2014-08-01i2c: pca954x: put the mux to disconnected state after resumeJisheng Zhang
pca954x may be power lost during suspend, so after resume we also suffer the issue fixed by commit cd823db8b1161ef0d756514d280715a576d65cc3, "pca954x power-on default is channel 0 connected. If multiple pca954x muxes are connected to the same physical I2C bus, the parent bus will see channel 0 devices behind both muxes by default." What's more, when resume bootloader may also operate the mux, so the the channel connected after that may not be the one driver thought. We fix this problem by putting the mux to disconnected state and clearing last_chan in the resume hook. 2014-08-01i2c: st: Update i2c timingsMaxime COQUELIN
The i2c timing values specified in the driver are the minimun values defined in the I2C specifications. The I2C specification does not specify any default or maximum values. Some I2C devices are out of spec, such as the HDMI link of the Toshiba 19AV600 TV, and might not work properly with minimum values. This patch adds a 10% margin on all the timings in both Normal and Fast modes. Trial and error method have been used to find the minimum margin necessary to have the out-of-spec device working, and a security margin has been added. When the wake-up is triggered by the PMIC RTC, the RTC driver is trying to read the PMIC interrupt status over I2C and fails because the I2C controller is not resumed yet. Add support for quickly loading a repetitive pattern into the dm-switch target. In the "set_regions_mappings" message, the user may now use "Rn,m" as one of the arguments. "n" and "m" are hexadecimal numbers. The "Rn,m" argument repeats the last "n" arguments in the following "m" slots. 2014-08-01dm crypt: use per-bio dataMikulas Patocka
Change dm-crypt so that it uses auxiliary data allocated with the bio. Dm-crypt requires two allocations per request - struct dm_crypt_io and struct ablkcipher_request (with other data appended to it). It previously only used mempool allocations. Some requests may require more dm_crypt_ios and ablkcipher_requests, however most requests need just one of each of these two structures to complete. This patch changes it so that the first dm_crypt_io and ablkcipher_request are allocated with the bio (using target per_bio_data_size option). 2014-08-01block: use kmalloc alignment for bio slabMikulas Patocka
Various subsystems can ask the bio subsystem to create a bio slab cache with some free space before the bio. This free space can be used for any purpose. Device mapper uses this per-bio-data feature to place some target-specific and device-mapper specific data before the bio, so that the target-specific data doesn't have to be allocated separately. This per-bio-data mechanism is used in place of kmalloc, so we need the allocated slab to have the same memory alignment as memory allocated with kmalloc. Change bio_find_or_create_slab() so that it uses ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN alignment when creating the slab cache. This is needed so that dm-crypt can use per-bio-data for encryption - the crypto subsystem assumes this data will have the same alignment as kmalloc'ed memory. Commit 7d48935e cleaned up the persistent-data's space-map-metadata limits by elevating them to dm-space-map-metadata.h. Update dm-cache-metadata to use these same limits. The calculation for DM_CACHE_METADATA_MAX_SECTORS didn't account for the sizeof the disk_bitmap_header. 2014-08-01dm cache: fix race affecting dirty block countAnssi Hannula
nr_dirty is updated without locking, causing it to drift so that it is non-zero (either a small positive integer, or a very large one when an underflow occurs) even when there are no actual dirty blocks. This was due to a race between the workqueue and map function accessing nr_dirty in parallel without proper protection. 2014-08-01drm/i2c: tda998x: allow re-use of tda998x support codeRussell King
Re-jig the TDA998x code so that we separate the functionality from the drm slave encoder implementation. In several places, this is pretty clearly the correct thing to do, because we can avoid repetitively having to convert from the drm_encoder to the TDA998x private structure, particularly with the driver internal functions. The main motivation behind this change is to allow the code to be re-used with a standard drm_encoder and drm_connector implementation based on the component helpers, rather than the slave_encoder system. The addition of this will be in the following patch. We keep the slave_encoder interface as there are existing users of this; we need to give them time to convert and test. 2014-08-01dm bufio: fully initialize shrinkerGreg Thelen
1d3d4437eae1 ("vmscan: per-node deferred work") added a flags field to struct shrinker assuming that all shrinkers were zero filled. The dm bufio shrinker is not zero filled, which leaves arbitrary kmalloc() data in flags. So far the only defined flags bit is SHRINKER_NUMA_AWARE. But there are proposed patches which add other bits to shrinker.flags (e.g. memcg awareness). Rather than simply initializing the shrinker, this patch uses kzalloc() when allocating the dm_bufio_client to ensure that the embedded shrinker and any other similar structures are zeroed. This fixes theoretical over aggressive shrinking of dm bufio objects. If the uninitialized dm_bufio_client.shrinker.flags contains SHRINKER_NUMA_AWARE then shrink_slab() would call the dm shrinker for each numa node rather than just once. This has been broken since 3.12. 2014-08-01netlabel: fix the horribly broken catmap functionsPaul Moore
The NetLabel secattr catmap functions, and the SELinux import/export glue routines, were broken in many horrible ways and the SELinux glue code fiddled with the NetLabel catmap structures in ways that we probably shouldn't allow. At some point this "worked", but that was likely due to a bit of dumb luck and sub-par testing (both inflicted by yours truly). This patch corrects these problems by basically gutting the code in favor of something less obtuse and restoring the NetLabel abstractions in the SELinux catmap glue code. Everything is working now, and if it decides to break itself in the future this code will be much easier to debug than the code it replaces. One noteworthy side effect of the changes is that it is no longer necessary to allocate a NetLabel catmap before calling one of the NetLabel APIs to set a bit in the catmap. 2014-08-01netlabel: fix a problem when setting bits below the previously lowest bitPaul Moore
The NetLabel category (catmap) functions have a problem in that they assume categories will be set in an increasing manner, e.g. the next category set will always be larger than the last. Unfortunately, this is not a valid assumption and could result in problems when attempting to set categories less than the startbit in the lowest catmap node. In some cases kernel panics and other nasties can result. This patch corrects the problem by checking for this and allocating a new catmap node instance and placing it at the front of the list. However, the loop, however invokes the random number generation function with zero bytes when the request size is a multiple of 2**16 bytes. The fix prevents zero bytes requests.
