2013-06-26[SCSI] sd: Update WRITE SAME heuristicsMartin K. Petersen
SATA drives located behind a SAS controller would incorrectly receive WRITE SAME commands. Tweak the heuristics so that: - If REPORT SUPPORTED OPERATION CODES is provided we will use that to choose between WRITE SAME(16), WRITE SAME(10) and disabled. This also fixes an issue with the old code which would issue WRITE SAME(10) despite the command not being whitelisted in REPORT SUPPORTED OPERATION CODES. - If REPORT SUPPORTED OPERATION CODES is not provided we will fall back to WRITE SAME(10) unless the device has an ATA Information VPD page. The assumption is that a SATL which is smart enough to implement WRITE SAME would also provide REPORT SUPPORTED OPERATION CODES. To facilitate the new heuristics scsi_report_opcode() has been modified to so we can distinguish between "operation not supported" and "RSOC not supported". Reported-by: H. 2013-06-26[CIFS] Do not set DFS flag on SMB2 openSteve French
If we would set SMB2_FLAGS_DFS_OPERATIONS on open we also would have to pass the path on the Open SMB prefixed by \\server\share. Not sure when we would need to do the augmented path (if ever) and setting this flag breaks the SMB2 open operation since it is illegal to send an empty path name (without \\server\share prefix) when the DFS flag is set in the SMB open header. 2013-06-26cifs: try to handle the MUST SecurityFlags sanelyJeff Layton
The cifs.ko SecurityFlags interface wins my award for worst-designed interface ever, but we're sort of stuck with it since it's documented and people do use it (even if it doesn't work correctly). Case in point -- you can specify multiple sets of "MUST" flags. It makes absolutely no sense, but you can do it. What should the effect be in such a case? No one knows or seems to have considered this so far, so let's define it now. If you try to specify multiple MUST flags, clear any other MAY or MUST bits except for the ones that involve signing. According to MS-SMB2 section 2.2.4: if no blob, client picks default which for us will be ses->sectype = RawNTLMSSP; but for time being this is also our only auth choice so doesn't matter as long as we include this fix (which does not treat the empty SecurityBuffer as an error as the code had been doing). 2013-06-26revalidate directories instiantiated via FIND_* in order to handle DFS referralsJeff Layton
We've had a long-standing problem with DFS referral points. CIFS servers generally try to make them look like directories in FIND_FIRST/NEXT responses. When you go to try to do a FIND_FIRST on them though, the server will then (correctly) return STATUS_PATH_NOT_COVERED. Mostly this manifests as spurious EREMOTE errors back to userland. This patch attempts to fix this by marking directories that are discovered via FIND_FIRST/NEXT for revaldiation. When the lookup code runs across them again, we'll reissue a QPathInfo against them and that will make it chase the referral properly. There is some performance penalty involved here and no I haven't measured it -- it'll be highly dependent upon the workload and contents of the mounted share. This worker function is needed to send SMB2 fsctl (and ioctl) requests including: validating negotiation info (secure negotiate) querying the servers network interfaces copy offload (refcopy) Followon patches for the above three will use this. This patch also does general validation of the response. In the future, as David Disseldorp notes, for the copychunk ioctl case, we will want to enhance the response processing to allow returning the chunk request limits to the caller (even though the server returns an error, in that case we would return data that the caller could use - see 2.2.32.1). In SMB2.1 and later the server will usually set the large MTU flag, and we need to charge at least one credit, if server says that since it supports multicredit. Windows seems to let us get away with putting a zero there, but they confirmed that it is wrong and the spec says to put one there (if the request is under 64K and the CAP_LARGE_MTU was returned during protocol negotiation by the server. 2013-06-26net: fix kernel deadlock with interface rename and netdev name retrieval.Nicolas Schichan
When the kernel (compiled with CONFIG_PREEMPT=n) is performing the rename of a network interface, it can end up waiting for a workqueue to complete. If userland is able to invoke a SIOCGIFNAME ioctl or a SO_BINDTODEVICE getsockopt in between, the kernel will deadlock due to the fact that read_secklock_begin() will spin forever waiting for the writer process (the one doing the interface rename) to update the devnet_rename_seq sequence. This patch fixes the problem by adding a helper (netdev_get_name()) and using it in the code handling the SIOCGIFNAME ioctl and SO_BINDTODEVICE setsockopt. The netdev_get_name() helper uses raw_seqcount_begin() to avoid spinning forever, waiting for devnet_rename_seq->sequence to become even. cond_resched() is used in the contended case, before retrying the access to give the writer process a chance to finish. The use of raw_seqcount_begin() will incur some unneeded work in the reader process in the contended case, but this is better than deadlocking the system. Root cause: When kernel crashes, On brocade 815/825 adapters, bfa IOC state machine and FW doesn't get a notification and hence are not cleanly shutdown. So registers holding driver/IOC state information are not reset back to valid disabled/parking values. This causes subsequent driver initialization to fail during kdump kernel boot. Fix description: during the initialization of first PCI function, reset corresponding register when unclean shutown is detect by reading chip registers. 2013-06-26perf/x86: Fix shared register mutual exclusion enforcementStephane Eranian
This patch fixes a problem with the shared registers mutual exclusion code and incremental event scheduling by the generic perf_event code. There was a bug whereby the mutual exclusion on the shared registers was not enforced because of incremental scheduling abort due to event constraints. As an example on Intel Nehalem, consider the following events: group1= L1D_CACHE_LD:E_STATE,OFFCORE_RESPONSE_0:PF_RFO,L1D_CACHE_LD:I_STATE group2= L1D_CACHE_LD:I_STATE The L1D_CACHE_LD event can only be measured by 2 counters. Yet, there are 3 instances here. The first group can be scheduled and is committed. Then, the generic code tries to schedule group2 and this fails (because there is no more counter to support the 3rd instance of L1D_CACHE_LD). But in x86_schedule_events() error path, put_event_contraints() is invoked on ALL the events and not just the ones that just failed. That causes the "lock" on the shared offcore_response MSR to be released. Yet the first group is actually scheduled and is exposed to reprogramming of that shared msr by the sibling HT thread. In other words, there is no guarantee on what is measured. This patch fixes the problem by tagging committed events with the PERF_X86_EVENT_COMMITTED tag. In the error path of x86_schedule_events(), only the events NOT tagged have their constraint released. The tag is eventually removed when the event in descheduled. There are three users of adapter interrupts: AP, QDIO and PCI. Each registers a single adapter interrupt with independent ISCs. Define a "struct airq" with the interrupt handler, a pointer and a mask for the local summary indicator and the ISC for the adapter interrupt source. Convert the indicator array with its fixed number of adapter interrupt sources per ISE to an array of hlists. Copy the interrupt parameters from the lowcore to the pt_regs structure in entry[64].S and reduce the arguments of the low level interrupt handler to the pt_regs pointer only. In addition move the test-pending-interrupt loop from do_IRQ to entry[64].S to make sure that interrupt information is always delivered via pt_regs.
