Note conflict: Chuck's patches modified (and made static)
gss_mech_get_by_OID, which is still needed by gss-proxy patches.
The conflict resolution is a bit minimal; we may want some more cleanup.

Since we now have default implementations for init_time and init_irq,
the init_machine callback is the only one that is not yet optional,
but since simple DT based platforms all have the same
of_platform_populate function call in there, we can consolidate them
as well, and then actually boot with a completely empty machine_desc.
Unofortunately we cannot just default to an empty init_machine: We
cannot call of_platform_populate before init_machine because that
does not work in case of auxdata, and we cannot call it after
init_machine either because the machine might need to run code
after adding the devices.
To take the final step, this adds support for booting without defining
any machine_desc whatsoever.
For the case that CONFIG_MULTIPLATFORM is enabled, it adds a
global machine descriptor that never matches any machine but is
used as a fallback if nothing else matches. We assume that without
CONFIG_MULTIPLATFORM, we only want to boot on the systems that the kernel
is built for, so we still retain the build-time warning for missing
machine descriptors and the run-time warning when the platform does not
match in that case.
In the case that we run on a multiplatform kernel and the machine
provides a fully populated device tree, we attempt to keep booting,
hoping that no machine specific callbacks are necessary.
Finally, this also removes the misguided "select ARCH_VEXPRESS" that
was only added to avoid a build error for allnoconfig kernels.

The reg property in the pci bridge device node is used to bind this
device node to the pci bridge device. Then all the pci devices under
this bridge could use the interrupt maps defined in this device node
to do the irq translation. So if this property is missed, the pci
traditional irq mechanism will not work.

Delete create_proc_read_entry() as it no longer has any users.
Also delete read_proc_t, write_proc_t, the read_proc member of the
proc_dir_entry struct and the support functions that use them. This saves a
pointer for every PDE allocated.

A bug was reported that caused localmodconfig to not keep all the
dependencies of ATH9K. This was caused by the kconfig file:

The current way kconfig works, it processes new source files after the
first file is completed. It creates an array of new source config files
and when the one file is finished, it continues with the next file.
Unfortunately, this means that it loses the fact that the source file is
within an "if" statement, and this means that each of these source file's
configs will not have the proper dependencies set.
As ATH9K requires ATH_CARDS set, the localmodconfig did not see that
dependency, and did not enable ATH_CARDS. When the oldconfig was run, it
forced ATH9K to be disabled.

proc_create_data() and seq_file instead. Whilst we're at it, reduce the
number of show functions where we can share them.
Note: proc_get_stats_ap() should probably use seq_file iteration rather than
list_for_each_entry().
Further note: There appears to be a lot of locking missing in this file to
defend against concurrent access by the driver doing normal operations.
Notably, ieee->network_list traversal and RWCAM/RCAMO command/response access.
Further, do any of the registers read have side effects upon reading?

do add_timer() *before* unlocking dev->lock, or unpleasant things can
happen if misdn_del_timer() on another CPU finds the sucker, calls
del_timer_sync() (which does nothing, since we hadn't started the
timer yet) and frees it, just as we get around to add_timer()...

timer callback in timerdev.c both accesses struct mISDNtimer it's
called for *and* moves it to dev->expired. We need del_timer_sync(),
or we risk kfree() freeing it right under dev_expire_timer() *and*
dev->expired getting corrupted.

mind you, I'm not sure WTF would anybody _need_ that miscdevice
at all - no IO is possible for it, opening it only pins the module
down and is seriously racy, at that.
