2016-08-01SUNRPC: Detect immediate closure of accepted socketsTrond Myklebust
This modification is useful for debugging issues that happen while the socket is being initialised. Signed-off-by: Trond Myklebust <trond.myklebust@primarydata.com> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@redhat.com>
2016-08-01SUNRPC: accept() may return sockets that are still in SYN_RECVTrond Myklebust
We're seeing traces of the following form: [10952.396347] svc: transport ffff88042ba4a 000 dequeued, inuse=2 [10952.396351] svc: tcp_accept ffff88042ba4 a000 sock ffff88042a6e4c80 [10952.396362] nfsd: connect from 10.2.6.1, port=187 [10952.396364] svc: svc_setup_socket ffff8800b99bcf00 [10952.396368] setting up TCP socket for reading [10952.396370] svc: svc_setup_socket created ffff8803eb10a000 (inet ffff88042b75b800) [10952.396373] svc: transport ffff8803eb10a000 put into queue [10952.396375] svc: transport ffff88042ba4a000 put into queue [10952.396377] svc: server ffff8800bb0ec000 waiting for data (to = 3600000) [10952.396380] svc: transport ffff8803eb10a000 dequeued, inuse=2 [10952.396381] svc_recv: found XPT_CLOSE [10952.396397] svc: svc_delete_xprt(ffff8803eb10a000) [10952.396398] svc: svc_tcp_sock_detach(ffff8803eb10a000) [10952.396399] svc: svc_sock_detach(ffff8803eb10a000) [10952.396412] svc: svc_sock_free(ffff8803eb10a000) i.e. an immediate close of the socket after initialisation. The culprit appears to be the test at the end of svc_tcp_init, which checks if the newly created socket is in the TCP_ESTABLISHED state, and immediately closes it if not. The evidence appears to suggest that the socket might still be in the SYN_RECV state at this time. The fix is to check for both states, and then to add a check in svc_tcp_state_change() to ensure we don't close the socket when it transitions into TCP_ESTABLISHED. 2016-08-01perf annotate: Plug filename string leakArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
If dso__build_id_filename(..., NULL, ...) returns !NULL its because it allocated it, so, when reaching the 'if (dso__is_kcore()) test, we already checked that and were just "fallbacking" to using dso->long_name, but without freeing filename, thus leaking it. Fix it by adding the dso__is_kcore() test to the 'or' group just after it, the one containing the full fallback code, including freeing the filename. 2016-08-01perf annotate: Introduce strerror for handling symbol__disassemble() errorsArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
We were just using pr_error() which makes it difficult for non stdio UIs to provide errors using its widgets, as they need to somehow catch what was passed to pr_error(). Fix it by introducing a __strerror() interface like the ones used elsewhere, for instance target__strerror(). This is just the initial step, more work will be done, but first some error handling bugs noticed while working on this need to be dealt with. 2016-08-01sctp: change to use TCP_CLOSE_WAIT as SCTP_SS_CLOSINGXin Long
Prior to this patch, sctp defined TCP_CLOSING as SCTP_SS_CLOSING. TCP_CLOSING is such a special sk state in TCP that inet common codes even exclude it. For instance, inet_accept thinks the accept sk's state never be TCP_CLOSING, or it will give a WARN_ON. TCP works well with that while SCTP may trigger the call trace, as CLOSING state in SCTP has different meaning from TCP. This fix is to change to use TCP_CLOSE_WAIT as SCTP_SS_CLOSING, instead of TCP_CLOSING. Some side-effects could be expected, regardless of not being used before. inet_accept will accept it now. I did all the func_tests in lksctp-tools and ran sctp codnomicon fuzzer tests against this patch, no regression or failure found. 2016-08-01perf annotate: Rename symbol__annotate() to symbol__disassemble()Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo
This function will not annotate anything, it will just disassembly the given map->dso and symbol. It currently does this by parsing the output of 'objdump --disassemble', but this could conceivably be done using a library or an offshot of the kernel's instruction decoder (arch/x86/lib/inat.c), etc. Cc: Adrian Hunter <adrian.hunter@intel.com> Cc: David Ahern <dsahern@gmail.com> Cc: Jiri Olsa <jolsa@kernel.org> Cc: Namhyung Kim <namhyung@kernel.org> Cc: Wang Nan <wangnan0@huawei.com> Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/n/tip-2xpfl4bfnrd6x584b390qok7@git.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com>
2016-08-01virtio: new feature to detect IOMMU device quirkMichael S. Tsirkin
The interaction between virtio and IOMMUs is messy. On most systems with virtio, physical addresses match bus addresses, and it doesn't particularly matter which one we use to program the device. On some systems, including Xen and any system with a physical device that speaks virtio behind a physical IOMMU, we must program the IOMMU for virtio DMA to work at all. On other systems, including SPARC and PPC64, virtio-pci devices are enumerated as though they are behind an IOMMU, but the virtio host ignores the IOMMU, so we must either pretend that the IOMMU isn't there or somehow map everything as the identity. Add a feature bit to detect that quirk: VIRTIO_F_IOMMU_PLATFORM. Any device with this feature bit set to 0 needs a quirk and has to be passed physical addresses (as opposed to bus addresses) even though the device is behind an IOMMU. Note: it has to be a per-device quirk because for example, there could be a mix of passed-through and virtual virtio devices. As another example, some devices could be implemented by an out of process hypervisor backend (in case of qemu vhost, or vhost-user) and so support for an IOMMU needs to be coded up separately. It would be cleanest to handle this in IOMMU core code, but that needs per-device DMA ops. While we are waiting for that to be implemented, use a work-around in virtio core. Note: a "noiommu" feature is a quirk - add a wrapper to make that clear. Signed-off-by: Michael S. Tsirkin <mst@redhat.com>
2016-08-01balloon: check the number of available pages in leak balloonKonstantin Neumoin
The balloon has a special mechanism that is subscribed to the oom notification which leads to deflation for a fixed number of pages. The number is always fixed even when the balloon is fully deflated. But leak_balloon did not expect that the pages to deflate will be more than taken, and raise a "BUG" in balloon_page_dequeue when page list will be empty. So, the simplest solution would be to check that the number of releases pages is less or equal to the number taken pages.
