2016-07-07ipvs: fix bind to link-local mcast IPv6 address in backupQuentin Armitage
When using HEAD from https://git.kernel.org/cgit/utils/kernel/ipvsadm/ipvsadm.git/, the command: ipvsadm --start-daemon backup --mcast-interface eth0.60 \ --mcast-group ff02::1:81 fails with the error message: Argument list too long whereas both: ipvsadm --start-daemon master --mcast-interface eth0.60 \ --mcast-group ff02::1:81 and: ipvsadm --start-daemon backup --mcast-interface eth0.60 \ --mcast-group 224.0.0.81 are successful. The error message "Argument list too long" isn't helpful. The error occurs because an IPv6 address is given in backup mode. The error is in make_receive_sock() in net/netfilter/ipvs/ip_vs_sync.c, since it fails to set the interface on the address or the socket before calling inet6_bind() (via sock->ops->bind), where the test 'if (!sk->sk_bound_dev_if)' failed. Setting sock->sk->sk_bound_dev_if on the socket before calling inet6_bind() resolves the issue. 2016-07-07drm/i915: Check for invalid cloning earlier during modesetVille Syrjälä
Move the encoder cloning check to happen earlier in the modeset. The main benefit will be that the debug output from a failed modeset will be less confusing as output_types can not indicate an invalid configuration during the later computation stages. For instance, what happened to me was kms_setmode was attempting one of its invalid cloning checks during which it asked for DP+VGA cloning on HSW. In this case the DP .compute_config() was executed after the FDI .compute_config() leaving the DP link clock (1.62 in this case) in port_clock, and then later the FDI BW computation tried to use that as the FDI link clock (which should always be 2.7). 1.62 x 2 wasn't enough for the mode it was trying to use, and so it ended up rejecting the modeset, not because of an invalid cloning configuration, but because of supposedly running out of FDI bandwidth. Took me a while to figure out what had actually happened. 2016-07-07perf/core: Fix pmu::filter_match for SW-led groupsMark Rutland
The following commit: 66eb579e66ec ("perf: allow for PMU-specific event filtering") added the pmu::filter_match() callback. This was intended to avoid HW constraints on events from resulting in extremely pessimistic scheduling. However, pmu::filter_match() is only called for the leader of each event group. When the leader is a SW event, we do not filter the groups, and may fail at pmu::add() time, and when this happens we'll give up on scheduling any event groups later in the list until they are rotated ahead of the failing group. This can result in extremely sub-optimal event scheduling behaviour, e.g. if running the following on a big.LITTLE platform: $ taskset -c 0 ./perf stat \ -e 'a57{context-switches,armv8_cortex_a57/config=0x11/}' \ -e 'a53{context-switches,armv8_cortex_a53/config=0x11/}' \ ls <not counted> context-switches (0.00%) <not counted> armv8_cortex_a57/config=0x11/ (0.00%) 24 context-switches (37.36%) 57589154 armv8_cortex_a53/config=0x11/ (37.36%) Here the 'a53' event group was always eligible to be scheduled, but the 'a57' group never eligible to be scheduled, as the task was always affine to a Cortex-A53 CPU. The SW (group leader) event in the 'a57' group was eligible, but the HW event failed at pmu::add() time, resulting in ctx_flexible_sched_in giving up on scheduling further groups with HW events. One way of avoiding this is to check pmu::filter_match() on siblings as well as the group leader. If any of these fail their pmu::filter_match() call, we must skip the entire group before attempting to add any events.
