2013-12-09[media] radio-shark2: Mark shark_resume_leds() inline to kill compiler warningHans de Goede
This mirrors the patch to the radio-shark driver by Geert Uytterhoeven. If SHARK_USE_LEDS=1, but CONFIG_PM=n: drivers/media/radio/radio-shark2.c:240: warning: ‘shark_resume_leds’ defined but not used Instead of making the #ifdef logic even more complicated (there are already two definitions of shark_resume_leds()), mark shark_resume_leds() inline to kill the compiler warning. shark_resume_leds() is small and it has only one caller. 2013-12-09HID: hid-sensor-hub: fix duplicate sysfs entry errorSrinivas Pandruvada
Fix kernel warning and failure to register sensor hub devices with MFD. Now many devices has in-built sensor hubs. So by default this HID hub, is properly parsed and register individual sensors as platform device using MFD framework. But if a second sensor hub is attached via USB, which has same sensors, it will result in kernel warning and failure to register MFD cell as the platform device sysfs file name will be same as created by in-built sensor hubs. This patch sets MFD cell id to PLATFORM_DEVID_AUTO. In this way there will never be duplicate sysfs file names. 2013-12-09ARM: OMAP4+: hwmod data: Don't prevent RESET of USB Host moduleRoger Quadros
Without this, the USB devices are sometimes not detected on OMAP4 Panda with u-boot v2013.10. Unlike what the comment states, errata i660 does not state that we can't RESET the USB host module. Instead it states that RESET is the only way to recover from a deadlock situation. RESET ensures that the module is in a known good state irrespective of what bootloader does with the module, so it must be done at boot. 2013-12-09KVM: PPC: Book3S: PR: Enable interrupts earlierAlexander Graf
Now that the svcpu sync is interrupt aware we can enable interrupts earlier in the exit code path again, moving 32bit and 64bit closer together. While at it, document the fact that we're always executing the exit path with interrupts enabled so that the next person doesn't trap over this. Signed-off-by: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de>
2013-12-09KVM: PPC: Book3S: PR: Make svcpu -> vcpu store preempt savvyAlexander Graf
As soon as we get back to our "highmem" handler in virtual address space we may get preempted. Today the reason we can get preempted is that we replay interrupts and all the lazy logic thinks we have interrupts enabled. However, it's not hard to make the code interruptible and that way we can enable and handle interrupts even earlier. This fixes random guest crashes that happened with CONFIG_PREEMPT=y for me. 2013-12-09KVM: PPC: Book3S: PR: Export kvmppc_copy_to|from_svcpuAlexander Graf
The kvmppc_copy_{to,from}_svcpu functions are publically visible, so we should also export them in a header for others C files to consume. So far we didn't need this because we only called it from asm code. The next patch will introduce a C caller. Signed-off-by: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de>
2013-12-09KVM: PPC: Book3S: PR: Don't clobber our exit handler idAlexander Graf
We call a C helper to save all svcpu fields into our vcpu. The C ABI states that r12 is considered volatile. However, we keep our exit handler id in r12 currently. So we need to save it away into a non-volatile register instead that definitely does get preserved across the C call. This bug usually didn't hit anyone yet since gcc is smart enough to generate code that doesn't even need r12 which means it stayed identical throughout the call by sheer luck. But we can't rely on that. Signed-off-by: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de>

2013-12-08serial: samsung: move clock deactivation below uart registrationHeiko Stübner
Commit 60e93575476f (serial: samsung: enable clock before clearing pending interrupts during init) added handling of the controller clock during init. On most systems this clock is also one of the baud_clock sources and possibly used by the earlycon and thus already enabled by the bootloader. Therefore a gap exists between s3c24xx_serial_init_port disabling the clock and an attached console reenabling it, making the transition from earlycon to regular console possibly hang the system - as seen on my S3C2442 based Freerunner today. Therefore move the disabling of the clock from s3c24xx_serial_init_port below the uart port registration, effectively creating an overlap and keeping the clock running non-stop if the console wants to grab this port. 2013-12-08n_gsm: race between ld close and gsmtty openChao Bi
ttyA has ld associated to n_gsm, when ttyA is closing, it triggers to release gsmttyB's ld data dlci[B], then race would happen if gsmttyB is opening in parallel. (Note: This patch set differs from previous set in that it uses mutex instead of spin lock to avoid race, so that it avoids sleeping in automic context) Here are race cases we found recently in test: CASE #1 ==================================================================== releasing dlci[B] race with gsmtty_install(gsmttyB), then panic in gsmtty_open(gsmttyB), as below: tty_release(ttyA) tty_open(gsmttyB) | | ----- gsmtty_install(gsmttyB) | | ----- gsm_dlci_alloc(gsmttyB) => alloc dlci[B] tty_ldisc_release(ttyA) ----- | | gsm_dlci_release(dlci[B]) ----- | | gsm_dlci_free(dlci[B]) ----- | | ----- gsmtty_open(gsmttyB) gsmtty_open() { struct gsm_dlci *dlci = tty->driver_data; => here it uses dlci[B] ... } In gsmtty_open(gsmttyA), it uses dlci[B] which was release, so hit a panic. ===================================================================== CASE #2 ===================================================================== releasing dlci[0] race with gsmtty_install(gsmttyB), then panic in gsmtty_open(), as below: tty_release(ttyA) tty_open(gsmttyB) | | ----- gsmtty_install(gsmttyB) | | ----- gsm_dlci_alloc(gsmttyB) => alloc dlci[B] | | ----- gsmtty_open(gsmttyB) fail | | ----- tty_release(gsmttyB) | | ----- gsmtty_close(gsmttyB) | | ----- gsmtty_detach_dlci(dlci[B]) | | ----- dlci_put(dlci[B]) | | tty_ldisc_release(ttyA) ----- | | gsm_dlci_release(dlci[0]) ----- | | gsm_dlci_free(dlci[0]) ----- | | ----- dlci_put(dlci[0]) In gsmtty_detach_dlci(dlci[B]), it tries to use dlci[0] which was released, then hit panic. ===================================================================== IMHO, n_gsm tty operations would refer released ldisc, as long as gsm_dlci_release() has chance to release ldisc data when some gsmtty operations are ongoing.. This patch is try to avoid it by: 1) in n_gsm driver, use a global gsm mutex lock to avoid gsm_dlci_release() run in parallel with gsmtty_install(); 2) Increase dlci's ref count in gsmtty_install() instead of in gsmtty_open(), the purpose is to prevent gsm_dlci_release() releasing dlci after gsmtty_install() allocats dlci but before gsmtty_open increases dlci's ref count; 3) Decrease dlci's ref count in gsmtty_remove(), a tty framework API, this is the opposite process of step 2). 2013-12-08serial_core: Don't re-initialize a previously initialized spinlock.Randy Witt
The uart_set_options() code unconditionally initalizes the spinlock on the port. This can cause a deadlock in some situations. One instance that exposed the problem, was when writing to /sys/module/kgdboc/parameters/kgdboc to use ttyS0 when the console is already running on ttyS0. If the spinlock is re-initialized while the lock is held due to output to the console, there is a deadlock. Assume the spinlock is initialized if the port is a console. 2013-12-07sysfs: give different locking key to regular and bin filesTejun Heo
027a485d12e0 ("sysfs: use a separate locking class for open files depending on mmap") assigned different lockdep key to sysfs_open_file->mutex depending on whether the file implements mmap or not in an attempt to avoid spurious lockdep warning caused by merging of regular and bin file paths. While this restored some of the original behavior of using different locks (at least lockdep is concerned) for the different clases of files. The restoration wasn't full because now the lockdep key assignment depends on whether the file has mmap or not instead of whether it's a regular file or not. This means that bin files which don't implement mmap will get assigned the same lockdep class as regular files. This is problematic because file_operations for bin files still implements the mmap file operation and checking whether the sysfs file actually implements mmap happens in the file operation after grabbing @sysfs_open_file->mutex. We still end up adding locking dependency from mmap locking to sysfs_open_file->mutex to the regular file mutex which triggers spurious circular locking warning. Fix it by restoring the original behavior fully by differentiating lockdep key by whether the file is regular or bin, instead of the existence of mmap.
