It is confusing to name return variables mixedly "status",
"err" or "ret". I just changed them all to "ret", by personal

We need to convert all old gpio irqchips to pass the irqchip
setup along when adding the gpio_chip. For more info see
drivers/gpio/TODO.
For chained irqchips this is a pretty straight-forward
conversion.

This ThinkCentre machine has a new realtek codec alc222, it is not
in the support list, we add it in the realtek.c then this machine
can apply FIXUPs for the realtek codec.
And this machine has two front mics which can't be handled
by PA so far, it uses the pin 0x18 and 0x19 as the front mics, as
a result the existing FIXUP ALC294_FIXUP_LENOVO_MIC_LOCATION doesn't
work on this machine. Fortunately another FIXUP
ALC283_FIXUP_HEADSET_MIC also can change the location for one of the
two mics on this machine.

The commit 20c169aceb45 ("dmaengine: rcar-dmac: clear pertinence
number of channels") forgets to clear the last channel by
DMACHCLR in rcar_dmac_init() (and doesn't need to clear the first
channel) if iommu is mapped to the device. So, this patch fixes it
by using "channels_mask" bitfield.
Note that the hardware and driver don't support more than 32 bits
in DMACHCLR register anyway, so this patch should reject more than
32 channels in rcar_dmac_parse_of().

For the Spreadtrum DMA link-list mode, when the DMA engine got a slave
hardware request, which will trigger the DMA engine to load the DMA
configuration from the link-list memory automatically. But before the
slave hardware request, the slave will get an incorrect residue due
to the first node used to trigger the link-list was configured as the
last source address and destination address.
Thus we should make sure the first node was configured the start source
address and destination address, which can fix this issue.

Currently md raid0/linear are not provided with any mechanism to validate
if an array member got removed or failed. The driver keeps sending BIOs
regardless of the state of array members, and kernel shows state 'clean'
in the 'array_state' sysfs attribute. This leads to the following
situation: if a raid0/linear array member is removed and the array is
mounted, some user writing to this array won't realize that errors are
happening unless they check dmesg or perform one fsync per written file.
Despite udev signaling the member device is gone, 'mdadm' cannot issue the
STOP_ARRAY ioctl successfully, given the array is mounted.
In other words, no -EIO is returned and writes (except direct ones) appear
normal. Meaning the user might think the wrote data is correctly stored in
the array, but instead garbage was written given that raid0 does stripping
(and so, it requires all its members to be working in order to not corrupt
data). For md/linear, writes to the available members will work fine, but
if the writes go to the missing member(s), it'll cause a file corruption
situation, whereas the portion of the writes to the missing devices aren't
written effectively.
This patch changes this behavior: we check if the block device's gendisk
is UP when submitting the BIO to the array member, and if it isn't, we flag
the md device as MD_BROKEN and fail subsequent I/Os to that device; a read
request to the array requiring data from a valid member is still completed.
While flagging the device as MD_BROKEN, we also show a rate-limited warning
in the kernel log.
A new array state 'broken' was added too: it mimics the state 'clean' in
every aspect, being useful only to distinguish if the array has some member
missing. We rely on the MD_BROKEN flag to put the array in the 'broken'
state. This state cannot be written in 'array_state' as it just shows
one or more members of the array are missing but acts like 'clean', it
wouldn't make sense to write it.
With this patch, the filesystem reacts much faster to the event of missing
array member: after some I/O errors, ext4 for instance aborts the journal
and prevents corruption. Without this change, we're able to keep writing
in the disk and after a machine reboot, e2fsck shows some severe fs errors
that demand fixing. This patch was tested in ext4 and xfs filesystems, and
requires a 'mdadm' counterpart to handle the 'broken' state.

If IPv6 is disabled on boot (ipv6.disable=1), but nft_fib_inet ends up
dealing with a IPv6 packet, it causes a kernel panic in

The conversion (sample) time is configurable for several chips supported
by the lm75 driver. With the necessary infrastructure in place, enable
this support for all chips using the configuration register for this
purpose.
DS1775:
Conversion time: 187.5, 375, 750, 1500 ms
Sensor resolution: 9, 10, 11, 12 bit
DS75, STDS75:
Conversion time: 150, 300, 600, 1200 ms
Sensor resolution: 9, 10, 11, 12 bit
DS7505:

Sensor resolution: 9, 10, 11, 12 bit
MCP980[0123]:
Conversion time: 75, 150, 300, 600 ms
Sensor resolution: 9, 10, 11, 12 bit
TMP100, TMP101:

TMP75, TMP105, TMP175, TMP275:
Conversion time: 38, 75, 150, 300 ms
Sensor resolution: 9, 10, 11, 12 bit
While doing this, it became obvious that the masks and values to set
the converion (sample) time is similar for all those chips, and that
other chips with configurable sample times will need separate code anyway.
For that reason, replace the sample_set_masks and sample_clr_mask
configuration parameters with a single array and with a constant.

is declaring that value is in mili-Watts but hwmon interface is expecting
value in micro-Watts that's why there is a need for mili-Watts to
micro-Watts conversion.
Tested on Xilinx ZCU102 board.

ltc2990 will now use device_property_read_u32_array() instead of
of_property_read_u32_array() - allowing the use of software nodes
via fwnode_create_software_node().
This allows code using i2c_new_device() to specify a default
measurement mode for the LTC2990 via fwnode_create_software_node().

I have been using SENSORS_W83795_FANCTRL for several years and never
had any problem. When the driver was added, I had not tested that
part of the driver yet so I wanted to be super cautious, but time has
shown that it works just fine.
In the long run I even believe that we should drop the option and
enable the feature unconditionally. It doesn't do anything until the
user explicitly starts twiddling with sysfs attributes anyway.

We don't need dev_err() messages when platform_get_irq() fails now that
platform_get_irq() prints an error message itself when something goes
wrong. Let's remove these prints with a simple semantic patch.
// <smpl>
@@
expression ret;
struct platform_device *E;
@@
ret =
(
platform_get_irq(E, ...)
|
platform_get_irq_byname(E, ...)
);
if ( \( ret < 0 \| ret <= 0 \) )
{
(
-if (ret != -EPROBE_DEFER)
-{ ...
-dev_err(...);
-... }

...
-dev_err(...);
)
...
}
// </smpl>
While we're here, remove braces on if statements that only have one
statement (manually).

At boot time, the acpi_power_meter driver logs the following error level
message: "Ignoring unsafe software power cap". Having read about it from
a few sources, it seems that the error message can be quite misleading.
While the message can imply that Linux is ignoring the fact that the
system is operating in potentially dangerous conditions, the truth is
the driver found an ACPI_PMC object that supports software power
capping. The driver simply decides not to use it, perhaps because it
doesn't support the object.
The best solution is probably changing the log level from error to warning.
All sources I have found, regarding the error, have downplayed its
significance. There is not much of a reason for it to be on error level,
while causing potential confusions or misinterpretations.
