2021-04-02file: fix close_range() for unshare+cloexecChristian Brauner
syzbot reported a bug when putting the last reference to a tasks file descriptor table. Debugging this showed we didn't recalculate the current maximum fd number for CLOSE_RANGE_UNSHARE | CLOSE_RANGE_CLOEXEC after we unshared the file descriptors table. So max_fd could exceed the current fdtable maximum causing us to set excessive bits. As a concrete example, let's say the user requested everything from fd 4 to ~0UL to be closed and their current fdtable size is 256 with their highest open fd being 4. With CLOSE_RANGE_UNSHARE the caller will end up with a new fdtable which has room for 64 file descriptors since that is the lowest fdtable size we accept. But now max_fd will still point to 255 and needs to be adjusted. Fix this by retrieving the correct maximum fd value in __range_cloexec(). 2021-04-02objtool/x86: Rewrite retpoline thunk callsPeter Zijlstra
When the compiler emits: "CALL __x86_indirect_thunk_\reg" for an indirect call, have objtool rewrite it to: ALTERNATIVE "call __x86_indirect_thunk_\reg", "call *%reg", ALT_NOT(X86_FEATURE_RETPOLINE) Additionally, in order to not emit endless identical .altinst_replacement chunks, use a global symbol for them, see __x86_indirect_alt_*. 2021-04-02x86/retpoline: Simplify retpolinesPeter Zijlstra
Due to: c9c324dc22aa ("objtool: Support stack layout changes in alternatives") it is now possible to simplify the retpolines. Currently our retpolines consist of 2 symbols: - __x86_indirect_thunk_\reg: the compiler target - __x86_retpoline_\reg: the actual retpoline. Both are consecutive in code and aligned such that for any one register they both live in the same cacheline: 0000000000000000 <__x86_indirect_thunk_rax>: 0: ff e0 jmpq *%rax 2: 90 nop 3: 90 nop 4: 90 nop 0000000000000005 <__x86_retpoline_rax>: 5: e8 07 00 00 00 callq 11 <__x86_retpoline_rax+0xc> a: f3 90 pause c: 0f ae e8 lfence f: eb f9 jmp a <__x86_retpoline_rax+0x5> 11: 48 89 04 24 mov %rax,(%rsp) 15: c3 retq 16: 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 nopw %cs:0x0(%rax,%rax,1) The thunk is an alternative_2, where one option is a JMP to the retpoline. This was done so that objtool didn't need to deal with alternatives with stack ops. But that problem has been solved, so now it is possible to fold the entire retpoline into the alternative to simplify and consolidate unused bytes: 0000000000000000 <__x86_indirect_thunk_rax>: 0: ff e0 jmpq *%rax 2: 90 nop 3: 90 nop 4: 90 nop 5: 90 nop 6: 90 nop 7: 90 nop 8: 90 nop 9: 90 nop a: 90 nop b: 90 nop c: 90 nop d: 90 nop e: 90 nop f: 90 nop 10: 90 nop 11: 66 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 data16 nopw %cs:0x0(%rax,%rax,1) 1c: 0f 1f 40 00 nopl 0x0(%rax) Notice that since the longest alternative sequence is now: 0: e8 07 00 00 00 callq c <.altinstr_replacement+0xc> 5: f3 90 pause 7: 0f ae e8 lfence a: eb f9 jmp 5 <.altinstr_replacement+0x5> c: 48 89 04 24 mov %rax,(%rsp) 10: c3 retq 17 bytes, we have 15 bytes NOP at the end of our 32 byte slot. (IOW, if we can shrink the retpoline by 1 byte we can pack it more densely). 2021-04-02x86/alternatives: Optimize optimize_nops()Peter Zijlstra
Currently, optimize_nops() scans to see if the alternative starts with NOPs. However, the emit pattern is: 141: \oldinstr 142: .skip (len-(142b-141b)), 0x90 That is, when 'oldinstr' is short, the tail is padded with NOPs. This case never gets optimized. Rewrite optimize_nops() to replace any trailing string of NOPs inside the alternative to larger NOPs. Also run it irrespective of patching, replacing NOPs in both the original and replaced code. A direct consequence is that 'padlen' becomes superfluous, so remove it. [ bp: - Adjust commit message - remove a stale comment about needing to pad - add a comment in optimize_nops() - exit early if the NOP verif. loop catches a mismatch - function should not not add NOPs in that case - fix the "optimized NOPs" offsets output ] Signed-off-by: Peter Zijlstra (Intel) <peterz@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Borislav Petkov <bp@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@kernel.org> Link: https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20210326151259.442992235@infradead.org

2021-04-02crypto: qat - fix error path in adf_isr_resource_alloc()Giovanni Cabiddu
The function adf_isr_resource_alloc() is not unwinding correctly in case of error. This patch fixes the error paths and propagate the errors to the caller. 2021-04-02crypto: poly1305 - fix poly1305_core_setkey() declarationArnd Bergmann
gcc-11 points out a mismatch between the declaration and the definition of poly1305_core_setkey(): lib/crypto/poly1305-donna32.c:13:67: error: argument 2 of type ‘const u8[16]’ {aka ‘const unsigned char[16]’} with mismatched bound [-Werror=array-parameter=] 13 | void poly1305_core_setkey(struct poly1305_core_key *key, const u8 raw_key[16]) | ~~~~~~~~~^~~~~~~~~~~ In file included from lib/crypto/poly1305-donna32.c:11: include/crypto/internal/poly1305.h:21:68: note: previously declared as ‘const u8 *’ {aka ‘const unsigned char *’} 21 | void poly1305_core_setkey(struct poly1305_core_key *key, const u8 *raw_key); This is harmless in principle, as the calling conventions are the same, but the more specific prototype allows better type checking in the caller. Change the declaration to match the actual function definition. The poly1305_simd_init() is a bit suspicious here, as it previously had a 32-byte argument type, but looks like it needs to take the 16-byte POLY1305_BLOCK_SIZE array instead. 2021-04-02random: initialize ChaCha20 constants with correct endiannessEric Biggers
On big endian CPUs, the ChaCha20-based CRNG is using the wrong endianness for the ChaCha20 constants. This doesn't matter cryptographically, but technically it means it's not ChaCha20 anymore. Fix it to always use the standard constants.
