2012-11-26efi_pstore: Add ctime to argument of erase callbackSeiji Aguchi
[Issue] Currently, a variable name, which is used to identify each log entry, consists of type, id and ctime. But an erase callback does not use ctime. If efi_pstore supported just one log, type and id were enough. However, in case of supporting multiple logs, it doesn't work because it can't distinguish each entry without ctime at erasing time. <Example> As you can see below, efi_pstore can't differentiate first event from second one without ctime. a variable name of first event: dump-type0-1-12345678 a variable name of second event: dump-type0-1-23456789 type:0 id:1 ctime:12345678, 23456789 [Solution] This patch adds ctime to an argument of an erase callback. It works across reboots because ctime of pstore means the date that the record was originally stored. To do this, efi_pstore saves the ctime to variable name at writing time and passes it to pstore at reading time. 2012-11-26efi_pstore: Remove a logic erasing entries from a write callback to hold ↵Seiji Aguchi
multiple logs [Issue] Currently, efi_pstore driver simply overwrites existing panic messages in NVRAM. So, in the following scenario, we will lose 1st panic messages. 1. kernel panics. 2. efi_pstore is kicked and writes panic messages to NVRAM. 3. system reboots. 4. kernel panics again before a user checks the 1st panic messages in NVRAM. [Solution] A reasonable solution to fix the issue is just holding multiple logs without erasing existing entries. This patch removes a logic erasing existing entries in a write callback because the logic is not needed in the write callback to support holding multiple logs. 2012-11-26efi_pstore: Check remaining space with QueryVariableInfo() before writing dataSeiji Aguchi
[Issue] As discussed in a thread below, Running out of space in EFI isn't a well-tested scenario. And we wouldn't expect all firmware to handle it gracefully. http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=134305325801789&w=2 On the other hand, current efi_pstore doesn't check a remaining space of storage at writing time. Therefore, efi_pstore may not work if it tries to write a large amount of data. [Patch Description] To avoid handling the situation above, this patch checks if there is a space enough to log with QueryVariableInfo() before writing data. 2012-11-26x86, apic: Cleanup cfg->domain setup for legacy interruptsSuresh Siddha
Issues that need to be handled: * Handle PIC interrupts on any CPU irrespective of the apic mode * In the apic lowest priority logical flat delivery mode, be prepared to handle the interrupt on any CPU irrespective of what the IO-APIC RTE says. * Because of above, when the IO-APIC starts handling the legacy PIC interrupt, use the same vector that is being used by the PIC while programming the corresponding IO-APIC RTE. Start with all the cpu's in the legacy PIC interrupts cfg->domain. By the time IO-APIC starts taking over the PIC interrupts, apic driver model is finalized. So depend on the assign_irq_vector() to update the cfg->domain and retain the same vector that was used by PIC before. For the logical apic flat mode, cfg->domain is updated (during the first call to assign_irq_vector()) to contain all the possible online cpu's (0xff). Vector used for the legacy PIC interrupt doesn't change when the IO-APIC starts handling the interrupt. Any interrupt migration after that doesn't change the cfg->domain or the vector used. For other apic modes like physical mode, cfg->domain is updated (during the first call to assign_irq_vector()) to the boot cpu (cpu-0), with the same vector that is being used by the PIC. When that interrupt is migrated to a different cpu, cfg->domin and the vector assigned will change accordingly. 2012-11-26serial: mxs-auart: disable the Receive Timeout Interrupt when DMA is enabledHuang Shijie
When the DMA is enabled, the Receive Timeout interrupt is very easy to be arised in the 3M baud rate. The interrupt handler (aka mxs_auart_irq_handle) will call mxs_auart_rx_chars() to handle the received data. This is not right, we can not get the correct data from the RXFIFO now, the data have been moved to the DMA buffer by the DMA engine. This patch (1) disables the Receive Timeout Interrupt when the DMA is enabled, (2) and invoke the mxs_auart_rx_chars() only when the DMA is not enabled. 2012-11-26serial: samsung: fix potential soft lockup during uart writeThomas Abraham
Certain tty line discipline implementations such slip and bluetooth hci invoke the serial core uart_write() api in their write_wakeup callback. This leads to a soft lockup with samsung serial driver since the uart port lock is taken in the driver's interrupt handler and uart_write() attempts to take the same lock again. Fix this issue by releasing the uart port lock before the call to uart_write_wakeup() in the tx handler. Also move the spin-lock/unlock sequence from s3c64xx_serial_handle_irq() function into the tx and rx irq handlers so that this change is applicable to s3c24xx platforms as well.
