2011-11-14PM / shmobile: Avoid restoring the INTCS state during initializationRafael J. Wysocki
The SH7372 PM domain initialization routine calls pd_power_up() that executes the domain's .resume() callback, if present, and for the A4R domain this callback attepmts to restore the INTCS state from uninitialized data. To avoid that, introduce __pd_power_up() that will only execute the domain's .resume() callback if its second argument is 'true' and make the SH7372 PM domain initialization use it with 'false' as its second argument. 'readelf -n' on the s390 vmlinux file generates lots of warnings about corrupt notes. The reason is that the 'NOTE' program header has incorrect file and memory sizes. The problem is that the section following the NOTES section do not switch to a different phdr and they get added to the NOTE program section. 2011-11-14vgaarb: a NULL bridge is acceptable for root devices.Dave Airlie
I assumed all PCI buses had a bridge, but playing with qemu recently, I discovered vgaarb bug where it wasn't detecting both devices shared a bridge at the root level. commit 27641c3f (drm/vblank: Add support for precise vblank timestamping) adds preempt_disable()/enable() around a spin locked section with the comments: * Disable preemption, so vblank_time_lock is held as short as * possible, even under a kernel with PREEMPT_RT patches. /* Disable preemption while holding vblank_time_lock. Do * it explicitely to guard against PREEMPT_RT kernel. Just that this has never been tested on a RT kernel which would have granted that nonsense with a might_sleep() warning because dev->vblank_time_lock is converted to a "sleeping" spinlock on RT. So this is activly wrong on RT and superflous on mainline. Remove it. 2011-11-14ip6_tunnel: copy parms.name after register_netdeviceJosh Boyer
Commit 1c5cae815d removed an explicit call to dev_alloc_name in ip6_tnl_create because register_netdevice will now create a valid name. This works for the net_device itself. However the tunnel keeps a copy of the name in the parms structure for the ip6_tnl associated with the tunnel. parms.name is set by copying the net_device name in ip6_tnl_dev_init_gen. That function is called from ip6_tnl_dev_init in ip6_tnl_create, but it is done before register_netdevice is called so the name is set to a bogus value in the parms.name structure. 2011-11-14forcedeth: fix stats on hardware without extended stats supportdavid decotigny
This change makes sure that tx_packets/rx_bytes ifconfig counters are updated even on NICs that don't provide hardware support for these stats: they are now updated in software. For the sake of consistency, we also now have tx_bytes updated in software (hardware counters include ethernet CRC, and software doesn't account for it). Commit 1bc144b625 ("net, rds, Replace xlist in net/rds/xlist.h with llist") added "select LLIST" to the RDS_RDMA Kconfig entry. But there is no Kconfig symbol named LLIST. The select statement for that symbol is a nop. Drop it. lib/llist.o is builtin, so all that's needed to use the llist functionality is to include linux/llist.h, which this commit also did. So after that check there is no way that 'tx_ring' could be anything _but_ zero, so testing it again is just dead code. 2011-11-14virtio-pci: fix use after freeMichael S. Tsirkin
Commit 31a3ddda166cda86d2b5111e09ba4bda5239fae6 introduced a use after free in virtio-pci. The main issue is that the release method signals removal of the virtio device, while remove signals removal of the pci device. For example, on driver removal or hot-unplug, virtio_pci_release_dev is called before virtio_pci_remove. We then might get a crash as virtio_pci_remove tries to use the device freed by virtio_pci_release_dev. After commit e978aa7d7d57 ("cpuidle: Move dev->last_residency update to driver enter routine; remove dev->last_state") setting acpi_idle_suspend to 1 by acpi_processor_suspend() causes the ACPI cpuidle routines to return error codes continuously, which in turn causes cpuidle to lock up (hard). However, acpi_idle_suspend doesn't appear to be useful for any particular purpose (it's racy and doesn't really provide any real protection), so it can be removed, which makes the problem go away. When the ahash driver returns -EBUSY, AH4/6 input functions return NET_XMIT_DROP, presumably copied from the output code path. But returning transmit codes on input doesn't make a lot of sense. Since NET_XMIT_DROP is a positive int, this gets interpreted as the next header type (i.e., success). As that can only end badly, remove the check. setup_processor copies the arch_name and elf_name fields out of the selected proc_info_list into two fixed size buffers. Since the proc_info_list structure is defined in a proc_*.S assembly file, this can lead to subtle errors if the strings defined there are too long (for example, corrupting the machine ID).
