2013-04-29localmodconfig: Process source kconfig files as they are foundSteven Rostedt
A bug was reported that caused localmodconfig to not keep all the dependencies of ATH9K. This was caused by the kconfig file: In drivers/net/wireless/ath/Kconfig: --- if ATH_CARDS config ATH_DEBUG bool "Atheros wireless debugging" ---help--- Say Y, if you want to debug atheros wireless drivers. Right now only ath9k makes use of this. source "drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath5k/Kconfig" source "drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath9k/Kconfig" source "drivers/net/wireless/ath/carl9170/Kconfig" source "drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath6kl/Kconfig" source "drivers/net/wireless/ath/ar5523/Kconfig" source "drivers/net/wireless/ath/wil6210/Kconfig" endif --- The current way kconfig works, it processes new source files after the first file is completed. It creates an array of new source config files and when the one file is finished, it continues with the next file. Unfortunately, this means that it loses the fact that the source file is within an "if" statement, and this means that each of these source file's configs will not have the proper dependencies set. As ATH9K requires ATH_CARDS set, the localmodconfig did not see that dependency, and did not enable ATH_CARDS. When the oldconfig was run, it forced ATH9K to be disabled. 2013-04-29rtl8187se: Don't use create_proc_read_entry()David Howells
Don't use create_proc_read_entry() as that is deprecated, but rather use proc_create_data() and seq_file instead. Whilst we're at it, reduce the number of show functions where we can share them. Question: Do any of the registers read by proc_get_registers() have side effects upon reading? If so, locking will be required. 2013-04-29rtl8192u: Don't use create_proc_read_entry()David Howells
Don't use create_proc_read_entry() as that is deprecated, but rather use proc_create_data() and seq_file instead. Whilst we're at it, reduce the number of show functions where we can share them. Note: proc_get_stats_ap() should probably use seq_file iteration rather than list_for_each_entry(). Further note: There appears to be a lot of locking missing in this file to defend against concurrent access by the driver doing normal operations. Notably, ieee->network_list traversal and RWCAM/RCAMO command/response access. Further, do any of the registers read have side effects upon reading? 2013-04-29powerpc/fsl-pci: don't unmap the PCI SoC controller registers in setup_pci_atmuKevin Hao
In patch 34642bbb (powerpc/fsl-pci: Keep PCI SoC controller registers in pci_controller) we choose to keep the map of the PCI SoC controller registers. But we missed to delete the unmap in setup_pci_atmu function. This will cause the following call trace once we access the PCI SoC controller registers later. 2013-04-29cxgb4vf: Support CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATEs encapsulated in a CPL_FW4_MSGVipul Pandya
Newer firmware can post CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE message encapsulated in a CPL_FW4_MSG as follows flit0 rss_header (if DropRSS == 0 in IQ context) flit1 CPL_FW4_MSG cpl flit2 rss_header w/opcode CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE flit3 CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE cpl So FW4_MSG CPLs with a newly created type of FW_TYPE_RSSCPL have the CPL_SGE_EGR_UPDATE CPL message in flit 2 of the FW4_MSG. When a config for a module is added to the list to save in the final config file, add a print to show what dependencies are used. 2013-04-29tcp: reset timer after any SYNACK retransmitYuchung Cheng
Linux immediately returns SYNACK on (spurious) SYN retransmits, but keeps the SYNACK timer running independently. Thus the timer may fire right after the SYNACK retransmit and causes a SYN-SYNACK cross-fire burst. Adopt the fast retransmit/recovery idea in established state by re-arming the SYNACK timer after the fast (SYNACK) retransmit. The timer may fire late up to 500ms due to the current SYNACK timer wheel, but it's OK to be conservative when network is congested. Eric's new listener design should address this issue. 2013-04-29net: defer net_secret[] initializationEric Dumazet
Instead of feeding net_secret[] at boot time, defer the init at the point first socket is created. This permits some platforms to use better entropy sources than the ones available at boot time. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sameo/nfc-next Samuel Ortiz <sameo@linux.intel.com> says: "With this one we have: - One patch for moving the LLCP code into net/nfc. It fixes a build annoyance reported by Dave Miller caused by the fact that the LLCP code object targets are not in the same directory as the Makefile trying to build them is. It prevents us from doing e.g. make net/nfc/llcp/sock.o Moving the LLCP code into net/nfc and not making it optional anymore makes sense as LLCP is a fundamental piece of the NFC specifications and thus should be in the core NFC directory. - One patch that fixes the missing dependency against RFKILL. Without it NFC fails to properly build when it's builtin and CONFIG_RFKILL=m." Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
