2013-07-31ARM: 7801/1: v6: prevent gcc 4.5 from reordering extended CP15 reads above ↵Paul Walmsley
is_smp() test Commit 621a0147d5c921f4cc33636ccd0602ad5d7cbfbc ("ARM: 7757/1: mm: don't flush icache in switch_mm with hardware broadcasting") breaks the boot on OMAP2430SDP with omap2plus_defconfig. Tracked to an undefined instruction abort from the CP15 read in cache_ops_need_broadcast(). It turns out that gcc 4.5 reorders the extended CP15 read above the is_smp() test. This breaks ARM1136 r0 cores, since they don't support several CP15 registers that later ARM cores do. ARM1136JF-S TRM section 3.2.1 "Register allocation" has the details. So mark the extended CP15 read as clobbering memory, which prevents the compiler from reordering it before the is_smp() test. Russell states that the code generated from this approach is preferable to marking the inline asm as volatile. If fw_restart is disabled, using the fw_restart debugfs file will enable fw_restart and then send the failing command, but this still frequently fails restart because it resets fw_restart afterwards and is thus racy. Fix this by tracking fw_restart separately and allowing "always restart", "never restart" and "restart N times". 2013-07-31iwlwifi: mvm: Change AM->PSM timeout for EAPOL framesAlexander Bondar
Currently after sending EAPOL frame FW transition to power saving mode within 10 or 100 msec (as specified by power table command). According to new requirement this timeout for a specific EAPOL frame must be controlled by the driver by setting tx_pm_timeout field of TX_CMD to 2 (PM_FRAME_ENUM_MGMT). This value corresponds to 32 msec timeout. 2013-07-31iwlwifi: mvm: reprobe device on firmware error during restartJohannes Berg
If we get a firmware error during restart, we currently abandon any hope and simply fail, getting stuck until the driver is reloaded. Unfortunately, there isn't really much else we can do since restart will likely continue to fail, and asking mac80211 for disconnection just causes more error. To allow the user to at least set up the device again completely from scratch, reprobe the device and in doing so completely destroy any mac80211/driver state. 2013-07-31ixgbe: clear semaphore bits on timeoutsEmil Tantilov
This patch changes the error code path in ixgbe_acquire_swfw_sync() to deal with cases where acquiring SW semaphore times out. In cases where the SW/FW semaphore bits were set (i.e. due to a crash) the driver will hang on load. With this patch the driver will clear the stuck bits if the semaphore was not acquired in the allotted time. 2013-07-31ixgbe: fix lockdep annotation issue for ptp's work itemJacob Keller
This patch fixes a lockdep issue created due to ixgbe_ptp_stop always running cancel_work_sync even if the work item had not been created properly with INIT_WORK. This is caused because ixgbe_ptp_stop did not check to actually ensure PTP was running first. The new implementation introduces a state in the &adapter->state field which is used to indicate that PTP is running. (This replaces the IXGBE_FLAG2_PTP_ENABLED field). This state will use the atomic set_bit, test_bit, and test_and_clear_bit functions. ixgbe_ptp_stop will check to ensure that PTP was enabled, (and if not, it will not attempt to do any cleanup work from ixgbe_ptp_init). This patch uses the new pcie_get_minimum_link function to perform a check to ensure that the adapter is hooked into a slot which is capable of providing the necessary bandwidth. 2013-07-31PCI: Add function to obtain minimum link width and speedJacob Keller
A PCI Express device can potentially report a link width and speed which it will not properly fulfill due to being plugged into a slower link higher in the chain. This function walks up the PCI bus chain and calculates the minimum link width and speed of this entire chain. This can be useful to enable a device to determine if it has enough bandwidth for optimum functionality. 2013-07-30Do not attempt to do cifs operations reading symlinks with SMB2Steve French
When use of symlinks is enabled (mounting with mfsymlinks option) to non-Samba servers, we always tried to use cifs, even when we were mounted with SMB2 or SMB3, which causes the server to drop the network connection. This patch separates out the protocol specific operations for cifs from the code which recognizes symlinks, and fixes the problem where with SMB2 mounts we attempt cifs operations to open and read symlinks. The next patch will add support for SMB2 for opening and reading symlinks. Additional followon patches will address the similar problem creating symlinks. 2013-07-30cifs: extend the buffer length enought for sprintf() usingChen Gang
For cifs_set_cifscreds() in "fs/cifs/connect.c", 'desc' buffer length is 'CIFSCREDS_DESC_SIZE' (56 is less than 256), and 'ses->domainName' length may be "255 + '\0'". The related sprintf() may cause memory overflow, so need extend related buffer enough to hold all things. It is also necessary to be sure of 'ses->domainName' must be less than 256, and define the related macro instead of hard code number '256'. When the mvneta driver is compiled as module, the clock is disabled before it's loading. This will reset the registers values and all configuration made by the bootloader. 2013-07-30PCI: expose pcie_link_speed and pcix_bus_speed arraysJacob Keller
pcie_link_speed and pcix_bus_speed are arrays used by probe.c to correctly convert lnksta register values into the pci_bus_speed enum. These static arrays are useful outside probe for this purpose. [PATCH] atl1c: use custom skb allocator We had reports ( https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54021 ) that using high order pages for skb allocations is problematic for atl1c We do not know exactly what the problem is, but we suspect that crossing 4K pages is not well supported by this hardware. Use a custom allocator, using page allocator and 2K fragments for optimal stack behavior. We might make this allocator generic in future kernels. 2013-07-31ARM: shmobile: lager: do not annotate gpio_buttons as __initdataSimon Horman
When the gpio-keys device is registered using platform_device_register_data() the platform data argument, lager_keys_pdata is duplicated and thus should be marked as __initdata to avoid wasting memory. However, this is not true of gpio_buttons, a reference to it rather than its value is duplicated when lager_keys_pdata is duplicated. This avoids accessing freed memory if gpio-key events occur after unused kernel memory is freed late in the kernel's boot. This but was added when support for gpio-keys was added to lager in c3842e4fcbb7664276443b79187b7808c2e80a35 ("ARM: shmobile: lager: support GPIO switches") which was included in v3.11-rc1. The following message is printed on the BOCK-W kernel bootup: sh-pfc pfc-r8a7778: invalid group "sdhi0" for function "sdhi0" In addition, SD card cannot be detected. The reason is apparently that commit ca7bb309485e4ec89a9addd47bea (ARM: shmobile: bockw: add SDHI0 support) matched the previous version of commit 564617d2f92473031d035deb273da5 (sh-pfc: r8a7778: add SDHI support). Add the missing pin groups according to the BOCK-W board schematics. sh_desc->hw.tcr is controlling real data size, and, register TCR is controlling data transfer count which was xmit_shifted value of hw.tcr. Current sh_dmae_get_partial() is calculating in different unit. This patch fixes it.
