2012-05-07iommu: Rename intr_remapping files to intel_intr_remappingJoerg Roedel
The files contain code mostly relevant for the Intel implementation of interrupt remapping. Make that visible in the file names. Also inline intr_remapping.h into intr_remapping.c because it is only included there and the content is very small. So there is no reason for a seperate header file. 2012-05-07regulator: Actually free the regulator in devm_regulator_put()Mark Brown
It turns out that (quite surprisingly) devres_destroy() only undoes the devres mapping, it doesn't destroy the underlying resource, meaning that anything using devm_regulator_put() would leak. While we wait for the new devres_release() which does what we want to get merged open code it in devm_regulator_put(). Chris Wilson dug out a hw erratum saying that there's noise on the interrupt line on i945G chips. We also have a bug report from a i945GM chip with an sdvo hotplug interrupt storm (and no apparent cause). Play it safe and disable sdvo hotplug on all i945 variants. 2012-05-06vfs: don't force a big memset of stat data just to clear padding fieldsLinus Torvalds
Admittedly this is something that the compiler should be able to just do for us, but gcc just isn't that smart. And trying to use a structure initializer (which would get us the right semantics) ends up resulting in gcc allocating stack space for _two_ 'struct stat', and then copying one into the other. So do it by hand - just have a per-architecture macro that initializes the padding fields. The VM accounting makes no sense at this level, and half of the callers didn't ever actually use the end result. The only time we want to unaccount the memory is when we actually remove the vma, so do the accounting at that point instead. This simplifies the interfaces (no need to pass down that silly page counter to functions that really don't care), and also makes it much more obvious what is actually going on: we do vm_[un]acct_memory() when adding or removing the vma, not on random page walking. With the recent changes for how we compute the skb truesize it occurs to me we are probably going to have a lot of calls to skb_end_pointer - skb->head. Instead of running all over the place doing that it would make more sense to just make it a separate inline skb_end_offset(skb) that way we can return the correct value without having gcc having to do all the optimization to cancel out skb->head - skb->head. 2012-05-06skb: Drop bad code from pskb_expand_headAlexander Duyck
The fast-path for pskb_expand_head contains a check where the size plus the unaligned size of skb_shared_info is compared against the size of the data buffer. This code path has two issues. First is the fact that after the recent changes by Eric Dumazet to __alloc_skb and build_skb the shared info is always placed in the optimal spot for a buffer size making this check unnecessary. The second issue is the fact that the check doesn't take into account the aligned size of shared info. As a result the code burns cycles doing a memcpy with nothing actually being shifted. 2012-05-06bnx2x: bug fix when loading after SAN bootAriel Elior
This is a bug fix for an "interface fails to load" issue. The issue occurs when bnx2x driver loads after UNDI driver was previously loaded over the chip. In such a scenario the UNDI driver is loaded and operates in the pre-boot kernel, within its own specific host memory address range. When the pre-boot stage is complete, the real kernel is loaded, in a new and distinct host memory address range. The transition from pre-boot stage to boot is asynchronous from UNDI point of view. A race condition occurs when UNDI driver triggers a DMAE transaction to valid host addresses in the pre-boot stage, when control is diverted to the real kernel. This results in access to illegal addresses by our HW as the addresses which were valid in the preboot stage are no longer considered valid. Specifically, the 'was_error' bit in the pci glue of our device is set. This causes all following pci transactions from chip to host to timeout (in accordance to the pci spec). It turned to be totally unneeded. The reason the code was introduced is so that KVM can prefault swapped in page, but prefault can fail even if mm is pinned since page table can change anyway. KVM handles this situation correctly though and does not inject spurious page faults. 2012-05-06KVM: ensure async PF event wakes up vcpu from haltGleb Natapov
If vcpu executes hlt instruction while async PF is waiting to be delivered vcpu can block and deliver async PF only after another even wakes it up. This happens because kvm_check_async_pf_completion() will remove completion event from vcpu->async_pf.done before entering kvm_vcpu_block() and this will make kvm_arch_vcpu_runnable() return false. 2012-05-06Btrfs: avoid sleeping in verify_parent_transid while atomicChris Mason
verify_parent_transid needs to lock the extent range to make sure no IO is underway, and so it can safely clear the uptodate bits if our checks fail. But, a few callers are using it with spinlocks held. Most of the time, the generation numbers are going to match, and we don't want to switch to a blocking lock just for the error case. 2012-05-06ARM: 7414/1: SMP: prevent use of the console when using idmap_pgdColin Cross
Commit 4e8ee7de227e3ab9a72040b448ad728c5428a042 (ARM: SMP: use idmap_pgd for mapping MMU enable during secondary booting) switched secondary boot to use idmap_pgd, which is initialized during early_initcall, instead of a page table initialized during __cpu_up. This causes idmap_pgd to contain the static mappings but be missing all dynamic mappings. If a console is registered that creates a dynamic mapping, the printk in secondary_start_kernel will trigger a data abort on the missing mapping before the exception handlers have been initialized, leading to a hang. Initial boot is not affected because no consoles have been registered, and resume is usually not affected because the offending console is suspended. Onlining a cpu with hotplug triggers the problem. A workaround is to the printk in secondary_start_kernel until after the page tables have been switched back to init_mm. 2012-05-06ARM: 7413/1: move read_{boot,persistent}_clock to the architecture levelMarc Zyngier
At the moment, read_persistent_clock is implemented at the platform level, which makes it impossible to compile these platforms in a single kernel. Implement these two functions at the architecture level, and provide a thin registration interface for both read_boot_clock and read_persistent_clock. The two affected platforms (OMAP and Tegra) are converted at the same time.
