2009-12-14vfs: nfsctl.c un-used nfsd #includesBoaz Harrosh
Only linux/nfsd/syscall.h is actually used. Remove the other nfsd #includes, so they can be moved to source directory. Signed-off-by: Boaz Harrosh <bharrosh@panasas.com> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>

2009-12-14compat.c: Remove dependence on nfsd private headersBoaz Harrosh
Two nfsd related headers where included but never actually used. The linux/nfsd/nfsd.h file will eventually be moved to fs/nfsd directory as it is only needed by nfsd itself. There are 3 more compat.c files in the Kernel at other ARCHs that wrongly #include nfsd headers. Once these are fixed the headers can be moved. 2009-12-14nfsd: Source files #include cleanupsBoaz Harrosh
Now that the headers are fixed and carry their own wait, all fs/nfsd/ source files can include a minimal set of headers. and still compile just fine. This patch should improve the compilation speed of the nfsd module. Signed-off-by: Boaz Harrosh <bharrosh@panasas.com> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>
2009-12-14nfsd: Headers Independence and include cleanupsBoaz Harrosh
* Add includes that are directly used by headers * Remove includes that are not needed These are the changes made: [xdr.h] struct nfsd_readdirres has an embedded struct readdir_cd from nfsd.h fixing that we can drop other includes [xdr4.h] embedded types defined both at state.h and nfsd.h [syscall.h] After export.h fix none of these stuff is needed. fix extra space in # include <> statement [stats.h] does not need <linux/nfs4.h> but was export to user-mode so I don't touch it [state.h] embedded types from nfsfh.h like struct knfsd_fh. bringing that eliminates the need for all other includes [nfsfh.h] directly manipulating types from sunrpc/svc.h. Removed Other unused headers. [nfsd.h] removed unused headers include [export.h] lots of sunrpc/svc.h types and a single prototype declaration with pointer from nfsfh.h, but all users of export.h do need nfsfh.h any way. remove now un-needed include. [const.h] Unfixed (not independent) [cache.h] could do with a forward declaration of "struct svc_rqst;" from sunrpc/svc.h but all users absolutely will need sunrpc/svc.h it is easier overall this way. 2009-12-14nfsd: Fix independence of a few nfsd related headersBoaz Harrosh
An header should be compilation independent, .i.e pull in any header who's declarations are directly used by this header. And not let users re-include all it's dependencies all over again. [At the end of the day what's the use of a header if it does not have more then one user?] Signed-off-by: Boaz Harrosh <bharrosh@panasas.com> Signed-off-by: J. Bruce Fields <bfields@citi.umich.edu>
2009-12-14sunrpc: Clean never used include filesBoaz Harrosh
Remove include of two headers never used by this file. Doing so exposed a missing #include <linux/types.h> in include/linux/sunrpc/rpc_rdma.h. I did not see any other users dependency but if exist they should be fixed since these headers are totally irrelevant to here. Signed-off-by: Boaz Harrosh <bharrosh@panasas.com> Signed-off-by: J. 2009-12-14nfsd4: fix share mode permissionsJ. Bruce Fields
NFSv4 opens may function as locks denying other NFSv4 users the rights to open a file. We're requiring a user to have write permissions before they can deny write. We're *not* requiring a user to have write permissions to deny read, which is if anything a more drastic denial. What was intended was to require write permissions for DENY_READ. Signed-off-by: J. 2009-12-14locking: Further name space cleanupsThomas Gleixner
The name space hierarchy for the internal lock functions is now a bit backwards. raw_spin* functions map to _spin* which use __spin*, while we would like to have _raw_spin* and __raw_spin*. _raw_spin* is already used by lock debugging, so rename those funtions to do_raw_spin* to free up the _raw_spin* name space. 2009-12-14alpha: Fix fallout from locking changesThomas Gleixner
spin_* functions are mostly static inline now. That causes the alpha compile to fail: CC arch/alpha/kernel/sys_sable.o cc1: warnings being treated as errors In file included from arch/alpha/kernel/sys_sable.c:25: arch/alpha/include/asm/core_t2.h: In function 't2_readb': arch/alpha/include/asm/core_t2.h:451: error: 'spinlock_check' is static but \ used in inline function 't2_readb' which is not static arch/alpha/include/asm/core_t2.h:456: error: 'spin_unlock_irqrestore' is \ static but used in inline function 't2_readb' which is not static That's caused by the "extern inline" magic which is used for the subarch specific read/write[bwl] functions. I tried to distangle the uncountable macro onion layers, but failed miserably. Last resort solution: switch the t2_hae_lock to raw_spinlock_t so the lock functions are pure macros and function calls again. 2009-12-14locking: Implement new raw_spinlockThomas Gleixner
Now that the raw_spin name space is freed up, we can implement raw_spinlock and the related functions which are used to annotate the locks which are not converted to sleeping spinlocks in preempt-rt. A side effect is that only such locks can be used with the low level lock fsunctions which circumvent lockdep. For !rt spin_* functions are mapped to the raw_spin* implementations. 2009-12-14locking: Convert raw_spinlock to arch_spinlockThomas Gleixner
The raw_spin* namespace was taken by lockdep for the architecture specific implementations. raw_spin_* would be the ideal name space for the spinlocks which are not converted to sleeping locks in preempt-rt. 2009-12-14x86: Regex support and known-movable symbols for relocs, fix _endH. Peter Anvin
This adds a new category of symbols to the relocs program: symbols which are known to be relative, even though the linker emits them as absolute; this is the case for symbols that live in the linker script, which currently applies to _end. Unfortunately the previous workaround of putting _end in its own empty section was defeated by newer binutils, which remove empty sections completely. This patch also changes the symbol matching to use regular expressions instead of hardcoded C for specific patterns. This is a decidedly non-minimal patch: a modified version of the relocs program is used as part of the Syslinux build, and this is basically a backport to Linux of some of those changes; they have thus been well tested. 2009-12-14udf: Avoid IO in udf_clear_inodeJan Kara
It is not very good to do IO in udf_clear_inode. First, VFS does not really expect inode to become dirty there and thus we have to write it ourselves, second, memory reclaim gets blocked waiting for IO when it does not really expect it, third, the IO pattern (e.g. on umount) resulting from writes in udf_clear_inode is bad and it slows down writing a lot. The reason why UDF needed to do IO in udf_clear_inode is that UDF standard mandates extent length to exactly match inode size. But when we allocate extents to a file or directory, we don't really know what exactly the final file size will be and thus temporarily set it to block boundary and later truncate it to exact length in udf_clear_inode. Now, this is changed to truncate to final file size in udf_release_file for regular files. For directories and symlinks, we do the truncation at the moment when learn what the final file size will be. Signed-off-by: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz>
2009-12-14udf: Try harder when looking for VAT inodeJan Kara
