2016-02-24libceph: don't bail early from try_read() when skipping a messageIlya Dryomov
The contract between try_read() and try_write() is that when called each processes as much data as possible. When instructed by osd_client to skip a message, try_read() is violating this contract by returning after receiving and discarding a single message instead of checking for more. try_write() then gets a chance to write out more requests, generating more replies/skips for try_read() to handle, forcing the messenger into a starvation loop. 2016-02-24thp: call pmdp_invalidate() with correct virtual addressKirill A. Shutemov
Sebastian Ott and Gerald Schaefer reported random crashes on s390. It was bisected to my THP refcounting patchset. The problem is that pmdp_invalidated() called with wrong virtual address. It got offset up by HPAGE_PMD_SIZE by loop over ptes. The solution is to introduce new variable to be used in loop and don't touch 'haddr'. Signed-off-by: Kirill A. 2016-02-24ALSA: oxfw: discontinue MIDI substream for scs1x at transaction failureTakashi Sakamoto
With a previous commit, ALSA oxfw driver retries transferring MIDI messages at transaction failure for scs1x. On the other hand, there're fatal transaction error. Then, no MIDI messages reach to the unit anymore. In this case, MIDI substream should be terminated. This commit stops MIDI transmission after the fatal error occurs. Unfortunately, unlike ALSA PCM functionality, ALSA rawmidi core has no feature to discontinue MIDI substream runtime in kernel side, thus this commit just stops MIDI transmission without notifying it to userspace. 2016-02-24ALSA: oxfw: retry MIDI transferring for scs1x at transaction failureTakashi Sakamoto
Currently, ALSA oxfw driver has a TODO to retry MIDI transferring at transaction failure. This commit achieves it. Current implementation uses snd_rawmidi_transmit() to transfer messages, thus the target MIDI messages are not in buffer when transaction failure is detected. Although we cannot use a pair of snd_rawmidi_transmit_peek() and snd_ramwidi_transmit_ack(), the messages are still in scs1x specific structure and the data is available for retries. This commit adds a member to the structure for the length of buffered messages, and uses the value again at retries. 2016-02-24tracing: Fix showing function event in available_eventsSteven Rostedt (Red Hat)
The ftrace:function event is only displayed for parsing the function tracer data. It is not used to enable function tracing, and does not include an "enable" file in its event directory. Originally, this event was kept separate from other events because it did not have a ->reg parameter. But perf added a "reg" parameter for its use which caused issues, because it made the event available to functions where it was not compatible for. Commit 9b63776fa3ca9 "tracing: Do not enable function event with enable" added a TRACE_EVENT_FL_IGNORE_ENABLE flag that prevented the function event from being enabled by normal trace events. But this commit missed keeping the function event from being displayed by the "available_events" directory, which is used to show what events can be enabled by set_event. 2016-02-24KVM: x86: fix conversion of addresses to linear in 32-bit protected modePaolo Bonzini
Commit e8dd2d2d641c ("Silence compiler warning in arch/x86/kvm/emulate.c", 2015-09-06) broke boot of the Hurd. The bug is that the "default:" case actually could modify "la", but after the patch this change is not reflected in *linear. The bug is visible whenever a non-zero segment base causes the linear address to wrap around the 4GB mark. On an MMIO access, we always copy the on-stack buffer info the shared "run" structure, even if this is a read access. This ends up leaking up to 8 bytes of uninitialized memory into userspace, depending on the size of the access. An obvious fix for this one is to only perform the copy if this is an actual write. Both before and after 5f310f739b4c ("x86/entry/32: Re-implement SYSENTER using the new C path"), we relied on a uaccess very early in the SYSENTER path to clear AC. After that change, though, we can potentially make it all the way into C code with AC set, which enlarges the attack surface for SMAP bypass by doing SYSENTER with AC set. Strengthen the SMAP protection by addding the missing ASM_CLAC right at the beginning. ARConnect/MCIP IPI sending has a retry-wait loop in case caller had not seen a previous such interrupt. Turns out that it is not needed at all. Linux cross core calling allows coalescing multiple IPIs to same receiver - it is fine as long as there is one. This logic is built into upper layer already, at a higher level of abstraction. ipi_send_msg_one() sets the actual msg payload, but it only calls MCIP IPI sending if msg holder was empty (using atomic-set-new-and-get-old construct). Thus it is unlikely that the retry-wait looping was ever getting exercised at all. 2016-02-24ARCv2: SMP: Emulate IPI to self using software triggered interruptVineet Gupta
ARConnect/MCIP Inter-Core-Interrupt module can't send interrupt to local core. So use core intc capability to trigger software interrupt to self, using an unsued IRQ #21. This showed up as csd deadlock with LTP trace_sched on a dual core system. This test acts as scheduler fuzzer, triggering all sorts of schedulting activity. Trouble starts with IPI to self, which doesn't get delivered (effectively lost due to H/w capability), but the msg intended to be sent remain enqueued in per-cpu @ipi_data. All subsequent IPIs to this core from other cores get elided due to the IPI coalescing optimization in ipi_send_msg_one() where a pending msg implies an IPI already sent and assumes other core is yet to ack it. After the elided IPI, other core simply goes into csd_lock_wait() but never comes out as this core never sees the interrupt. 2016-02-24ASoC: arizona: Make logging of FLL calculations clearerRichard Fitzgerald
The debug logging of FLL calculations was confusing. Values were printed in hex without indicating this by a leading 0x, and despite these normally being required in decimal. Also where the register value isn't the actual value (it s a power-of-two or 0 means 1, 1 means 2, ...) it was unclear whether the actual or register value was shown. This patch changes the log print so that all mathematical values are shown in decimal, all register values are shown in hex with a 0x prefix, and where the register value isn't the actual integer value the decimal integer value is shown in () after the hex register value.
