.
Introduce mfn_to_pfn_no_overrides() which checks the MFN is within the
mapped portion of the m2p table before accessing the table and use
this in m2p_add_override(), m2p_remove_override(), and mfn_to_pfn()
(which already had the correct range check).
All faults caused by accessing the non-existant parts of the m2p are
thus within the kernel address space and exception_fixup() is called
without trying to lock mm->mmap_sem.
This means that for MFNs that are outside the mapped range of the m2p
then mfn_to_pfn() will always look in the m2p overrides. This is
correct because it must be a foreign MFN (and the PFN in the m2p in
this case is only relevant for the other domain).

Commit d7c53c9e enabled ARCH_CPU_PROBE_RELEASE on x86 in order to
serialize CPU online/offline operations. Although it is the config
option to enable CPU hotplug test interfaces, probe & release, it is
also the option to enable cpu_hotplug_driver_lock() as well. Therefore,
this option had to be enabled on x86 with dummy arch_cpu_probe() and
arch_cpu_release().
Since then, lock_device_hotplug() was introduced to serialize CPU
online/offline & hotplug operations. Therefore, this config option
is no longer required for the serialization. This patch disables
this config option on x86 and revert the changes made by commit
d7c53c9e.

lock_device_hotplug[_sysfs]() serializes CPU & Memory online/offline
and hotplug operations. However, this lock is not held in the debug
interfaces below that initiate CPU online/offline operations.
- _debug_hotplug_cpu(), cpu0 hotplug test interface enabled by
CONFIG_DEBUG_HOTPLUG_CPU0.
- cpu_probe_store() and cpu_release_store(), cpu hotplug test interface
enabled by CONFIG_ARCH_CPU_PROBE_RELEASE.
This patch changes the above interfaces to hold lock_device_hotplug().

_debug_hotplug_cpu() is a debug interface that puts cpu0 offline during
boot-up when CONFIG_DEBUG_HOTPLUG_CPU0 is set. After cpu0 is put offline
in this interface, however, /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/online still
shows 1 (online).
This patch fixes _debug_hotplug_cpu() to update dev->offline when CPU
online/offline operation succeeded.

If asynchronous events are enabled for a particular netlink socket,
the notify function is called by the advance function. The notify
function creates and dispatches a km_event if a replay timeout occurred,
or at least replay_maxdiff packets have been received since the last
asynchronous event has been sent. The function is supposed to return if
neither of the two events were detected for a state, or replay_maxdiff
is equal to zero.
Replay_maxdiff is initialized in xfrm_state_construct to the value of
the xfrm.sysctl_aevent_rseqth (2 by default), and updated if for a state
if the netlink attribute XFRMA_REPLAY_THRESH is set.
If, however, replay_maxdiff is set to zero, then all of the three notify
implementations perform a break from the switch statement instead of
checking whether a timeout occurred, and -- if not -- return. As a
result an asynchronous event is generated for every replay update of a
state that has a zero replay_maxdiff value.
This patch modifies the notify functions such that they immediately
return if replay_maxdiff has the value zero, unless a timeout occurred.

Starting secondary CPUs early on from Open Firmware and placing them
in a holding spin loop slows down the boot process significantly under
some hypervisors such as KVM.
This is also unnecessary when RTAS supports querying the CPU state
So let's not do it.

zImage.maple) work if booted via a flat device-tree (ePAPR boot
mode), and thus potentially usable with kexec.

We've been keeping that field in thread_struct for a while, it contains
the "limit" of the current stack pointer and is meant to be used for
detecting stack overflows.
It has a few problems however:
- First, it was never actually *used* on 64-bit. Set and updated but
not actually exploited
- When switching stack to/from irq and softirq stacks, it's update
is racy unless we hard disable interrupts, which is costly. This
is fine on 32-bit as we don't soft-disable there but not on 64-bit.
Thus rather than fixing 2 in order to implement 1 in some hypothetical
future, let's remove the code completely from 64-bit. In order to avoid
a clutter of ifdef's, we remove the updates from C code completely
during interrupt stack switching, and instead maintain it from the
asm helper that is used to do the stack switching in the first place.

Nowadays, irq_exit() calls __do_softirq() pretty much directly
instead of calling do_softirq() which switches to the decicated
softirq stack.
This has lead to observed stack overflows on powerpc since we call
irq_enter() and irq_exit() outside of the scope that switches to
the irq stack.
This fixes it by moving the stack switching up a level, making
irq_enter() and irq_exit() run off the irq stack.

There is a loop in do_mlockall() that lacks a preemption point, which
means that the following can happen on non-preemptible builds of the
kernel. Dave Jones reports:
"My fuzz tester keeps hitting this. Every instance shows the non-irq
stack came in from mlockall. I'm only seeing this on one box, but
that has more ram (8gb) than my other machines, which might explain
it.
