Since v2.4 the capi driver used the following device nodes if
"middleware" support was enabled:
/dev/capi20
/dev/capi/0
/dev/capi/1
[...]
/dev/capi20 is a character device node. /dev/capi/0 (and up) are tty
device nodes (with a different major).
This device node (naming) scheme is not documented anywhere, as far as I
know. It was originally provided by the capifs pseudo filesystem (before
udev became available). It is required for example by the pppd
capiplugin. It was supported until a few years ago. But a number of
developments broke it:
- v2.6.6 (May 2004) renamed /dev/capi20 to /dev/capi and removed the
"/" from the name of capi's tty driver. The explanation of the patch
that did this included two examples of udev rules "to restore the old
namespace";
- either udev 154 (May 2010) or udev 179 (January 2012) stopped
allowing to rename device nodes, and thus the ability to have
/dev/capi20 appear instead of /dev/capi and /dev/capi/0 (and up)
instead of /dev/capi0 (and up);
- v3.0 (July 2011) also removed capifs. That disabled another method to
create the /dev/capi/0 (and up) device nodes.
So now users need to manually tweak their setup (eg, create /dev/capi/
and fill that with symlinks) to get things working. This is all rather
hacky and only discoverable by searching the web. Fix all this by
renaming /dev/capi back to /dev/capi20, and by setting the name of the
"capi_nc" tty driver to "capi!" so the tty device nodes appear as
/dev/capi/0 (and up).

The Kconfig symbol ISDN_DRV_AVMB1_VERBOSE_REASON is only used for
capi_info2str(). That function is only used in capidrv.c. So setting it
without setting ISDN_CAPI_CAPIDRV is pointless. Make it depend on
ISDN_CAPI_CAPIDRV, rename it to ISDN_CAPI_CAPIDRV_VERBOSE and put its
entry after ISDN_CAPI_CAPIDRV's entry.
Since this symbol seems to be primarily used for debugging, keep it off
by default. By now the last users of capidrv hopefully know all they
need to know about the reasons for disconnecting.

capi_info2str() is apparently meant to be of general utility. It is
actually only used in capidrv.c. So move it from capiutil.c to
capidrv.c and (obviously) stop exporting it.
And, since we're touching this, merge the two versions of this
function.

Call gso_make_checksum. This should have the benefit of using a
checksum that may have been previously computed for the packet.
This also adds NETIF_F_GSO_GRE_CSUM to differentiate devices that
offload GRE GSO with and without the GRE checksum offloaed.

When creating a GSO packet segment we may need to set more than
one checksum in the packet (for instance a TCP checksum and
UDP checksum for VXLAN encapsulation). To be efficient, we want
to do checksum calculation for any part of the packet at most once.
This patch adds csum_start offset to skb_gso_cb. This tracks the
starting offset for skb->csum which is initially set in skb_segment.
When a protocol needs to compute a transport checksum it calls
gso_make_checksum which computes the checksum value from the start
of transport header to csum_start and then adds in skb->csum to get
the full checksum. skb->csum and csum_start are then updated to reflect
the checksum of the resultant packet starting from the transport header.
This patch also adds a flag to skbuff, encap_hdr_csum, which is set
in *gso_segment fucntions to indicate that a tunnel protocol needs
checksum calculation

We pass actual buffer size to opal_validate_flash() OPAL API call
and in return it contains output buffer size.
Commit cc146d1d (Fix little endian issues) missed to set the size
param before making OPAL call. So firmware image validation fails.
This patch sets size variable before making OPAL call.

_GLOBAL_TOC()
__clear_user and copy_page load from the TOC and are also exported
to modules. This means we have to use _GLOBAL_TOC() so that we
create the global entry point that sets up the TOC.

powerpc sets a low SECTION_SIZE_BITS to accomodate small pseries
boxes. We default to 16MB memory blocks, and boxes with a lot
of memory end up with enormous numbers of sysfs memory nodes.
Set a more reasonable default for powernv of 256MB.

The pseries platform code unconditionally overrides
memory_block_size_bytes regardless of the running platform.
Create a ppc_md hook that so each platform can choose to
do what it wants.

When eeh is not enabled, and hotplug two pci devices on the same bus, eeh
related sysfs would be added twice for the first added pci device. Since the
eeh_dev is not created when eeh is not enabled.
This patch adds the check, if eeh is not enabled, eeh sysfs will not be
created.
After applying this patch, following warnings are reduced:

commit 8f9c0119d7ba (compat: fs: Generic compat_sys_sendfile
implementation) changed the PowerPC 64bit sendfile call from
sys_sendile64 to sys_sendfile.
Unfortunately this broke sendfile of lengths greater than 2G because
sys_sendfile caps at MAX_NON_LFS. Restore what we had previously which
fixes the bug.

This provides debugfs files to access the LPC bus on Power8
non-virtualized using the appropriate OPAL firmware calls.
The usage is simple: one file per space (IO, MEM and FW),
lseek to the address and read/write the data. IO and MEM always
generate series of byte accesses. FW can generate word and dword
accesses if aligned properly.
Based on an original patch from Rob Lippert and reworked.

We had a mix & match of flags used when creating legacy ports
depending on where we found them in the device-tree. Among others
we were missing UPF_SKIP_TEST for some kind of ISA ports which is
a problem as quite a few UARTs out there don't support the loopback
test (such as a lot of BMCs).
Let's pick the set of flags used by the SoC code and generalize it
which means autoconf, no loopback test, irq maybe shared and fixed
port.
Sending to stable as the lack of UPF_SKIP_TEST is breaking
serial on some machines so I want this back into distros

There are a couple of places where xmon is using %x to print values that
are unsigned long.
I found this out the hard way recently:
0:mon> p c000000000d0e7c8 c00000033dc90000 00000000a0000089 c000000000000000
return value is 0x96300500
Which is calling find_linux_pte_or_hugepte(), the result should be a
kernel pointer. After decoding the page tables by hand I discovered the
correct value was c000000396300500.
So fix up that case and a few others.
We also use a mix of 0x%x, %x and %u to print cpu numbers. So
standardise on 0x%x.

When running as a powernv "host" system on P8, we need to switch
the endianness of interrupt handlers. This does it via the appropriate
call to the OPAL firmware which may result in just switching HID0:HILE
but depending on the processor version might need to do a few more
things. This call must be done early before any other processor has
been brought out of firmware.

The default root is allocated and initialized at boot phase, so we
shouldn't destroy the default root when it's umounted, otherwise
it will lead to disaster.
Just try mount and then umount the default root, and the kernel will
crash immediately.

For atomic, it will be quite necessary to not need to care so much
about locking order. And 'state' gives us a convenient place to stash a
ww_ctx for any sort of update that needs to grab multiple crtc locks.
Because we will want to eventually make locking even more fine grained
(giving locks to planes, connectors, etc), split out drm_modeset_lock
and drm_modeset_acquire_ctx to track acquired locks.
Atomic will use this to keep track of which locks have been acquired
in a transaction.

CLONE_SIGHAND
1. Remove CLONE_KERNEL, it has no users and it is dangerous.
The (old) comment says "List of flags we want to share for kernel
threads" but this is not true, we do not want to share ->sighand by
default. This flag can only be used if the caller is sure that both
parent/child will never play with signals (say, allow_signal/etc).
2. Change rest_init() to clone kernel_init() without CLONE_SIGHAND.
In this case CLONE_SIGHAND does not really hurt, and it looks like
optimization because copy_sighand() can avoid kmem_cache_alloc().
But in fact this only adds the minor pessimization. kernel_init()
is going to exec the init process, and de_thread() will need to
unshare ->sighand and do kmem_cache_alloc(sighand_cachep) anyway,
but it needs to do more work and take tasklist_lock and siglock.

When a module is built into the kernel the module_init() function
becomes an initcall. Sometimes debugging through dynamic debug can
help, however, debugging built in kernel modules is typically done by
changing the .config, recompiling, and booting the new kernel in an
effort to determine exactly which module caused a problem.
This patchset can be useful stand-alone or combined with initcall_debug.
There are cases where some initcalls can hang the machine before the
console can be flushed, which can make initcall_debug output inaccurate.
Having the ability to skip initcalls can help further debugging of these
scenarios.
Usage: initcall_blacklist=<list of comma separated initcalls>

the log contains:

Pertially revert commit ea676e846a81 ("init/main.c: convert to
pr_foo()").
Unbeknownst to me, pr_debug() is different from the other pr_foo()
levels: pr_debug() is a no-op when DEBUG is not defined.
Happily, init/main.c does have a #define DEBUG so we didn't break
initcall_debug. But the functioning of initcall_debug should not be
dependent upon the presence of that #define DEBUG.

We attempt to search for compatible strings which use a variable token in
the documented name such as <chip> or <soc>. While this was attempted to
be handled, it's utterly broken.
The desired forms of matching are:
vendor,<chip>-*
vendor,name<part#>-*
For <chip>, lower case characters and numbers are permitted. For <part#>,
only numeric values are allowed.
With this change, the number of missing compatible strings reported in
arch/arm/boot/dts is reduced from 1071 to 960.
