Since cros_ec_sensorhub is shutting down the FIFO when the device suspends, no need to slow down the EC sampling period rate. Events are timestamped in EC time space, their timestamps need to be converted in host time space. The assumption is the time delta between when the interrupt is sent by the EC and when it is receive by the host is a [small] constant. This is not always true, even with hard-wired interrupt. To mitigate worst offenders, add a median filter to weed out bigger than expected delays. 2020-03-28PCI/ASPM: Reduce severity of common clock config messageChris Packham
When the UEFI/BIOS or bootloader has not initialised a PCIe device we would get the following message: kern.warning: pci 0000:00:01.0: ASPM: current common clock configuration is broken, reconfiguring "warning" and "broken" are slightly misleading. On an embedded system it is quite possible for the bootloader to avoid configuring PCIe devices if they are not needed. Downgrade the message to pci_info() and change "broken" to "inconsistent" since we fix up the inconsistency in the code immediately following the message (and emit an error if that fails). The AER interfaces to clear error status registers were a confusing mess: - pci_cleanup_aer_uncorrect_error_status() cleared non-fatal errors from the Uncorrectable Error Status register. - pci_aer_clear_fatal_status() cleared fatal errors from the Uncorrectable Error Status register. - pci_cleanup_aer_error_status_regs() cleared the Root Error Status register (for Root Ports), the Uncorrectable Error Status register, and the Correctable Error Status register. 2020-03-28PCI/DPC: Add Error Disconnect Recover (EDR) supportKuppuswamy Sathyanarayanan
Error Disconnect Recover (EDR) is a feature that allows ACPI firmware to notify OSPM that a device has been disconnected due to an error condition (ACPI v6.3, sec 5.6.6). OSPM advertises its support for EDR on PCI devices via _OSC (see [1], sec 4.5.1, table 4-4). The OSPM EDR notify handler should invalidate software state associated with disconnected devices and may attempt to recover them. OSPM communicates the status of recovery to the firmware via _OST (sec 6.3.5.2). For PCIe, firmware may use Downstream Port Containment (DPC) to support EDR. Per [1], sec 4.5.1, table 4-6, even if firmware has retained control of DPC, OSPM may read/write DPC control and status registers during the EDR notification processing window, i.e., from the time it receives an EDR notification until it clears the DPC Trigger Status. Note that per [1], sec 4.5.1 and 4.5.2.4, 1. If the OS supports EDR, it should advertise that to firmware by setting OSC_PCI_EDR_SUPPORT in _OSC Support. 2. If the OS sets OSC_PCI_EXPRESS_DPC_CONTROL in _OSC Control to request control of the DPC capability, it must also set OSC_PCI_EDR_SUPPORT in _OSC Support. If firmware controls DPC, it is generally responsible for managing the DPC capability and events, and the OS should not access the DPC capability. However, if firmware controls DPC and both the OS and the platform support Error Disconnect Recover (EDR) notifications, the OS EDR notify handler is responsible for recovery, and the notify handler may read/write the DPC capability until it clears the DPC Trigger Status bit. 2020-03-28PCI/AER: Add pci_aer_raw_clear_status() to unconditionally clear Error StatusKuppuswamy Sathyanarayanan
Per the SFI _OSC and DPC Updates ECN [1] implementation note flowchart, the OS seems to be expected to clear AER status even if it doesn't have ownership of the AER capability. Unlike the DPC capability, where a DPC ECN [2] specifies a window when the OS is allowed to access DPC registers even if it doesn't have ownership, there is no clear model for AER. Add pci_aer_raw_clear_status() to clear the AER error status registers unconditionally. This is intended for use only by the EDR path (see [2]). As per the DPC Enhancements ECN [1], sec 4.5.1, table 4-4, if the OS supports Error Disconnect Recover (EDR), it must invalidate the software state associated with child devices of the port without attempting to access the child device hardware. In addition, if the OS supports DPC, it must attempt to recover the child devices if the port implements the DPC Capability. If the OS continues operation, the OS must inform the firmware of the status of the recovery operation via the _OST method. Return the result of pcie_do_recovery() so we can report it to firmware via _OST. Previously we passed the PCIe service type parameter to pcie_do_recovery(), where reset_link() looked up the underlying pci_port_service_driver and its .reset_link() function pointer. Instead of using this roundabout way, we can just pass the driver-specific .reset_link() callback function when calling pcie_do_recovery() function. This allows us to call pcie_do_recovery() from code that is not a PCIe port service driver, e.g., Error Disconnect Recover (EDR) support. Remove pcie_port_find_service() and pcie_port_service_driver.reset_link since they are now unused. Commit bdb5ac85777d ("PCI/ERR: Handle fatal error recovery") uses reset_link() to recover from fatal errors. But during fatal error recovery, if the initial value of error status is PCI_ERS_RESULT_DISCONNECT or PCI_ERS_RESULT_NO_AER_DRIVER then even after successful recovery (using reset_link()) pcie_do_recovery() will report the recovery result as failure. Update the status of error after reset_link(). You can reproduce this issue by triggering a SW DPC using "DPC Software Trigger" bit in "DPC Control Register". 2020-03-28xfs: return locked status of inode buffer on xfsaild pushBrian Foster
If the inode buffer backing a particular inode is locked, xfs_iflush() returns -EAGAIN and xfs_inode_item_push() skips the inode. It still returns success to xfsaild, however, which bypasses the xfsaild backoff heuristic. Update xfs_inode_item_push() to return locked status if the inode buffer couldn't be locked. 2020-03-28xfs: trylock underlying buffer on dquot flushBrian Foster
A dquot flush currently blocks on the buffer lock for the underlying dquot buffer. In turn, this causes xfsaild to block rather than continue processing other items in the meantime. Update xfs_qm_dqflush() to trylock the buffer, similar to how inode buffers are handled, and return -EAGAIN if the lock fails. Fix up any callers that don't currently handle the error properly. Fix a sharp edge in xsk_umem__create and xsk_socket__create. Almost all of the members of the ring buffer structs are initialized, but the "cached_xxx" variables are not all initialized. The caller is required to zero them. This is needlessly dangerous. The results if you don't do it can be very bad. For example, they can cause xsk_prod_nb_free and xsk_cons_nb_avail to return values greater than the size of the queue. xsk_ring_cons__peek can return an index that does not refer to an item that has been queued. I have confirmed that without this change, my program misbehaves unless I memset the ring buffers to zero before calling the function. Afterwards, my program works without (or with) the memset. If the FLUSH_SYNC flag is set, nfs_initiate_pgio() will currently wait for completion, and then return the status of the I/O operation. What we actually want to report in nfs_pageio_doio() is whether or not the RPC call was launched successfully, whereas actual I/O status is intended handled in the reply callbacks. 2020-03-28fs/buffer: Make BH_Uptodate_Lock bit_spin_lock a regular spinlock_tThomas Gleixner
Bit spinlocks are problematic if PREEMPT_RT is enabled, because they disable preemption, which is undesired for latency reasons and breaks when regular spinlocks are taken within the bit_spinlock locked region because regular spinlocks are converted to 'sleeping spinlocks' on RT. PREEMPT_RT replaced the bit spinlocks with regular spinlocks to avoid this problem. The replacement was done conditionaly at compile time, but Christoph requested to do an unconditional conversion. Jan suggested to move the spinlock into a existing padding hole which avoids a size increase of struct buffer_head on production kernels. As a benefit the lock gains lockdep coverage. 2020-03-28s390/mm: remove page table downgrade supportAlexander Gordeev
This update consolidates page table handling code. Because there are hardly any 31-bit binaries left we do not need to optimize for that. No extra efforts are needed to ensure that a compat task does not map anything above 2GB. The TASK_SIZE limit for 31-bit tasks is 2GB already and the generic code does check that a resulting map address would not surpass that limit. In the CONFIG_X86_VERBOSE_BOOTUP=Y case, the debug_puthex() macro just turns into __puthex(), which takes 'unsigned long' as parameter.
