2012-08-10usb: usb_wwan: resume/suspend can be called after port is goneBjørn Mork
We cannot unconditionally access any usb-serial port specific data from the interface driver. Both supending and resuming may happen after the port has been removed and portdata is freed. Treat ports with no portdata as closed ports to avoid a NULL pointer dereference on resume. No need to kill URBs for removed ports on suspend, avoiding the same NULL pointer reference there. 2012-08-10usb: serial: prevent suspend/resume from racing against probe/removeBjørn Mork
Some usb-serial drivers may access port data in their suspend/ resume functions. Such drivers must always verify the validity of the data as both suspend and resume can be called both before usb_serial_device_probe and after usb_serial_device_remove. But the port data may be invalidated during port_probe and port_remove. This patch prevents the race against suspend and resume by disabling suspend while port_probe or port_remove is running. 2012-08-10usb: usb_wwan: replace release and disconnect with a port_remove hookBjørn Mork
Doing port specific cleanup in the .port_remove hook is a lot simpler and safer than doing it in the USB driver .release or .disconnect methods. The removal of the port from the usb-serial bus will happen before the USB driver cleanup, so we must be careful about accessing port specific driver data from any USB driver functions. This problem surfaced after the commit 0998d0631 device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound which turned the previous unsafe access into a reliable NULL pointer dereference. 2012-08-10ath9k: fix interrupt storms on queued hardware resetFelix Fietkau
commit b74713d04effbacd3d126ce94cec18742187b6ce "ath9k: Handle fatal interrupts properly" introduced a race condition, where IRQs are being left enabled, however the irq handler returns IRQ_HANDLED while the reset is still queued without addressing the IRQ cause. This leads to an IRQ storm that prevents the system from even getting to the reset code. Fix this by disabling IRQs in the handler without touching intr_ref_cnt. This patch is validated on BeagleXM with NFS support over usb ethernet and USB mass storage and other device detection. 2012-08-10perf: Add ability to attach user stack dump to sampleJiri Olsa
Introducing PERF_SAMPLE_STACK_USER sample type bit to trigger the dump of the user level stack on sample. The size of the dump is specified by sample_stack_user value. Being able to dump parts of the user stack, starting from the stack pointer, will be useful to make a post mortem dwarf CFI based stack unwinding. Added HAVE_PERF_USER_STACK_DUMP config option to determine if the architecture provides user stack dump on perf event samples. This needs access to the user stack pointer which is not unified across architectures. Enabling this for x86 architecture. 2012-08-10perf: Add perf_output_skip function to skip bytes in sampleJiri Olsa
Introducing perf_output_skip function to be able to skip data within the perf ring buffer. When writing data into perf ring buffer we first reserve needed place in ring buffer and then copy the actual data. There's a possibility we won't be able to fill all the reserved size with data, so we need a way to skip the remaining bytes. This is going to be useful when storing the user stack dump, where we might end up with less data than we originally requested. 2012-08-10perf: Factor __output_copy to be usable with specific copy functionFrederic Weisbecker
Adding a generic way to use __output_copy function with specific copy function via DEFINE_PERF_OUTPUT_COPY macro. Using this to add new __output_copy_user function, that provides output copy from user pointers. 2012-08-10perf: Add ability to attach user level registers dump to sampleJiri Olsa
Introducing PERF_SAMPLE_REGS_USER sample type bit to trigger the dump of user level registers on sample. Registers we want to dump are specified by sample_regs_user bitmask. Only user level registers are dumped at the moment. Meaning the register values of the user space context as it was before the user entered the kernel for whatever reason (syscall, irq, exception, or a PMI happening in userspace). 2012-08-10perf: Unified API to record selective sets of arch registersJiri Olsa
This brings a new API to help the selective dump of registers on event sampling, and its implementation for x86 arch. Added HAVE_PERF_REGS config option to determine if the architecture provides perf registers ABI. The information about desired registers will be passed in u64 mask. It's up to the architecture to map the registers into the mask bits. For the x86 arch implementation, both 32 and 64 bit registers bits are defined within single enum to ensure 64 bit system can provide register dump for compat task if needed in the future. The return value of snd_hda_param_read() is -1 for an error, otherwise it's the supported power states of a codec. The supported power states is a 32-bit value. Bit 31 will be set to 1 if the codec supports EPSS, thus making "sup" negative. And the bit 28:5 is reserved as "0". So a negative value other than -1 shall be further checked. Within SIP messages IPv6 addresses are enclosed in square brackets in most cases, with the exception of the "received=" header parameter. Currently the helper fails to parse enclosed addresses. This patch: - changes the SIP address parsing function to enforce square brackets when required, and accept them when not required but present, as recommended by RFC 5118. - adds a new SDP address parsing function that never accepts square brackets since SDP doesn't use them. With these changes, the SIP helper correctly parses all test messages from RFC 5118 (Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Torture Test Messages for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6)).
