Some BE DAIs can be "dummy" (when the DSP is controlling the DAI) and as such wont have set a minimum number of playback or capture channels required for BE DAI registration (to establish supported stream directions). 2014-01-07NFC: digital: Set current target active on activate_target() callThierry Escande
The curr_protocol field of nfc_digital_dev structure used to determine if a target is currently active was set too soon, immediately when a target is found. This is not good since there is no other way than deactivate_target() to reset curr_protocol and if activate_target() is not called, the target remains active and it's not possible to put the device in poll mode anymore. With this patch curr_protocol is set when nfc core activates a target, puts a device up, or when an ATR_REQ is received in target mode. Another problem is that it uses hub->ports[i] while the port device is being released. To fix this race, we need to hold the device_state_lock while hub_disconnect() changes the values. (Note that usb_disconnect() and hub_port_connect_change() already acquire this lock at similar critical times during a USB device's life cycle.) We also need to remove the port devices after maxchild has been set to 0, instead of before. We no longer have a means to differentiate between MSP devices at probe time, mainly because we don't really have to. So rather than have an over- sized static data structure in place, where the only difference between devices is the ID and name (which are unused), we'll just create one succinct, statically assigned and shared one instead. In this patch we do two things. Firstly, instead of open coding the store of DMA data in to the DAI for later use, we use the API provided. Secondly we create and store similar DMA data for the DT case, only this time we use 'struct snd_dmaengine_dai_dma_data' which is provided by the core for this very reason. 2014-01-07ASoC: ux500_pcm: Extend Device Tree support to deal with DMA dataLee Jones
Soon we will strip out pdata support from the Ux500 set of ASoC drivers. When this happens it will have to supply a DMA slave_config to the dmaengine. At the moment a great deal of this comes from pdata via AUXDATA. We need to become independent of this soon. This patch starts the process by allocating memory for the associated data structures and fetches the MSP id used for const struct indexing. 2014-01-07ASoC: ux500_pcm: Expect different saved DMA data when obtaining from DAI storeLee Jones
In preparation for full Device Tree enablement we must differentiate between the two varying ways DMA data can be held in the DAI store. If we're booting with Device Tree the provided 'snd_dmaengine_dai_dma_data' data structure shall be used, whereas in order to avoid breaking legacy platform data we also need to be able to translate DMA data stored using the UX500 specific 'ux500_msp_dma_params' method. Once we move over to solely use Device Tree, we can enforce the use of 'snd_dmaengine_dai_dma_data' and this code can be removed altogether. The Slave Config's addr_width attribute is populated by data_width of dma_cfg, which in turn is derived from dma_params' data_size attribute and that comes from the slot_width which is always 16 bits (2 Bytes). 2014-01-07dm cache policy mq: introduce three promotion threshold tunablesJoe Thornber
Internally the mq policy maintains a promotion threshold variable. If the hit count of a block not in the cache goes above this threshold it gets promoted to the cache. This patch introduces three new tunables that allow you to tweak the promotion threshold by adding a small value. These adjustments depend on the io type: read_promote_adjustment: READ io, default 4 write_promote_adjustment: WRITE io, default 8 discard_promote_adjustment: READ/WRITE io to a discarded block, default 1 If you're trying to quickly warm a new cache device you may wish to reduce these to encourage promotion. The pool mode must not be switched until after the corresponding pool process_* methods have been established. Otherwise, because set_pool_mode() isn't interlocked with the IO path for performance reasons, the IO path can end up executing process_* operations that don't match the mode. The pool's error_if_no_space flag can easily serve the same purpose that no_free_space did, namely: control whether handle_unserviceable_bio() will error a bio or requeue it. This is cleaner since error_if_no_space is established when the pool's features are processed during table load. So it avoids managing the no_free_space flag by taking the pool's spinlock. Now that we switch the pool to read-only mode when the data device runs out of space it causes active writers to get IO errors once we resume after resizing the data device. If no_free_space is set, save bios to the 'retry_on_resume_list' and requeue them on resume (once the data or metadata device may have been resized). With this patch the resize_io test passes again (on slower storage): dmtest run --suite thin-provisioning -n /resize_io/ Later patches fix some subtle races associated with the pool mode transitions done as part of the pool's -ENOSPC handling. Factor out_of_data_space() out of alloc_data_block(). Eliminate the use of 'no_free_space' as a latch in alloc_data_block() -- this is no longer needed now that we switch to read-only mode when we run out of data or metadata space. In a later patch, the 'no_free_space' flag will be eliminated entirely (in favor of checking metadata rather than relying on a transient flag). Move no metdata space handling into metdata_operation_failed(). Set no_free_space when metadata space is exhausted too. This is useful, because it offers consistency, for the following patch that will requeue data IOs if no_free_space. Also, rename no_space() to retry_bios_on_resume().
