2023-10-19drm/ast: Rename AST_IO_AR_PORT_WRITE to AST_IO_VGAARI_WThomas Zimmermann
Rename AST_IO_AR_PORT_WRITE to AST_IO_VGAARI_W to align naming in the driver with documentation. No functional changes. 2023-10-19fbdev/vt8623fb: Initialize fb_ops to fbdev I/O-memory helpersThomas Zimmermann
Initialize the instance of struct fb_ops with fbdev initializer macros for framebuffers in I/O address space. Set the read/write, draw and mmap callbacks to the correct implementation and avoid implicit defaults. Also select the necessary I/O helpers in Kconfig. Fbdev drivers sometimes rely on the callbacks being NULL for a default implementation to be invoked; hence requiring the I/O helpers to be built in any case. Setting all callbacks in all drivers explicitly will allow to make the I/O helpers optional. This benefits systems that do not use these functions. No functional changes. 2023-10-19fbdev/gbefb: Initialize fb_ops to fbdev I/O-memory helpersThomas Zimmermann
2023-10-19net: ethernet: ti: Fix mixed module-builtin objectMD Danish Anwar
With CONFIG_TI_K3_AM65_CPSW_NUSS=y and CONFIG_TI_ICSSG_PRUETH=m, k3-cppi-desc-pool.o is linked to a module and also to vmlinux even though the expected CFLAGS are different between builtins and modules. The build system is complaining about the following: k3-cppi-desc-pool.o is added to multiple modules: icssg-prueth ti-am65-cpsw-nuss Introduce the new module, k3-cppi-desc-pool, to provide the common functions to ti-am65-cpsw-nuss and icssg-prueth. 2023-10-19perf: Disallow mis-matched inherited group readsPeter Zijlstra
Because group consistency is non-atomic between parent (filedesc) and children (inherited) events, it is possible for PERF_FORMAT_GROUP read() to try and sum non-matching counter groups -- with non-sensical results. Add group_generation to distinguish the case where a parent group removes and adds an event and thus has the same number, but a different configuration of events as inherited groups. This became a problem when commit fa8c269353d5 ("perf/core: Invert perf_read_group() loops") flipped the order of child_list and sibling_list. Previously it would iterate the group (sibling_list) first, and for each sibling traverse the child_list. In this order, only the group composition of the parent is relevant. By flipping the order the group composition of the child (inherited) events becomes an issue and the mis-match in group composition becomes evident. That said; even prior to this commit, while reading of a group that is not equally inherited was not broken, it still made no sense. (Ab)use ECHILD as error return to indicate issues with child process group composition. 2023-10-19fbdev: Provide I/O-memory helpers as moduleThomas Zimmermann
Provide helpers for accessing I/O memory in a helper module. The fbdev core uses these helpers, so select the module unconditionally for fbdev. Drivers will later be able to select the module individually and the helpers will become optional.
