2012-03-23[S390] perf: add support for s390x CPU countersHendrik Brueckner
Add a perf PMU to access the CPU-measurement counter facility CPUM CF. CPUM CF provides multiple counter sets for measuring generic, problem-state, and crypto activaties. Also an extended counter set for the IBM System z10 and IBM z196 mainframes is available. Counters from the basic and problem-state counter set are mapped to generic perf hardware events. Other counters are accessible through raw events. Prepare the measurement facility which is currently only used by oprofile for multiple users. To achieve that the measurement alert interrupt control bit needs to be protected. The measurement alert definitions are moved to a header file and an interrupt mask is added so that users can discard interrupts if they are for a different measurement subsystem. Add I2C driver for MCP3021 that is an ADC chip from Microchip. The MCP3021 is a successive approximation A/D converter (ADC) with 10-bit resolution. The driver export the value of Vin to sysfs, the voltage unit is mV. Through the sysfs interface, lm-sensors tool can also display Vin voltage. Manual fan speed control uses a standard interface and has received sufficient testing and review by now, it can be enabled unconditionally. This includes attributes pwm[1-8], pwm[1-8]_enable, pwm[1-8]_mode and pwm[1-8]_freq. We only let the user switch from automatic mode to manual mode, but not the other way around, as automatic control settings may not have been set properly by the BIOS. The sodaville driver doesn't build anymore due to the transition to common irq_domain in the core code. It needs to be reworked, but the rework isn't trivial. 2012-03-23microblaze: Handle TLB skip size dynamicallyMichal Simek
This patch fix the problem with rootfs on JFFS2 with early printk console turned on. The origin version used TLB63 for temporary early printk mapping. The code expect that kernel is not able to use all 64 TLB entries till early printk console is remapped by ioremap. After that temporary mapping on TLB63 is silently lost. This expectation give the opportunity to have early console pretty early. Microblaze systems with JFFS2 rootfs with early printk console turned on used more than 64 TLB entries before kernel can remap early console. Based on that kernel does access to bad area because early printk mapping is rewritten. This patch introduces tlb_skip variable which dynamically stores number of skipped TLB entries from the TLB0. skip_tlb=2 means that TLB0 and TLB1 should be skipped. MICROBLAZE_TLB_SKIP defines how many TLB is skipped at the kernel start. They can be used for user purpose. TLB 63 is used for temporary LMB mapping (MICROBLAZE_LMB_TLB_ID). Also clean TLBLO when kernel starts. For specific kernel sizes kernel can use just one TLB. Detect this case and use the second TLB for general purpose. Fix how many pages are allocated in mapin_ram. It is lowmem_size not setup CONFIG_LOWMEM_SIZE because it is the same for all systems. Which means that wrong pages are allocated if memory size is smaller than CONFIG_LOWMEM_SIZE. It has dramatic impact on bootup time. On sp605 MMU full hw design is 7s. The following patch aimed to resolve an issue where secondary, tertiary, etc. addresses added to bond interfaces could overwrite the bond->master_ip and vlan_ip values. commit 917fbdb32f37e9a93b00bb12ee83532982982df3 Author: Henrik Saavedra Persson <henrik.e.persson@ericsson.com> Date: Wed Nov 23 23:37:15 2011 +0000 bonding: only use primary address for ARP That patch was good because it prevented bonds using ARP monitoring from sending frames with an invalid source IP address. Unfortunately, it didn't always work as expected. When using an ioctl (like ifconfig does) to set the IP address and netmask, 2 separate ioctls are actually called to set the IP and netmask if the mask chosen doesn't match the standard mask for that class of address. The first ioctl did not have a mask that matched the one in the primary address and would still cause the device address to be overwritten. The second ioctl that was called to set the mask would then detect as secondary and ignored, but the damage was already done. This was not an issue when using an application that used netlink sockets as the setting of IP and netmask came down at once. The inconsistent behavior between those two interfaces was something that needed to be resolved. While I was thinking about how I wanted to resolve this, Ralf Zeidler came with a patch that resolved this on a RHEL kernel by keeping a full shadow of the entries in dev->ifa_list for the bonding device and vlan devices in the bonding driver. I didn't like the duplication of the list as I want to see the 'bonding' struct and code shrink rather than grow, but liked the general idea. As the Subject indicates this patch drops the master_ip and vlan_ip elements from the 'bonding' and 'vlan_entry' structs, respectively. This can be done because a device's address-list is now traversed to determine the optimal source IP address for ARP requests and for checks to see if the bonding device has a particular IP address. This code could have all be contained inside the bonding driver, but it made more sense to me to EXPORT and call inet_confirm_addr since it did exactly what was needed. I tested this and a backported patch and everything works as expected. Ralf also helped with verification of the backported patch.
