2012-03-10vfs: Correctly set the dir i_mutex lockdep classTyler Hicks
9a7aa12f3911853a introduced additional logic around setting the i_mutex lockdep class for directory inodes. The idea was that some filesystems may want their own special lockdep class for different directory inodes and calling unlock_new_inode() should not clobber one of those special classes. I believe that the added conditional, around the *negated* return value of lockdep_match_class(), caused directory inodes to be placed in the wrong lockdep class. inode_init_always() sets the i_mutex lockdep class with i_mutex_key for all inodes. If the filesystem did not change the class during inode initialization, then the conditional mentioned above was false and the directory inode was incorrectly left in the non-directory lockdep class. If the filesystem did set a special lockdep class, then the conditional mentioned above was true and that class was clobbered with i_mutex_dir_key. This patch removes the negation from the conditional so that the i_mutex lockdep class is properly set for directory inodes. Special classes are preserved and directory inodes with unmodified classes are set with i_mutex_dir_key. 2012-03-10xen/enlighten: Expose MWAIT and MWAIT_LEAF if hypervisor OKs it.Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk
For the hypervisor to take advantage of the MWAIT support it needs to extract from the ACPI _CST the register address. But the hypervisor does not have the support to parse DSDT so it relies on the initial domain (dom0) to parse the ACPI Power Management information and push it up to the hypervisor. The pushing of the data is done by the processor_harveset_xen module which parses the information that the ACPI parser has graciously exposed in 'struct acpi_processor'. For the ACPI parser to also expose the Cx states for MWAIT, we need to expose the MWAIT capability (leaf 1). Furthermore we also need to expose the MWAIT_LEAF capability (leaf 5) for cstate.c to properly function. The hypervisor could expose these flags when it traps the XEN_EMULATE_PREFIX operations, but it can't do it since it needs to be backwards compatible. Instead we choose to use the native CPUID to figure out if the MWAIT capability exists and use the XEN_SET_PDC query hypercall to figure out if the hypervisor wants us to expose the MWAIT_LEAF capability or not. Note: The XEN_SET_PDC query was implemented in c/s 23783: "ACPI: add _PDC input override mechanism". With this in place, instead of C3 ACPI IOPORT 415 we get now C3:ACPI FFH INTEL MWAIT 0x20 Note: The cpu_idle which would be calling the mwait variants for idling never gets set b/c we set the default pm_idle to be the hypercall variant. 2012-03-10xen/setup/pm/acpi: Remove the call to boot_option_idle_override.Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk
We needed that call in the past to force the kernel to use default_idle (which called safe_halt, which called xen_safe_halt). But set_pm_idle_to_default() does now that, so there is no need to use this boot option operand. Signed-off-by: Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk <konrad.wilk@oracle.com>
2012-03-10firewire: ohci: move runtime debug facility out of #ifdefStefan Richter
CONFIG_FIREWIRE_OHCI_DEBUG could have been exposed to kernel tweakers if CONFIG_EXPERT was set. But in hindsight, this stuff is far too useful to omit it. So get rid of two #else branches that are only going to bitrot otherwise. Signed-off-by: Stefan Richter <stefanr@s5r6.in-berlin.de>
2012-03-10firewire: tone down some diagnostic log messagesStefan Richter
The "skipped bus generations" message was added together with the respective fw_device retaining/ reviving code in order to see how it all works out. It did well, so don't spam the log anymore. The "register access failure" situation still needs an actual handler. But at this point it makes less sense to ask folks to send mails about it. We now have a pretty good picture of what controllers emit this and when: Texas Instruments PCIxx21 FireWire + CardBus + flash memory card controller: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=608544 O2 Micro FireWire + flash memory card controller: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/801719 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/881688 http://marc.info/?l=linux1394-devel&m=132309283531423 http://marc.info/?l=linux1394-devel&m=132368567907469 http://marc.info/?l=linux1394-devel&m=132516165727468 http://marc.info/?l=linux1394-devel&m=133006486927699 Pinnacle Movieboard: commit 7f7e37115a8b6724f26d0637a04e1d35e3c59717 http://marc.info/?l=linux1394-devel&m=130714243325962 Signed-off-by: Stefan Richter <stefanr@s5r6.in-berlin.de>
2012-03-10firewire: sbp2: replace a GFP_ATOMIC allocationStefan Richter
sbp2_send_management_orb() is called by sbp2_login, sbp2_reconnect, and sbp2_remove, all which are able to sleep during memory allocations. Actually, sbp2_send_management_orb() itself is a sleeping function. Login and remove could allocate with GFP_KERNEL but reconnect needs GFP_NOIO to ensure progress in low memory situations. 2012-03-10intel, gma500, lvds: Fix use after free and mem leak in psb_intel_lvds_init()Jesper Juhl
In psb_intel_lvds_init(), if we fail to allocate memory for 'psb_intel_connector' we free the memory we previously allocated for 'psb_intel_encoder', but we then proceed to use that free'd pointer when we do 'psb_intel_encoder->dev_priv = lvds_priv;'. We may also leak the memory we allocated for 'psb_intel_encoder' if we 'goto failed_connector;' and the variable goes out of scope. While I was there anyway, I also removed the pointless 'if (psb_intel_connector)' before freeing it at the 'failed_connector:' label - kfree() deals gracefully with NULL pointers, so it is not needed.
