2012-05-15ath9k_hw: Fix RTT calibrationSujith Manoharan
This patch fixes multiple issues with the current RTT implementation in ath9k. * The data that is obtained from the RTT interface registers are stored in 31:5 - mask out the extra bits when reading them. * A history buffer is maintained which is not needed at all. Remove this array and just store the baseband data for each chain (or bank). * A 'num_readings' variable was being used to handle the last entry. But it was being used in an improper manner, with the result that the RTT values were never being written to the RTT Interface registers. Fix this by using a simple flag. * Stop baseband operations before programming the calibration values to the HW. * Do not restore RX gain settings as part of RTT. 2012-05-15mac80211_hwsim: Fix rate control by correctly reporting transmission countsJavier Cardona
Drivers need to report the number of transmission attempts for each rate as well as to terminate the rate array with -1. The in-kernel datapath of hwsim simulates a perfect medium, therefore the driver only needs to report that the first transmission attempt was sucessfully completed at the most favorable rate. For the explicit calls to .udiv/.umul in assembler, I made a mechanical (read as: safe) transformation. I didn't attempt to make any simplifications. In particular, __ndelay and __udelay can be simplified significantly. __ratelimit() can be considered an inverted bool test because it returns true when not ratelimited. Several tests in the kernel tree use this __ratelimit() function incorrectly. No net_ratelimit uses are incorrect currently though. Most uses of net_ratelimit are to log something via printk or pr_<level>. In order to minimize the uses of net_ratelimit, and to start standardizing the code style used for __ratelimit() and net_ratelimit(), add a net_ratelimited_function() macro and net_<level>_ratelimited() logging macros similar to pr_<level>_ratelimited that use the global net_ratelimit instead of a static per call site "struct ratelimit_state". 2012-05-15usbnet: fix skb traversing races during unlink(v2)Ming Lei
Commit 4231d47e6fe69f061f96c98c30eaf9fb4c14b96d(net/usbnet: avoid recursive locking in usbnet_stop()) fixes the recursive locking problem by releasing the skb queue lock before unlink, but may cause skb traversing races: - after URB is unlinked and the queue lock is released, the refered skb and skb->next may be moved to done queue, even be released - in skb_queue_walk_safe, the next skb is still obtained by next pointer of the last skb - so maybe trigger oops or other problems This patch extends the usage of entry->state to describe 'start_unlink' state, so always holding the queue(rx/tx) lock to change the state if the referd skb is in rx or tx queue because we need to know if the refered urb has been started unlinking in unlink_urbs. The other part of this patch is based on Huajun's patch: always traverse from head of the tx/rx queue to get skb which is to be unlinked but not been started unlinking. 2012-05-15C6X: add support to build with BINFMT_ELF_FDPICMark Salter
C6x userspace supports a shared library mechanism called DSBT for systems with no MMU. DSBT is similar to FDPIC in allowing shared text segments and private copies of data segments without an MMU. Both methods access data using a base register and offset. With FDPIC, the caller of an external function sets up the base register for the callee. With DSBT, the called function sets up its own base register. Other details differ but both userspaces need the same thing from the kernel loader: a map of where each ELF segment was loaded. The FDPIC loader already provides this, so DSBT just uses it. This patch enables BINFMT_ELF_FDPIC by default for C6X and provides the necessary architecture hooks for the generic loader. 2012-05-15ALSA: hda/idt - Fix power-map for speaker-pins with some HP laptopsTakashi Iwai
BIOS on some HP laptops don't set the speaker-pins as fixed but expose as jacks, and this confuses the driver as if these pins are jack-detectable. As a result, the machine doesn't get sounds from speakers because the driver prepares the power-map update via jack unsol events which never come up in reality. The bug was introduced in some time in 3.2 for enabling the power-mapping feature. This patch fixes the problem by replacing the check of the persistent power-map bits with a proper is_jack_detectable() call. This patch addresses a bug in a special case for target core SPC-2 RELEASE logic where the same physical client (eg: iSCSI InitiatorName) with differing iSCSI session identifiers (ISID) is allowed to incorrectly release the same client's SPC-2 reservation from the non reservation holding path. Note this bug is specific to iscsi-target w/ SPC-2 reservations, and with the default enforce_pr_isids=1 device attr setting in target-core controls if a InitiatorName + different ISID reservations are handled the same as a single iSCSI client entity. Section 15.3.1.2 of the software developer manual has this to say about the RIPV bit in the IA32_MCG_STATUS register: RIPV (restart IP valid) flag, bit 0 — Indicates (when set) that program execution can be restarted reliably at the instruction pointed to by the instruction pointer pushed on the stack when the machine-check exception is generated. When clear, the program cannot be reliably restarted at the pushed instruction pointer. We need to save the state of this bit in do_machine_check() and use it in mce_notify_process() to force a signal; even if memory_failure() says it made a complete recovery ... e.g. replaced a clean LRU page.
